Week Two April 24, 2017 April 24th The Quick Write this week was: "Describe what you'd do with your life if money wasn't an issue." If ordinary people suddenly were granted with wealth, their chances of being someone's hero would increase by tenfold. However, the amount of people that responded irreverently, saying they would travel or buy houses, was unsettling at best. A way for ordinary people to be heroes is to give what they have to help people less fortunate than them. Being a hero takes someone who's willing to reach out to people with their privileges, whether they're economic privileges or anything else. Week Two April 24, 2017

April 26th On April 26th, our class analyzed the song American Pie by Don Mclean. This is Don’s one hit wonder and one of Mr. A’s favorite songs, “ this song is on the same epic level of Don’t Stop Believing”. Don dreamed of being a singer ever since he heard his hero Buddy Holly. Don worked as a local paper boy and his world came crashing down when he read the headline “The Day That Music Died”. There was a plane crash that his hero had died

in, that day the “American Dream” or American Pie had died for everyone. That day music started to change and Don wasn’t too happy with that. Don hated the new rock music that his generation started loving. Don along with the older generation believed that rock music was satanic. Don’s unpopular opinion made him stand out and feel abnormal. Sometimes Don would get a glimmer of hope that his music would make a comeback but as he grew older his opinion was

unchanged. Even the shift in rock made by Bob Dylan couldn’t change his mind. The song American Pie was Don’s story with music and how “ the day music died” changed his life.
