Safe, easy, cost-optimised!

Safe:

The extended diagnostics possibilitiesof the AS-i system increase data secu-rity and machine uptime.Safety components up to the highestcontrol category 4 to EN 954-1 / SIL 3to IEC 61508 can be connected to AS-i.Safety at work is the extensionof the AS-interface by safety-relatedcomponents.

The product port-folio includes AS-icomponents fordifferent areas:from packagingand conveying viasilo applications, machine tools, robotics and auto-mation to thefood industry.

AS-interface from ifm electronic –ease of communication up to the highest level.

AS-interface

(AS-i = actuator sensorinterface) is a manufacturer-independent standard forthe connection of actuatorsand sensors of the firstfield level.

Safe:The sophisticated AS-itechnology provides highreliability and machineuptime.

Easy:Modular structure andflexible connection technol -ogy ensure easy integrationinto the AS-i system.

Cost-optimised:A 2-wire cable transmitsdata and energy, complexparallel wiring is no longernecessary.

ifm electronic provides youwith your complete AS-isystem solution!

High quality and technicallyperfect products are un-impeachable values of ifmelectronic.

The innovator and globalplayer has almost fortyyears of experience in auto-mation technology.

Cost-optimised:

Low wiring complexity due to two-wire cable. The decentralisation of the AS-iparticipants leads to smaller and lessexpensive control cabinets.AS-i participants can be positioned ina decentralised way, so that the con-trol cabinets become smaller and lessexpensive. Furthermore, the possibilityof extension during set-up providesmore flexibility.

Easy:

Due to the standardised system, thelow wiring complexity and quickconnection technology, AS-i enablessimple ”Plug & Play“.The reduction of terminals leads toreduced documentation.

Only the central control com -ponents of the AS-i network areintegrated into the controlcabinet, well protected againstexternal influences.

The master assumes the most important

function in each AS-i network. It handles

the AS-i slaves and polls them cyclically.

The AS-i power supply provides the re -

quired supply voltage and assumes the

task of data coupling.

The safety monitor monitors all connected

safety slaves and ensures the deactivation

in case of a fault or the activation of the

safety system.
