ISS National Lab
• The U.S segment of the ISS is a national laboratory
• The ISS will further strengthen the pursuit of national priorities for the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics
• The ISS National Laboratory will also open new paths for the exploration and economic development of Space.

ISS National Lab1. The National Laboratory concept is an
opportunity to expand the US economy in space-based research, applications and operations
2. The ISS represents a unique and highly visible national asset with surplus capacity available for a wide spectrum of applications
3. NASA will continue to cover cost of operating and maintaining the ISS, and is highly motivated to work with other agencies and organizations to pursue applications.

ISS | Space ExplorationInternational Space Station
LabVIEW Remote Earth-based Example
• Provides command, science telemetry and parameter formatting and routing services to payload software
• Enables operations analogous to Ground Laboratory communications using standard protocols (TCP and UDP plus standard Telnet utility)

STELLA Summary• Rather than direct
Computer to Computer ethernet communications, STELLA software services capture ethernetcommunications and format and route data appropriately
• Easy to integrate– Integrate STELLA Flight
Software Services with Payload Flight Software
– Integrate STELLA Ground Software Services with MSFC Developed Telescience Resource Kit (TReK) Software
Proprietary
