C l u s t e r News Dear Parishioners, This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Trinity is the Christian be-lief that God is One in the three distinct persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus reveals the Trinity to us in today’s Gospel when he instructs the disciples to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” The Catechism of the Catholic Church states “the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in him-self” (paragraph 234). The Catechism goes on to say “the real distinction of the persons [of the Trinity] from one another resides solely in the relationships which relate them to each other” (paragraph 255). This is a poor comparison, but I think of it as a family being a single unit. However there are persons that make up that family. The distinction between the different per-sons in the family is their relationships to each other. In terms relating to the Trinity, a father is a father be-cause of a son, and a son is a son because of the fa-ther. Their relationship to each other distinguishes who they are in the family. As a Trinity, God is always in a divine relation-ship with Himself. And as Jesus says to us today he is always in relationship with us too: “I am with you always, until the end of the age.” God desires to have us, the adopted sons and daughters of the Father, to be part of that divine relationship of love. May we al-ways respond to that Spirit of adoption so we may re-main in relationship with God – the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. This Memorial Day weekend our country re-members those who have passed on to hopefully a more intimate relationship with the Holy Trinity. We especially remember those who followed the example of Christ and laid down their lives for others through service in our military. May God grant them eternal rest. As a reminder next weekend, June 2/3, we begin our new weekend Mass schedule. -Father Mark Murphy
