Quick Knit Baby Shrug Designed by Natalie Haban for nat & callie knits. Size is for 18-24 months and since I used my daughter as my mannequin, here’s what I came up with. I will try and work other sizes in once I get a chance. Enjoy! Needles: US 10 (6mm) or size to obtain gauge. I used straight needles, but circular or DP are recommended. Gauge: 4 sts = 1” in St. st Other Stuff: 4 Stitch markers, DP needles (optional), embroidery floss, needle, & tapestry needle. WS: Wrong side kfb: knit front and back RS: Right SIde K: knit P: purl Cast on 45 stitches and work in 1x1 Rib (K1, P1) for 3 rows. If using circular or DP needles, no do join. Just knit back and forth as with straight needles. If adding a button hole, do this on the second row as a YO, k2tog on the third stitch in. Quick Knit Baby ShrugDesigned by Natalie Haban for nat & callie knits.

Row 4 (Set-up WS): Slip 1, K2, P6, place marker, P7, place marker, P13, place marker, P7, place marker, P6, K3.

Row 5 (Increase RS): Slip 1, K2 *knit to 2 stitches before marker, kfb, K1, slip marker, K1, kfb and repeat from * three more times. Knit to end of row.

Row 6: Slip 1, K2, purl to last 3 stitches, K3.

NOTE: Always slip the first stitch of every row.

Repeat rows 5 & 6 for at least 9-11 more times. For the next 3 rows, knit 1x1 Rib on the sleeve portion only!

End on WS to form sleeves.

On WS: Slip 1, K2, purl to the stitch before marker and begin to bind off purl wise till the next stitch marker. Remove all stitch markers as you come to them and only bind off in the sleeve part. Do this for the second sleeve. Purl to last 3 stitches, K3.

Next row (RS): Slip 1, knit to end.Next row (WS); Slip1, K2, purl to last 3 stitches, K3.

Repeat last two rows 4-5 more times. Time to begin 1x1 Rib for the bottom of the shrug.Next Row (RS): Slip 1, K1, P1 in 1x1 Rib to end.Next Row (WS): Slip 1, continue in 1x1 Rib as established.Next Row (RS): Slip 1, K1, P1 in 1x1 Rib to end.

Bind off next row purl wise and weave in all loose ends.

Optional Hook: Using DP needles, CO 3 stitches and knit an i-cord as long as needed in order to create a loop big enough for your button to pass through. Bind off and sew onto shrug at the top. Sew button on opposite side.

Feel free to embroider anything cute or fun and block to shape.
