What is Happening with RAP? RAP has been on the move across the island, online, and is on target to build Human Rights Awareness in Jamaica. RAP has: Trained over 800 youth in Human Rights and Advocacy in: Kingston & St Andrew, St Catherine, St Elizabeth, Manchester, St Thomas, Clarendon and the Lister Mair/Gilby School for the Deaf. Held our first Public Forum on Human Rights in Allman Town on September 25 – The topic - ‘Social, Economic and Cultural Rights’ Written, printed and published the Guide to Rights Toolkit – a 36-page booklet, and two animated videos - History of Human Rights and Guide to Advocacy. Engaged Jamaica on www.rapjamaica.org, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Erected 8 Billboards and Community Signs across the island with the slogan – I Have Rights. You Have Rights. Know Your Human Rights! Commissioned research to asses Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and their operational environment to assist in the formulation of recommendations and initiatives for RAP’s CSO capacity-building and engagement. What Will RAP Do Next? Continuing to promote a culture of Human Rights and Advocacy across Jamaica – RAP will: Select 100 graduates of the Youth Human Rights and Advocacy trainings for extensive training in Human Rights Advocacy. Hire a Human Rights Consultant to lead the project’s work with CSOs. Celebrate International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2014 Human Rights Facts? 30 Human Rights were agreed in 1948 by the United Nations and enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Jamaica has demonstrated extraordinary international leadership in advancing the acceptance of Human Rights internationally. Jamaica lobbied for and celebrated International Human Rights Year in 1968. The Human Rights of Jamaicans are enshrined in our Constitution, amended in 2011 to include the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms Act. If you know your Human Rights, no one can take them away from you.  What is Happening with RAP?

RAP has been on the move across the island, online, and is on target to build Human Rights Awareness in

30 Human Rights were agreed in 1948 by the United Nations and

enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
