Congratulations to the Tippecanoe High School Class of 2019. On Saturday evening, Tipp City Schools held its 142nd Annual Commencement Exercise and awarded 195 diplomas to very deserving young men and women who successfully fulfilled the requirements set before them. These new graduates were just kindergarten students during my early years with the district and it has been a true joy watching them mature into confident, young adults prepared for the next chapter in their lives. I am so proud of who they have become and all that they have accomplished in the classroom and through their extra-curricular activities. I share a common parental sentiment; time passes too quickly! I hope students have fond memories of their time with Tipp City Schools and feel well prepared for their post-graduation plans. Whether they are soon departing for college, entering the military, starting a new job, learning a trade, or taking a mission trip, I know they leave Tipp City Schools with a strong foundation rooted in a tradition of excellence. We know you will do great things!

Scout

Congratulations to 4 Tippecanoe High School graduates who earned Eagle Scout. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Since its inception in 1911, only four percent of Scouts have earned this rank after a lengthy review process. Each student completed an Eagle Scout project as part of the merit process. Josiah Allan cleared honeysuckle from Bruckner Nature Center; Trevor Bolanger built benches for the Tipp City Senior Center; Tristan Spencer painted the interior of the former Tipp City Senior Center; Ethan Wendel created a Historic Building Tour for Downtown Tipp City. All four recipients are from Boy Scout Troop 395.

College and Career Signing Day at Tippecanoe High School

Members of the Tippecanoe High School Class of 2019 signed their Certificate of Commitment during the school’s annual College and Career Signing Day. Whether continuing their education, entering the military, or obtaining employment, students pledged to invest in the future.

Elevate the Arts Showcases Students’ Talents

The district-wide Elevate the Arts was a great success. The evening featured visual, theatrical, and musical arts. It included a gallery of student artwork in grades K to 12, a fashion show, one-acts, and performances by many groups. Now in its third year, the event was a tremendous display of spectacular student talent.

Tippecanoe Middle School Honors Students TMS Student Achievement Award This award is determined by the staff and it recognizes a student who is exemplary in the areas of Citizenship, Leadership, Scholarship, and Sportsmanship. Congratulations to Aila Dunkle.

Red Devil Award This award is determined by the staff. It recognizes students who work extremely hard and demonstrate integrity, character, effort, and kindness towards others. Congratulations to Keenan Melton.

Optimist Student of the Year Award This award is determined by the staff and it recognizes the school’s top 8th grade academic student. This student puts forth their best effort every day and works hard to be successful in the classroom. Congratulations to Hannah Wildermuth.

Archie Griffin Award This award is presented to an 8th grade male and female student athlete who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship in their school and community. Congratulations to DJ Martin and Hannah Wildermuth.

In his courtroom in the Dayton, Ohio Federal Courthouse, Judge Michael Newman hosted Tippecanoe High School students. The students heard presentations from Judge Newman, career law clerk Mike Rhinehart, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Koller, and Deputy U.S. Marshal Ivan Garcia. Topics included federal jurisdiction, the structure of the federal courts, separation of powers, state versus federal courts, criminal and civil cases, trials, mediations, the Judiciary Act of 1789, and the history of the Southern District of Ohio.

Civic Lessons at the Courthouse

The Tippecanoe High School Chess Club hosted its last meeting of the year. Josh Miller (seated in the photo) earned Player of the Year and won the chess set in front of him. Other members of the Chess Club are left to right Anne Lyons, Jade Smith, Alayna Trucksis, Laely Bishop, and Gemma Miller.

Order in the Courtroom

Broadway Elementary students in Mary Kate Lefeld’s class held Fairytale Court. The 2nd graders read a variety of fairytales from different cultures and compared and contrasted the versions. Students were fairytale detectives, looked at the story from the character’s viewpoints and created cases for both sides. They then crafted Fairytale trials to lock up Cinderella’s stepsisters, Jack the Giant Slayer, and the Big Bad Wolf for their crimes! We performed these trials for the other 2nd graders who served as jurors.

2019-2020 Bus Transportation

The DEADLINE for daycare/babysitter school transportation is August 9, 2019. The district cannot accept

late requests. The transportation department will resume taking requests on September 3, 2019 pending

space availability.

At the end of each school year, a student’s transportation needs are put back to their home address. Tipp

City Schools cannot assume students will utilize the same daycare provider as in the previous school year.

PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST SUBMIT A WRITTEN REQUEST (EMAIL IS ACCEPTABLE AS AN ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE) TO THE BUILDING OFFICE OF THE SCHOOL THE STUDENT ATTENDS OR THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT AT THE BOARD OF EDUCATION BUILDING. THE REQUEST MUST INCLUDE:

This year both youth summer camps will be on the turf at the park. All participants will receive a Camp T-shirt, a picture with a favorite player or coach, and autographs on the final day. Campers get plenty of

water and Gatorade, quality instruction from varsity players and coaches, and loads of fun!

Register for Camp of Champs or Little Man Camp by July 4th to ensure the camper gets the correct t-shirt size.

2019 Girls Volleyball Instructional Camp

Camp will focus on teaching fundamental volleyball skills in a competitive and fun environment. Campers will get to participate in drills, games, and scrimmages to help them understand and enjoy

the game!

Current 2nd – 6th Graders
