How do you solve a problem like maize?

• High risk/high yield crop being grown outside natural limits.

• 16 Anaerobic Digestion added over 7,000 acres of maize in Wye b/w 2009-13.

• 75% of maize fields show high or severe levels of soil degradation.

• Major problems with soil and phosphate loss in wet autumns.

• 63 breaches of soil loss rules recorded.

maps with threat of works orders.• 13 threats issued 2017• 12 of the farmers contacted WUF

within 24hrs
