She lost her Marine; another eases the pain
When Adrienne Johnson answered the doorbell at her Bayport home, she found
a stranger standing outside.
The stranger — Bill Pederson of Maus-ton, Wis. — said he had been visiting a cousin and had noticed the U.S. Marine Corps flag flying in Johnson's front yard. It was Nov. 4, 2010 — six days before
the Marines' 235th birthday.

Little Angels Consignment Shop Tina Devick
https://www.facebook.com/littleangelsconsignment
Little Angels Consignment Shop was opened in May of 2011. Since that time we have moved twice and are now located at 111 W 6th St, Starbuck. (Next to the old bowling alley) We have expanded from a small consignment store to an operation that is comparable to Once Upon a Child, a franchise that is located in larger cities. The new space and shelving has allowed us to double our baby equipment. We have extended our sizes to cover all children clothing, including plus sizes. Our
broad array of toys will entertain baby, toddler, child and preteen kids. Little Angels Consignment Shop now carries new items to compliment our upscale
image, without compromising our low prices.
Little Angels Consignment Shop is proud to be the areas only upscale con-signment shop for children. All items are clean, in like new condition. There is no need to look over the items for stains, wear or tear. All items are in-spected diligently and only the best is chosen for our inventory. The store is organized and yet kid friendly. As a mom myself, I know the frustrations of shopping with children, especially around toys! I invite all kids to come and
play while the adults shop.
New items are priced 20%-40% off retail and like new items are priced 40%-80% off retail. In order to keep our inventory fresh and up to date, we discount inventory by 25% after the first month and 50% after the second month. That’s right, every time you shop, there will be a sale, on top
of our already low prices.
New to the store, is our same day cash policy and our do it yourself policy. We continue to offer full service consignment, and added extra commissions for the higher priced items. Due to the awesome response to the new policies, we have implemented a 35 item, per consignor, per week limit. Our inventory is constantly changing daily, even hourly. In order to keep the store clean and efficient, please read over our entire policy
before bringing items to the store.
The benefits of Little Angels Consignment Shop are numerous. Our goal is to have a mutually profitable rela-
tionship with all our consignors, while providing quality children items at a fraction of the cost for parents,
grandparents, foster families, and the alike. Also, Little Angels Consignment Shop is a great way to “go
green.” Whether you are a shopper or consignor, you can feel good knowing that you are recycling clothing
that might otherwise end up at a landfill. We regularly donate to local organizations and benefits of our
friends and neighbors in need. Little Angels Consignment Shop strives to keep our local dollars in our com-
munity. Our customer base is mainly from Morris, Benson and Alexandria, but we have had customers drive
from Little Falls, St Cloud, and Willmar. We continue to encourage and educate our community on the bene-
fits of shopping locally. After all, “When you shop at a local business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third
vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom put
food on the table, a dad pay his mortgage, or a student pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders.”

“Greg and I went to Morris last night and we were a part of the Fall into Health that SCMC organized and sponsored. It was a wonderful evening with hundreds in attendance. Joe Schmit spoke last night. We did not have the opportunity to hear him at the Expo because we were doing the booth. There were a few things that I took away from the experience. First, how wonderful it was to see many people including the school system working to-gether for the evening. Second, Joe's message of purpose, persistence, and passion, is something that everyone needs to hear and take to heart. It was meant to be that we stayed and listened last night. And third, maybe just maybe someone notices everything that we do but doesn't say anything at the time. They have taken something from good deeds and
will remember it and us for years to come.”
Just a thought for the day.

While many realize that Veterans Day, which always falls on November 11, is a day to honor our Veterans, few realize the historical significance behind the day. Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day and marked the end of hostilities of World War I that occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. Therefore, the day is always recognized on November 11th, re-gardless of the day of the week the 11th falls on. In 1919, President Wilson commemorated the first Armistice Day with these words: "To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who
died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed
us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the
councils of the nations..." The day was originally set aside to honor the Veterans of World War I with a day of parades and remembrances as well as a pause in activities at 11am on the day. In 1938, it was made a legal federal holiday for all. However, after World War II and the Korean War, Congress recognized a need to expand the meaning of the day to recognize all of our Veterans and not just those of World War I. In 1954, the word "Armistice" was replaced with "Veterans" as a way to formally include all Veterans of all American wars in the day of remembrance. Today, Veterans Day is a federal holiday which many cities celebrate with parades and ceremonies. In Washington, D.C., there are ceremonies throughout the city including a wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery. Veterans Day is a day not only to remember those who died in service to our country, but also to recognize those who continue to serve today. Americans are encouraged to say thank you to those who fulfill this patriotic duty to maintain the freedoms of
our country. This year, Veterans Day, November 11, 2014, falls on Tuesday.

Over Seas
As I sit here on that foreign beach
Longing for that land I cannot reach
Which lies out on a distant shore
Where the battle gun doesn’t roar
And that land across the ocean blue
Lives a girl that has always been true
She is as pretty as can be
And waits patiently for me
Now I hope and pray
There will come a day
When I can sail the waters blue
And be my darling always with you.
Over There
Here on the island far over the sea
Roams a young soldier lonely as can be
Deep in his heart lies a love so true
His thoughts are distant, lonely and blue
He dreams of one only,
So precious and rare
Such sweet little dimples that are always there
My love for you dear
is so deep and sincere
that dear God our token should never be broken
We were united together no never to part
For your love and my love
Remains deep in our hearts
These 2 poems were written by Starbuck resident Vern Fetterer while
he served our country in the South Pacific during World War 2.
