Dear Parishioners:

Jesus encourages us, like the poor widow, to persevere in prayer. Prayer leads the way, the way to Jesus and the Kingdom of God. Usually we learn to "persevere in prayer” the hard way. We are exhausted, hungry and weak. We need help!

We look to our relationships with the Holy Trinity, the Angels and Saints and to those around us for the help we need. In the first reading, Moses’ hands got tired - Yes, but he did not stop praying until the victory was won. For the early Christians, persecution from many sides was destroying their peaceful community. They turned to constant prayer, learning the power of reliance upon God, understanding the many ways of prayer.

Prayer opens our hearts to God's undeserved love and mercy. Prayer opens our minds to be filled with confidence and courage - Yes, even in the face of death. We become ever more aware of the needs of others. Let us continue to be "Mercy in Motion!" Thank You for participating in the family of God.

This two-part seminar-retreat is a multi-media, reflective program to understand the nature of stress, to rec-ognize how temperament preoccupations increase stress, and to gain mental, theological, and spiritual in-sights that foster peace.
