Gonna Call BACTERIA BUSTERS Tipp Citys 2010 Lego League team The Rolling Bones are back at it again in 2011

This time as the Bacteria Busters The returning team of Colin Achterberg Bryce

McCullough Logan Oskey Michael Pfister Alyssa Stewart and Ian Stewart are

working hard to conquer this years challenge titled Food Factor For this challenge

the teams will build test and program a robot using Legos to solve a set of Food

Safety missions as well as research develop and share their innovative food safety

solutions Over 200000 kids from over 55 countries will take part in this years

challenge

The team is feverishly

modifying and programming

their robot to complete as many

missions as possible in the allotted 2

minutes and 30 seconds time period Last

year the team posted a remarkable come-

from-behind win to take the regional

trophy in the robot competition resulting

in an invitation to the state tournament In

addition to designing a robot the team

must also work on a research project

related to food safety LT Balls Tammy

Green recently provided the team with a

behind-the-scenes look at how the cafeteria

staff works hard to keep our food safe The tour covered everything from hand washing to

temperature control to the impressive machinery used to wash and clean hundreds of trays each

day The team is working hard on an innovative solution to help improve food safety

This years regional tournament will be held at Sinclair Community College on Dec 3rd The event is open to the public

videos in their homerooms to doing worksheets

Participation Fees should be paid at the Winter Sports Orientation For High and Middle School Sports Monday November 21st 700 pm in the CPA at THS

This is a mandatory meeting with Matt Shomper for all Winter sport athletes and parents that did not

attend the Fall Sports Orientation

Tables will be set up one hour ahead of time for fee collection and will resume after the meeting

If you have already attended the Sports Orientation meeting the individual sports will be holding their

meeting after the orientation meeting which will be about 745 pm

All fees must be paid by November 25th

Participation Fees ndash 20112012 School Year Due to cuts in public school state funding Tipp City Exempted Village Schools will be introducing a participation fee for extra-

curricular activities beginning the 20112012 school year The fees will only be used to off-set the General Fund expenses of the

activity and they will allow us to maintain the high level and variety of extra-curricular activities that our students have experienced

in the past years We will be reviewing this fee schedule on a year to year basis

Tipp City Schools needs Volunteers for Project MORE At a recent State conference Dr Gretta Kumpf learned about Project MORE

Project MORE is a program designed to improve the reading levels of students with disabilities

Initially the program director and advisers train principals teachers and paraprofessionals how to

implement Project MORE Volunteers are then recruited and trained to help This program is

designed for about 40 volunteers to come four days a week to support students one-on-one who need

help with reading Assistant Superintendent Dr Kumpf says the District is targeting the program to

start by January 2012 Dr Kumpf building principals and teachers are looking for volunteers that are

willing to come on a regular basis for 30 minutes Monday through Thursday to work with students

A downtown tradition for more than 20 years this year‟s shopkeeper‟s open house

weekend will include a children‟s parade Each child should bring a canned good to

donate to The Needy Basket and will receive a red balloon as they line up to walk

behind Santa‟s horse drawn wagon from 1st amp Main down to 4th amp Main Parade

will be at 12 pm children should meet with their parents at 1st amp Main Street Santa

Short Story Contest Eligibility The TCAAC Short Story Contest is open to everyone (including

homeschooled and tutored children) regardless of experience or previous

publication except where prohibited Employees and agents of the Tipp City Area

Arts Council and their immediate families are ineligible and may not enter Each entrant may submit one short story

of no more than 5000 words and in any form provided that the content of the story is not vulgar or offensive does not employ

profanity and is the original individual work of the entrant All submissions become the property of the Tipp City Area Arts Council

and will be considered for publication Entrants retain copyright on hisher own individual work Submissions by multiple entrants

may be mailed together in one package to save on postage All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form Entrants

must complete the entry form its entirety to qualify for the contest and may submit no more than one short story per contest

Contest Dates The TCAAC Short Story Contest ends November 14 2011 All entries must be submitted by midnight on November

14 2011 Any entries submitted after midnight November 14 2011 will not be considered

Selection Short stories are judged based on originality creativity and artistic quality Short stories not meeting the requirements for

Tipp City Schools needs Volunteers for Project MORE At a recent State conference Dr Gretta Kumpf learned about Project MORE

Project MORE is a program designed to improve the reading levels of students with disabilities

Initially the program director and advisers train principals teachers and paraprofessionals how to

implement Project MORE Volunteers are then recruited and trained to help This program is

designed for about 40 volunteers to come four days a week to support students one-on-one who need

help with reading Assistant Superintendent Dr Kumpf says the District is targeting the program to

start by January 2012 Dr Kumpf building principals and teachers are looking for volunteers that are

willing to come on a regular basis for 30 minutes Monday through Thursday to work with students

A downtown tradition for more than 20 years this year‟s shopkeeper‟s open house

weekend will include a children‟s parade Each child should bring a canned good to

donate to The Needy Basket and will receive a red balloon as they line up to walk

behind Santa‟s horse drawn wagon from 1st amp Main down to 4th amp Main Parade

will be at 12 pm children should meet with their parents at 1st amp Main Street Santa

will then be at Sugden Furniture for photos until 3 pm Horse drawn rides will

continue Sat until 5 and also Sun 12-5

of no more than 5000 words and in any form provided that the content of the story is not vulgar or offensive does not employ

profanity and is the original individual work of the entrant All submissions become the property of the Tipp City Area Arts Council

and will be considered for publication Entrants retain copyright on hisher own individual work Submissions by multiple entrants

may be mailed together in one package to save on postage All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form Entrants

This time as the Bacteria Busters The returning team of Colin Achterberg Bryce

McCullough Logan Oskey Michael Pfister Alyssa Stewart and Ian Stewart are

working hard to conquer this years challenge titled Food Factor For this challenge

the teams will build test and program a robot using Legos to solve a set of Food

Safety missions as well as research develop and share their innovative food safety

solutions Over 200000 kids from over 55 countries will take part in this years

challenge

The team is feverishly

modifying and programming

their robot to complete as many

missions as possible in the allotted 2

minutes and 30 seconds time period Last

year the team posted a remarkable come-

from-behind win to take the regional

trophy in the robot competition resulting

in an invitation to the state tournament In

addition to designing a robot the team

must also work on a research project

related to food safety LT Balls Tammy

Green recently provided the team with a

behind-the-scenes look at how the cafeteria

staff works hard to keep our food safe The tour covered everything from hand washing to

temperature control to the impressive machinery used to wash and clean hundreds of trays each

This is a mandatory meeting with Matt Shomper for all Winter sport athletes and parents that did not

attend the Fall Sports Orientation

Tables will be set up one hour ahead of time for fee collection and will resume after the meeting

This is a mandatory meeting with Matt Shomper for all Winter sport athletes and parents that did not

attend the Fall Sports Orientation

Tables will be set up one hour ahead of time for fee collection and will resume after the meeting

If you have already attended the Sports Orientation meeting the individual sports will be holding their

meeting after the orientation meeting which will be about 745 pm

Tipp City Schools needs Volunteers for Project MORE At a recent State conference Dr Gretta Kumpf learned about Project MORE

Project MORE is a program designed to improve the reading levels of students with disabilities

Initially the program director and advisers train principals teachers and paraprofessionals how to

implement Project MORE Volunteers are then recruited and trained to help This program is

designed for about 40 volunteers to come four days a week to support students one-on-one who need

help with reading Assistant Superintendent Dr Kumpf says the District is targeting the program to

start by January 2012 Dr Kumpf building principals and teachers are looking for volunteers that are

willing to come on a regular basis for 30 minutes Monday through Thursday to work with students

behind Santa‟s horse drawn wagon from 1st amp Main down to 4th amp Main Parade

will be at 12 pm children should meet with their parents at 1st amp Main Street Santa

will then be at Sugden Furniture for photos until 3 pm Horse drawn rides will

continue Sat until 5 and also Sun 12-5

Short Story Contest Eligibility The TCAAC Short Story Contest is open to everyone (including

homeschooled and tutored children) regardless of experience or previous

publication except where prohibited Employees and agents of the Tipp City Area

Arts Council and their immediate families are ineligible and may not enter Each entrant may submit one short story

of no more than 5000 words and in any form provided that the content of the story is not vulgar or offensive does not employ

profanity and is the original individual work of the entrant All submissions become the property of the Tipp City Area Arts Council

and will be considered for publication Entrants retain copyright on hisher own individual work Submissions by multiple entrants

may be mailed together in one package to save on postage All entries sent by mail must include completed entry form Entrants

must complete the entry form its entirety to qualify for the contest and may submit no more than one short story per contest

Contest Dates The TCAAC Short Story Contest ends November 14 2011 All entries must be submitted by midnight on November

14 2011 Any entries submitted after midnight November 14 2011 will not be considered

Selection Short stories are judged based on originality creativity and artistic quality Short stories not meeting the requirements for

page limitation are automatically disqualified Stories containing profanity vulgarity or offensive material are automatically

disqualified

Prizes There will be one prize for each age group Group 1 Grades 4-6 Group 2 Grades 7-8 Group 3 Grades 9-12 Group 4
