"When I returned home that night and tried to fall asleep… I couldn’t.” That statement describes how a night in New York City with The Relief Bus handing out food, soup and personal care items to homeless people changed my career path forever. You see, my head and heart were filled with emotions I had never felt before. I knew I had to respond. The days following that night went by and I found within myself an ever increasing desire to return to the streets of NYC to “Love On” the people I had met - homeless people. Jesus was asked, "Lord when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?” Jesus answered them and said, “Truly I tell you that when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!” Matthew 25:38, 40 How to donate: http://donate.reliefbus.org 1 - Choose amount 2 - Click on monthly 3 - Click on staff member 4 - Choose Scott Hansen Required Supporters & Monthly Budget Supporters Monthly Amount Annual Amount Total Support 2 $300 $3,600 $7,200 4 $150 $1,800 $7,200 12 $100 $1,200 $14,400 12 $50 $600 $7,200 30 $3,000 $36,000 THESE THINGS WE DO THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE At first, I would join The Relief Bus once a month with friends from my church. How we Meet the Need The Relief Bus offers LIFE TRANSFORMATION and brings people who are struggling the resources needed to turn their lives around.

What’s an outreach leader? As an outreach leader I will be facilitating the operations of the Relief Bus by assigning positions to the volunteers and bridging the gap between our needy friends on the street and the resources that can help them. Being a full-t ime outreach leader is a highly demanding position.  It requires 40-50 hours a week of very emotionally and physically draining work. It requires a willingness to work in all types of weather and be willing to go the distance for someone whatever that distance is. It is the nuts and bolts of what it takes to coordinate the effort for each trip. We do this 5 days a week.

The Need Last year in New York City over 60,000 people slept in shelters. 25,000 of them were children. Many more stayed on the streets. Everyday people are losing hope and giving up.

The government is failing at its attempts to end or reverse this epidemic.

How you can help! Outreach leaders are urban missionaries who do not receive a regular salary.  I am looking and praying for people like you who are willing to come along side of me and my family to answer God’s calling on my life.  Are you willing to be part of my financial team; to reach the lonely, hurting and hopeless of New York City and Newark, New Jersey?  Below is a giving chart that allows you to decide where you can fit into the team.

In 1989 Richard Galloway and his wife Dixie bought an old school bus and retro-fit it with a kitchen in order to serve the homeless in New York City. Today, there are 3 busses going to 12 locations throughout NYC and Newark, New Jersey every week. Each bus hands out soup, bread, drinks, socks and hygiene kits. Each bus also has an office area where people in need are greeted and connected to resources such as Detox, Housing, Job Training, Jobs, Clothing, etc. Last year alone 40,000+ servings of soup were handed out. 44,000 people were given personal aid and care. Countless numbers of people received hope, love, friendship and prayer! It takes Outreach Leaders to coordinate this effort every day. That is what I am going to be doing!
