Reflection God sets the table of life and invites those who are willing to receive.
The faith which moves us to eat and drink of this tremendous surprise, is to be lived in the washing of our hands, doing of our homework, and all the other experiences of life through which Jesus
moves. This is the Wisdom which comes down from heaven. This is the faith which frees us to see more than we are looking at, both in the liturgy of the Eucharist and the liturgy of our lives.

Maria Bilodeau from Sacred Heart Catholic School was awarded the Most Distinguished Educator of the Year during the annual diocesan gathering to start the new school year in Orlando. This is also a special year for Maria being her 10th year as a teacher at Sacred Heart School.
Congratulations!
Sacred Heart Catholic School begins the new school year with superhero themes!
It was a blessed and beautiful first day for the superheroes of Sacred Heart Catholic School. Not only did the Eagles get to be visited by our pastor Father Tom Burke, but they also had Fr. Aldrin in almost every class the entire day. The teachers began the school year with team-building and professional development days as early as August 1st but the students started officially on Wednesday, August 8th. It was a wonderful, happy first week and Sacred Heart School would like to thank all the Redemptorist priests, parishioners, benefactors, families, teachers, and students for this awesome chance to make a new beginning. It’s a great time to be an Eagle! SHS principal Shelley Niswonger reminded the school community that Jesus is and will always be our superhero!

Catholic schools to remain centers of evangelization. Here in the Diocese of Orlando, our 42 Catholic schools and preschools prepare young people to live in a global world by sharing Gospel values and living Christ’s message of salvation. The Diocesan Office of Catholic Schools, which receives funding through Our
Catholic Appeal, plays a key role in advancing the mission of our schools. Curriculum
development, technology support, and teacher certification are just a few of the
services that are offered to our schools as a result of
your gifts. For more information visit

Eucharist to the Homebound- Are you unable to come to Mass or more importantly receive Jesus in the Eucharist? The Ministers to the Sick would love to bring Jesus to you. Please call the Parish office 428-6426 to set up Home visitation.
Rosary request—Do you have
broken rosaries that you don’t know what to do with? Rosaries, once blessed should be disposed of properly. We would like your old and broken rosaries to repurpose into new Sacramental. Please bring to parish office. God Bless

QUEENSHIP OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
August 22 is the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Traditional Calendar and the Queenship of Mary, the new calendar. October 11 is the Feast of the Divine Maternity, both Calendars and the Queenship of Mary, Traditional Calendar.
On the 11th OF October 1954, Pope Pius XII established the Feast of the Queenship of Mary to be celebrated throughout the world, and commanded that on that day each year, the world should renew its consecration to her. In the future the Feast came to be celebrated on 22nd of August.
"The purpose of the Feast is that all may recognize more clearly and venerate more devoutly the merciful and motherly sovereignty of her who bore God in her womb" (Ven. Pius XII, Ad. Coeli Reginam).
On the day of her Assumption, Mary our Mother was solemnly crowned by Christ and received by the whole court of Heaven as Queen.
What Christ has done in Heaven and the Church has done on our behalf we should now do individually, that is, we should recognize Mary's Queenship, enthrone her in our homes, consecrate ourselves to her and, by this means, establish in our lives the reign of Mary Immaculate Queen of the Universe.
What is RCIA? A process to introduce the teachings of the Catholic Church to individuals who wish to learn more about Catholicism including the opportunity to become a member of the Catholic Church.
How do I sign up for RCIA? To sign up, you can fill out a registration form at the parish office, or simply call the parish office.
What is the cost for attending RCIA? There is no cost to you to attend RCIA. Sacred Heart Parish provides all that is needed for the sessions for all those who attend RCIA.
How many sessions can I miss? Our desire is to have you attend all sessions. RCIA is certainly a place where you will learn about what the Catholic Church believes and teaches; however it is much more than that. It is a process of getting to know Jesus Christ and growing together in community. This journey takes time and commitment on your part.
If any non-Catholic adult is interested in learning what the church professes, new in-
quiry sessions will begin
1st Session: Thursday September 6, 2018 Time: 7:00pm
Location: Knights Hall
SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH
National Senior Citizens Day
This day was created as a
day to support, honor and show appreciation to our seniors and
to recognize their achievements.
Their valuable contributions to our communities create better
places to live. Take time today to spend with
seniors you know, and listen to their stories of wisdom and
experience, gain from their hard-earned knowledge.
To celebrate National Senior Citizens Day, spend time with the
senior citizens you know. Let them know that they are
appreciated and loved. It may also be a good day to volunteer
at a retirement home and share your smile with those who may
not otherwise get a visitor today.

Heavenly Father, we could never thank our military men and women enough for their courageous service and sacrifice to our country and its people. Show us ways in our communities, churches, and families to thank and love them
better. Keep and protect these heroes and their families, in the powerful name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

“There are different gifts but the same Spirit, there are different ministries but the
same Lord . . . To each person the manifestation of the spirit is given for the
common good.” Every person is called to contribute to the liturgy in a manner suited to his or her unique talents. It takes the help of many people serving in a variety of different liturgical ministries to help the liturgy flow smoothly and enable the participation of the assembly. At the present time, there is a serious need for volunteers in all ministries at St. Gerard’s. We invite you to prayerfully reflect on the gifts God has given you and consider volunteering your talents for one of our ministries.
Training: Training is provided to help you get started in all the listed ministries.
Scheduling: Liturgical ministers are scheduled at the Mass time of their preference as often as fits their schedule and are asked to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled Mass begins.
Contact: Please see the list of ministries below. Call the leader of the ministry you are interested in to volunteer or for further information.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR
MINISTRIES AT ST. GERARD’S
WE NEED YOUR HELP . . . To keep the Sacred Heart & St. Gerard roster up to date-
In order to better serve our parish we strive to maintain a church roster that is as accurate as possible. We ask that our registered parishioners call the parish office at 386-428-6426 to inform us when changes to your information occur including name, address, telephone number, a move out of the parish, the death of a family member who is a registered parishioner, etc. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
ALUMINUM POP TAB COLLECTION
The POP TAB collection period for 2018 – 2019 is in full swing, and I reach out again to all of you who savor that special libation, that sports an aluminum POP TAB, to please save it for the Ronald McDonald houses in Orlando. They depend greatly on these
yearly collections, donated by the schools participating in their program. These collections help offset the cost to shelter, comfort and care for the families as they wait for their child to be cared for. Our collection of POP TABS, combined with the POP TABS collected by the families and friends of Chisholm Elementary School in NSB, weighed-in at 122 lbs this past collection period. That’s a lot of POP TABS. There’s a picture of the POP TAB collection on the bulletin board in the vestibule at St. Gerard. Check it out!
Thank you again and God Bless.
