Shelf Life:
From the manufacturing date (DMF) or latest overhaul .... : 72 months
Refer to the paragraph 1.C (6) (a) hereafter.
NOTE: Keep the oxygen mask in the room with a temperature of between 0 degree C and + 55 degree C (32 degree F to + 135 degree F) and a relative humidity at between 25 and 65 %. The recommended temperature is at or near 15 degree C (59 degree F).
(2) Functional test
ZODIAC AEROTECHNICS recommends that a complete functional test be performed at minimum of once a year as described in the Aircraft Maintenance Manual or Maintenance Instructions as supplemented by 4NUT0045A (MC10 Series), 4NUT0046A (MF10 Series), 4NUT0047A (MC10/MF10 Series), 4NUT0089A (MC20 Series), 4NUT0080A (MF20 Series), 4NUT0114A (MLC20/MLD20 Series), 4NUT0093A (MRA Series).
Do the operations that follow:
(a) Remove the Mask Regulator from the stowage box as defined in the relevant Operating and Maintenance Instructions.
(b) Hold the Mask Regulator and depress the harness inflation control (red tabs). Make sure that the harness is fully inflated in one second maximum. Manually make sure that there is no internal bonding of the harness tubes in the folding areas.
NOTE: When applicable, make sure that the blinker on the stowage box turns yellow and then black, within a few seconds. This indicates that the harness is leak-tight in the inflated condition.
(c) Put the Mask Regulator onto the head per normal operation.
(d) When applicable, test the comfort function of the harness.
(e) While breathing with the Mask Regulator set in "N" (Normal dilution) and then in "100%" position, make sure of the proper operation of the stowage box blinker and/or the in-line flow indicator.
NOTE: The following test must be performed with the "N/100%" dilution control in the "100%" position.
(f) Set the control knob to “Emergency” position. Take a few breaths. Breathing should be free and unrestricted. Turn the control knob back to its original position.
(g) Test the microphone per normal operating procedure.
(h) When applicable, test the noise cancellation function.
(i) When applicable, check the in-line flow indicator operation.
(j) Stow the unit per applicable Aircraft procedures.
WARNING: PROPER STORAGE IS ESSENTIAL FOR QUICK AND EFFICIENT DONNING OF THE MASK REGULATOR ASSEMBLY. IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT CREW MEMBERS AUTHORIZED TO USE THE UNIT BE PROPERLY TRAINED TO THIS PROCEDURE.

(3) Replacement of sub-assemblies.
To permanently guarantee TSO* performances, ZODIAC AEROTECHNICS recommends strongly the replacement of the following sub-assemblies:
* (technical Standard Order)
(a) Periodicity
Supply hose DTS4xxx Series, DTS4xxxG Series, DTSA Series: every 144 months,
Harness MXH Series, MXHA Series: every 72 months,
NOTE1: The above periodicities are based on ZODIAC AEROTECHNICS know-how and repair analysis as it is quite difficult for repair technicians to determine the serviceability of the subassembly in relation with ageing conditions which are not only visual. Those parts have been endurance tested through cycles, which showed evidence of these limits based on intensive use of the product. The deterioration of harness braid, supply hose braid, silicone tube used on these sub-assemblies, silicon seal tear and wear on the mask are potential causes of inappropriate pilot protection during emergency conditions.
NOTE2: Each sub-assembly is tagged with a manufacturing date to make easy the check of these periodicities (Refer to Fig 6 to 11).
(b) Condition
The Table 1 hereafter lists the most frequently observed causes of scrapping.

(c) Testing
After a repair, do a fully bench test in accordance with chapter "TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION" in the relevant mask-regulators and regulators CMM’s in order to declare the mask regulator serviceable.
(d) Service Bulletin
It is strongly recommended to systematically apply all applicable Service Bulletin (Refer to § 1.C.(7))
(5) Overhaul
(a) Expendable parts
The parts listed in table 2 and table 2 bis must be systematically replaced during an overhaul; as well as appropriate repairs must be implemented.
This recommendation is linked to the risk of performance degradations for the equipment after this period, especially the elastomer parts in contact with oxygen, even not permanently.

(b) Other parts.
The parts listed in table 3 and table 3 bis, which are subjected to ageing, shall be replaced depending on the conditions.
(c) Testing
After an overhaul, do a fully bench test in accordance with chapter "TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION" in the relevant mask-regulators and regulators CMM’s in order to declare the mask regulator serviceable.
(d) Identification
The overhauling shall be identified with a label, stuck on regulator, which indicates:
The name of the approved repair facilities,
The indication "OVERHAUL",
The control stamp,
The date.
CAUTION: THESE DATA MUST BE LEGIBLE. USE ONLY GENUINE INDELIBLE INK AND PROTECT DATA WITH A TRANSPARENT SELF-ADHESIVE TAPE.
(6) Action to be carried out upon shelf life.
(a) At 72 months of shelf life, do a fully bench test in accordance with chapter "TESTING AND FAULT ISOLATION" in the relevant CMM in order to declare the mask regulator serviceable.
If the equipment does not pass the test, apply the appropriate actions before returning it to service.
