A CHRISTMAS REPRISE The Church’s celebra on three weeks ago of the Bap sm of the Lord signaled the “official” end of the Christmas season. Today’s feast of the Presenta on of the Lord seems to extend the In-carna on celebra on a bit longer. In fact, some have called this feast a “second Epiphany.” The first reading recalls the an cipa on of Advent, as Malachi writes, “Lo, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me.” The reading from Hebrews reminds us of the Incarna-
on, proclaiming that Jesus had a “share” in our own “blood and flesh.” The Gospel finds the infant Jesus on his first visit to Jerusalem and his human parents once again surprised and in awe over the events surround his birth. In the simplicity of the manger, in the gran-deur of the temple, in the domes city of Naza-reth, Jesus comes. RETORNO A LA NAVIDAD La celebración de hace tres semanas del Bau-
smo del Señor señaló el fin “oficial” del empo de Navidad para la Iglesia. La fiesta de hoy de la Presentación del Señor parece extender la cele-bración un poco más allá. En realidad, algunos han nombrado esta fiesta una “Segunda Epifa-nía”.
La primera lectura nos recuerda la an cipa-ción del Adviento, como escribe Malaquías: “Envío a mi mensajero para que prepare el ca-mino ante mí”. La lectura de los Hebreos nos re-cuerda la Encarnación, proclamando que Jesús tuvo una “parte” de la misma “carne y sangre”. El Evangelio encuentra al niño Jesús en su primera visita a Jerusalén, y a sus padres una vez más sor-prendidos y asombrados por los acontecimientos de su nacimiento.
En la sencillez del pesebre, en la grandeza del templo, en la domes cidad de Nazaret, Jesús vie-ne. ¡Que lleguemos a conocerlo y por ello nos encontremos llenos de “sabiduría” y de la “gracia de Dios!” Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Blessing of the throats Saint Blaise is believed to begin as a healer then, eventually, became a "physician of souls." He then re red to a cave, where he remained in pray-er. People o en turned to Saint Blaise for healing miracles. There will be a blessing on Monday-February 3rd, 2020 at the 8:00 am Mass.

Communion for the Homebound Ministers of Care are available to bring Commun-ion to the homebound. Please call the Parish Office to arrange. Sacrament of Bap sm Infant Bap sm (0-6 years) is a special me in a family’s life. The Church invites parents and god-parents to prepare for this Sacrament with an In-fant Bap sm Class. These sessions are held in the weeks before the Sacrament takes place. Bap sms are celebrated in English the 1st of month on Saturdays at 11am (except during Lent). Spanish the 2nd & 3rd of the month at 11am. For more informa on or to reserve your place for a Bap sm date and prepara on class, please call the Parish Office. Sacrament of Marriage The Pastoral Guidelines for Marriage Prepara on are that a minimum of 8 months be set aside for personal prepara on for marriage. Couples should refrain from se ng a firm date un l a er they have met with the Pastoral Associate to discuss marriage plans. Weddings are celebrated Fridays at 3pm and Saturdays at 2pm.
