New Functions Cone in Cone Contact

When cone geometry is contacted in another cone geometry, this contact is available as shown in Figure 1. This contact can be applied to the valve-to-valve seat contact. The bottom and top faces of the base cone are opened.

Figure 1. Example of cone in cone contact

Fixed Problems

Fixed the bug that the friction force of Extended surface-to-surface contact has occasionally a peak when the static and dynamic threshold velocity is defined as very small value as shown in Figure 2. This is available when the advanced detection algorithm is checked. Resultant contact force can be different when a contacted body goes to a stiction range as shown in Figure 3.

9

Figure 5. Example of an end condition problem in Motion

Fixed the bug that initial conditions are mismatched with user-specified values

when Motion is defined at a level of velocity or acceleration in IMGALPHA integrator. Refer the Figure 4.

Fixed the bug that a solution at the end time is a peak when Motion is defined at a level of acceleration and is a time function. Refer the Figure 4.

Fixed the bug that an initial acceleration of the constrained body with PTCV and CVCV is occasionally wrong.

Fixed the bug that the function of ERRMES has a wrong printing format in a user subroutine.

4 RecurDynTM/F-FLEX

New Functions Node creation

You can create some necessary nodes. There are three types of creation rules such as a point, 2-points, 3-points. It can help you to generate master node for FDR Element.

Using out of core option Linear Solver can use file swap memory to solve huge D.O.F. problem with “Out Of Core” option. For huge D.O.F. “In Core” cannot handle the memory but “Out Of Core” can do it. “In Core” option uses only memory so it gives faster solution rather than “Out Of Core” option in small D.O.F. problem.

Reduce preprocess time Preprocess takes much time to save memory size used in the solver process. With unselect “Focus On Memory”, the preprocessing time will take less than previous versions.

Upgraded Functions Strain and stress recovery

Nodal strain and stress was always recovered from center of element. It assumed that all nodal strain and stress might be same with center value. This assumption was correct if you use a relatively fine meshed model. But a coarse mesh model will give an incorrect strain and stress solution especially in the stress concentrated nodes. To solve above problem, RecurDyn/F-Flex supports extrapolation method for strain and stress recovery using gauss point values.

11

2Gbyte file problem RecurDyn/F-Flex had some limitation of output file size. There were some un-respectable problems whenever it exceeded 2Gbyte. This limitation is vanished.

Shell thickness in contact Flexible surface contacts can support the effect of thickness of finite element. Contact patch can use one of two types of thickness. The first original type is to consider the thickness of shell element, which is defined in property of shell element. The other is a specific type where a user-defined thickness is used.

Layer number of nodal flexible body The capability to set a layer number is added on the nodal flexible body dialog box.

Synchronize connector options In previous version, you have to change FDR connector option each by each. All FDR connector options can be grouping and synchronize them with same parameters.

Fixed Problems

Boundary condition Boundary condition always should be applied to the inertia reference frame. But this rule was broken when the orientation of node was changed. This problem is fixed.

Strain and stress in Beam Element Fixed the bug that program was terminated when the nodes included in beam element exist in output list.

Extracting with Solid26 Element Fixed the bug that program was terminated when the nodes included in beam element exist in output list.

Parametric value usage in connecting parameter Fixed the bug of converting error when connecting parameters are defined by parametric value.

Imposing boundary condition in FDR Element Node Fixed the bug that system became unstable when nodes that are imposed boundary conditions are belonging in FDR element.

Output of node in FDR Element

12

Fixed the bug that output gives a garbage value when nodes belonging to FDR element are listed in output data.

Known Problems

Extracting after a modification of nodal position The strain calculated from deformation that means difference between current position and original position. This rule always applied after extracting preformed. But if you modify a node position before extracting, this changing cannot be considered as original position. So strain and stress may be different with your imagine.

Node which has no mass or inertia If a nodal body has no mass or inertia, small mass or inertia is added internally. It occurs when FDR element is connected to solid element or RBE element is connected to solid element. Additionally a node initially has no mass or inertia.

Upgraded Functions Export of damping coefficients

Damping coefficient can be exported.

Reference node of Contour Reference node can be used in deformation type of contour. The contour of the other nodes becomes displayed with respect to that of Reference node.

Position of CM Position of Center Marker indicates the correct position of mass center of the flexible body.

RFI path RFI file can be used in a different folder from the working folder. The RFI path is shown in Body property page of flexible body.

RFI Interface for MSC.NASTRAN v2005 New DMAP file(RecurDyn_rfi.alt) is supported for MSC.NASTRAN version 2005 so that an out file can be generated with this DMAP file. This out file can also be used to create RFI file in RFI interface.

Extrapolation method using values at the gauss points is supported to solve above problem.

Fixed Problems Fixed the problem that shell belt systems didn’t normally work when a few shell

belt systems got together.

15

7 RecurDynTM/CHAIN

New Functions Contact parameter for each geometry

Contact parameters can be defined at each geometric entity.

Fixed Problems

Fixed the bug that contact between sprocket teeth and silent chain is not performed in some case.

16

8 RecurDynTM/TRACK_HM

New Functions Contact parameter for each geometry

Contact parameters can be defined at each geometric entity.

Fixed Problems

Fixed the bug that ‘full search’ function doesn’t work in contact between sprocket teeth and track link.

17

9 RecurDynTM/TRACK_LM

New Functions Contact parameter for each geometry

Contact parameters can be defined at each geometric entity.

18

10 RecurDynTM/MTT2D

Known Problems Fixed the bug that a simulation is failed when a sheet in sheet-to-sheet contact is

inactive. Fixed the bug that a program is terminated when sensors are selected

simultaneously and then their dialog boxes are opened.

11 RecurDynTM/MTT3D

Upgraded Functions Damping characteristics of Sheet Shell

When a sheet shell is deformed in a diagonal direction, the damping characteristics are improved as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Damping characteristics in a diagonal direction

Strain and stress recovery Nodal strain and stress was always recovered from center of element. It assumed that all nodal strain and stress might be same with center value. This assumption was correct if you use a relatively fine meshed model. But a coarse mesh model will give an incorrect strain and stress solution especially in the stress concentrated nodes. Extrapolation method using values at the gauss points is supported to solve above problem.

20

Fixed Problems Fixed the bug that a contact force of Arc Guide has occasionally a wrong value. Fixed the bug that a sheet contact doesn’t occasionally work when a nodal

flexible body and Sheet Shell are modeled in the same subsystem. Fixed the bug that Boundary Condition is not applied to the inertia reference

frame.

New Functions Step function in gas force

Step function is supported in dialog box of gas force.
