6. WESTERWALD - First run for a Dansili colt that will have Boudot aboard for the Fabre yard and he does hold entries in the classics

7. L'OPTIMISTE - First run for a Makfi gelding - Rispoli rides for trainer Delzangles

Summary (2) BARHANPOUR could get punters off to a winning start. His first three runs suggested that a win was not far in coming. (1) GYMKHANA was runner-up on debut and will be the biggest threat to the former.(6) WESTERWALD comes with strong connections and although it will not be a surprise were he to win he is more likely to battle out the places with (3) AL MUTANABI.

4. LUSTRE - Distance suited but was well beaten in last start and needs to do more to win

5. MAGIQ RIO - Last run under a penalty was too short for him and he did win his previous two starts so watch him

6. SHAYANDI - Ignore last run and is clearly not out of it and capable of finishing in the money

7. SECRET RECIPE - Probably needed comeback run and could come on nicely from that outing

8. CESARO - Good recent form and obviously deserves the utmost respect in this race

9. NACHILA - Holding form well and will be in the shake-up once again

10. TAMARISSIMO - Has yet to win in 23 starts to date- fair recent form but is out at the weights

11. FALKHAIR - Unreliable form but has been supplemented for this race so deserves respect

12. ALMALYK - Well tried this year and is battling so needs to improve to win

13. BEYOND THE CLOUDS - Won twice early last year but has been battling since and others are preferred

Summary (2) MILLION is the choice in an open race. He has the ability to win. (9) NACHILA has good form but battles to get her head in front at the line. It could be the case again in this race. 7. KARADARGENT - Disappointing last run but has won at this track and could pop up in the places

8. CHERBOURG - Distance suited and is versatile surface wise so he does deserve respect in this line-up

6. GAILO CHOP - An international traveler that was not disgraced in Dubai last time out - has a chance

7. SUMBAL - Good form this year and has to be respected on those runs

8. MING DYNASTY - May have needed last start so should come on from that run so holds place credentials

9. NORSE KING - Only raced twice last year and comeback win was decent enough this so can finish in the money

10. WILD CHIEF - Comeback run was only modest and does seem at very best in Germany

11. SILJAN'S SAGA - Fair comeback run and he has done well at this track before - one that can upset

Summary A fascinating contest in which the Aga Khan's owned (1) DARIYAN is expected to bounce back from his below par run at Meydan. Main rival to the selection is the improving (2) GARLINGARI who outclassed rivals in the Prix d'Harcourt and he takes part in his first Group race with big expectations. (7) SUMBAL and (11) SILJAN'S SAGA have to be shortlisted too.

Summary The half sister to Slowow may have started a bit slow but that was always likely to be the case and (12) HIGH QUALITY is likely to be seen at her best this year and the next. 4. VAHRANA DU HAUTY - In this category she tends to make a big impression. Has ben prepared for this race and with shoes off looks to have it all going for her

5. UNIVERS ATOUT - Very consistent type but has not been raced for nine months and unlikely to scare the opposition

6. VERDI DES LIARDS - Very useful sort in both codes. On race to his name since spell and unshod behind appears to have a solid claim

7. VALORO ONE - Good class of horse but has raced just once since the autumn and with shoes off is not considered a player

8. VAL DE LOIRE - Nothing to his name for over a year and can be confidently disregarded

9. VIVALDI DU VAUCHEL - Has been off the track for almost a year and represents little or no hope in this contest

12. URI DE LA VALLEE - Pleased here on comeback early April and returns shod and not to be entirely discounted

13. VAL D'URZY - Back to this code after a brace of ridden outings. Four shoes on and not considered a threat

14. UVALIE MONTAVAL - Reliably consistent and going well of late. Not the best

15. BOCCO DELL ORO - Returned from long absence with brace of encouraging starts. Third time out and a minor spot within his reach

Summary Laurent Fresneau sends out a fine pair here with the well-prepared appearing to have the edge over capable stablemate (6) VERDI DES LIARDS. Both are well drawn and could make it a 1-2 for the yard. (14) UVALIE MONTAVAL may be drawn wide on the second row but she is a giver and can go close. If (3) URANIUM DE DUSSAC can take advantage of her 3-spot she could well challenge for one of the lower order places.

3. DARLING DE BIANCA - Climbing the ladder in good order and if applied should give a good account of herself

4. DIVA DE CARLESS - Has shown considerable promise and although disqualified twice from four has won over longer here and looks to have another good shot

5. DAY DE BELLOUET - Has yet to achieve much from four outings and looks to have his work cut out

6. DROLE DE DESTIN - Appears to have come into himself with a pair of good frame finishes already this month. Solid prospect

7. DILAN DE PIENCOURT - Virtually friendless on his debut as a 2yo last December and given the long absence not expected to make much of an impact

8. DOCTOR HOUSE - Won Class G in good fashion on debut fortnight ago and takes his chances at this level with legitimate ambitions

9. DEVIL OF CARLESS - Has failed to threaten on either start to date and unlikely to influence the outcome

Summary (1) DORTHEZ PRESTANCE is without doubt a colt with ability and if on good behaviour should make this his own. Failing that the laurels could be destined for (2) DEBEST FLASH who has shown significant aptitude and who is not far off his first score. (8) DOCTOR HOUSE left quite an impression on recent debut and should confirm and given the progress (6) DROLE DE DESTIN made last month a good place looks on the cards.

Race 3 1. VEGAS DES VOIRONS - Usually gives his best in this category when unshod. Returns to a track he likes and should acquit himself respectably

2. VALERINS - Always gives his best and has encouraged on both starts so far this year. Should play a role

3. VANIKORO - Has twice finished in the top half recently over course and distance although in better company this time and will have to show more

4. VANINA - Returns to a level where she is more comfortable. Fresh from spell and should give a good account

5. VAS Y DONC PARIS - Twice a winner already this year and although sanctioned last time out should redeem himself and go close

6. TANTIEME - Ended last season on a high note and although mediocre on comeback is expected to make up for it here

7. VINCE D'ERONVILLE - Not easy to fault in this category. Barefoot again and set for a big performance

8. TYPHON DU PLANTIS - In this category a very useful campaigner and although not at the top of his game has the wherewithal to win here

9. VALCOURT - Good sort at home and not short of scope. Two return races already and not without a small chance

10. TENOR ORANGE - Tends to acquit himself decently in this category however yet to make the frame this year

11. UPAPI - Handy sort at this level. Pleased at lower level last week and every chance of confirming

12. VAILLANT DU VIVIER - Not short of ability but currently enduring poor run of form. Fully shod this time but no fireworks anticipated

Summary (8) TYPHON DU PLANTIS has yet to fire as he did during the winter but is unshod once again and a big effort expected. (11) UPAPI is similarly barefoot for the occasion and on the back of his last run he appears the main challenger. (5) VAS Y DONC PARIS has won two of his last four and can go close once again however given how (2) VALERINS has returned from his spell he will be looking for more than a minor spot.

4. BAKLOV DE VANDEL - Has endured a horror story of form for some time but recently reassured at Lisieux and if condition maintained this race should be his

5. BEAUJOSH DE MAHEY - Going nicely at present and back at a track he appreciates. With the draw has a first rate chance

6. BOLIDE DE LULU - Won on his last start here and although sometimes complicated is unshod all four this time and should make a big impact

7. BLASON - Won at this level in good fashion mid-April and appears to be back in business. On similar form will be seen at the business end

8. BOSSEUSE RUSH - Winner of both her last starts however shoes back on this time though still not to be overlooked

9. BE HAPPY - A good mare when unshod which is not the case this time around and unlikely to influence the outcome

10. BON LUCERNAIS - Has looked only moderate from six so far this term and in this company needs to show more

11. BALKO ELTE - Disqualified more often than not lately. Showed signs of encouragement a week ago but too erratic to inspire confidence

12. BALZANE DE FERSAN - Won under similar conditions last time here but on current form has little to offer

13. BRUTUS DU GOLFE - Handy sort that appreciates these conditions and on a good day can play an important role

14. BRESCIA TURGOT - Useful type with hind shoes off and will not dislike the trip. Not the best draw but worth monitoring nonetheless

15. BOSTON DELO - Beat a number of others here early April and given his liking for the venue must be considered a minor place prospect

16. BELLA DE PIENCOURT - Racing pleasantly of late however starting wide outside on second row does nothing to improve her chances

Summary

(4) BAKLOV DE VANDEL is a good class of horse that appears to have come out the other side of his stride issues and if form is maintained he should wrap this up. If that is not the case (5) BEAUJOSH DE MAHEY should pick up the relay based on his latest efforts and with shoes off once more (6) BOLIDE DE LULU should also make a good impression. (7) BLASON may be drawn wide but he won with style last time out and can go close however a barefoot (1) BALTIC WELLS is never one to be underestimated.

3. COOL BE WILLIAMS - Not always the most reliable but has aptitude for the game. Unshod behind for first time and improvement expected

4. CABERLOT - Won a brace of events before layoff however three times disappointing this year and must confirm

5. CARLOS MONDO SY - Not easy to fault this colt given his current form. Gave a good account of himself late May here and should once again finish in the mix

6. CEPHEE DE KACY - On a respectable run since changing shoeing formula and expected to get back on track following latest Toulouse disqualification

7. CARINA BEJI - Won four from five last year and with a pair of return races in her and with hind shoes off she should once again make another good impression

8. CALIN DE LAUMONT - Made his debut late November and has won four from five. First outing at this venue however has the class to impose

9. COLORADO DE NIMES - Disqualified over course and distance on penultimate start but won well next time out when unshod behind. Same formula this time and should go well

10. CASH VRAC - Not a particularly rewarding colt and unlikely to shake things up

Summary With four wins from five career starts (8) CALIN DE LAUMONT is not easy to fault and he should easily be able to overcome the wide draw however given the recent progress (6) CEPHEE DE KACY has demonstrated she will be no pushover. (7) CARINA BEJI boasts a 50% strike rate and with hind shoes off for the first time could prove a force but spare a thought for the well-drawn (2) CELEBRATA who races barefoot for the first time.
