What is student satisfaction?

“Student satisfaction is a sense that the student feels he or she belongs at, and is loyal to, the institution. “Lenning, Beal, and Sauer 1980; Tinto 1987

“When expectations are met or exceeded by the student’s perception of the campus reality.”

Schreiner & Juillerat, 1994

Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI)

Using a Likert Scale from 1 to 7, the SSI asks students to rate the level of importance and satisfaction with survey items.

Survey Items are classified into 12 Scales

• Instructional Effectiveness• Safety and Security• Registration Effectiveness• Academic Advising/Counseling• Admissions and Financial Aid• Academic Services• Concern for the Individual• Campus Climate• Student Centeredness• Campus Support Services• Responsiveness to Diverse Populations

Methodology

Invited all students enrolled in Spring 2018 to participate. Available online from April 13 to May 8, 2018. 1,406 students responded which represents a 10% response rate. Four reminders to complete the survey were sent to non-

respondents. $500 QuikTrip gift cards were offered to students as an incentive

to complete the survey. One winner was chosen from each campus after the survey

administration.

Student Comments

Very accessible campus, very hospitable, friendly, ethnically diverse, all inclusive,

lovely, lively environment for active learning! For younger and older persons

of all orientations!Overall, my college experience has truly been a good one. The

cost is reasonable and there are many resources on campus.

Would definitely recommend this institution to a friend.

I was never a fan of high school and I figured I wouldn't be one of college. However, my schooling experience at MCC campuses have been amazing. I'm extremely glad to have continued onto college

after high school.
