The Questions of the Grave

The questions of the grave: Who is your Lord? Who is your Prophet? What is your deen? - Allah completed our religion for us. Nothing is added to it. - We talked about the Prophets last time. We believe that The Prophet has passed

away.

- In the introduction, we talked about the knowledge, hanifiyah - Then we talked about the three questions - In the conclusion, we talk about to believe in the resurrection, hisaab wa mizaan,

belief in the Prophets, disbelief in at-taghoot, and believing in Allah. 1) Firstly, we believe that people will be resurrected: In Surah Taha, there is an evidence that the people from the Earth have been created, we will return to earth, then we will be resurrected. In Surah Nuh, there is another evidence: Allah made us grow from the earth, then we will return to it, then we will come it.

- We are taking everything from the earth, eating from it, etc. Then we will be buried in the Earth, then we will be resurrected from it. SubhanAllah.

- Why do we need to be resurrected? To be accounted for.

The Questions of the Grave

2) Account (Hisaab) and Mizaan (scales) • Accounting- can be in public, in private, or some people by pass this • Hisaab- we will know whether we go to Jannah or Hell Fire. But the Al-Mizaan- to see

where exactly we will be in Jannah or Hell-Fire. We will see the Justice of Allah subhanAllah.

• Evidence: Ayah Surah Najm: Belongs to Allah what is in the dominon and Allah will recompense them.

3) Iman bi Rusul- Faith in the Prophets

• We talked about this before in the pillars of Iman. It comes back in the conclusion and this shows that there is no way to follow except by the teachings of the messengers.

• They give the glad tidings to those who follow and warning to those who do not follow.

• All of this in Usool thalath, we take it and we need to follow it. This is a hujjah, a proof for you. There is nothing after the messengers.

• The first messenger is Nuh and the last messenger is Muhammad. • Allah sent all the Prophets and all of them had one message: to worship Allah alone. • The messengers came to forbid the people from worshipping At-Taghoot • Why is it in the conclusion? Because we will not know anything without the

messengers that Allah sent. We need to believe it very firmly.

4) Disbelieve in At-Taghoot and Faith in Allah • Don’t worship anyone else beside Allah • Faith in Allah alone. This means we do not have faith in magic, other people, etc. We

need to disbelief in at-taghoot. Need to deny anything else and put our faith in Allah. • Nothing harms or benefit, no one does anything- therefore we need to disbelieve in it. • Then after disbelieving in everything else, we believe in Allah alone.

- At-Taga= means exceeding the boundaries - When a person sees the creation, they know that they are created for a certain job

and they are also created as a sign of Allah’s creation. - Taghoot means anyone that someone exaggerates their status to more than what

they were created for. They exaggerate them in worship or in following or in obedience.

- The people make the other thing/person a taghoot because they humiliate themselves to them. You are a slave but you make something taghoot depending on how you think about it- meaning you exaggerate the creation.

- For example, you give a status to something more than what he is, exceeding the boundaries. The stars are created for a specific purpose, but then when you say it is for more than that.

- Firaun is taghoot. Was Isa taghoot? No, because he didn’t accept it. - If people accepted them worshipping him, this is taghoot.

- Taghoot is also those that are fans, followers of something other than Allah and His messenger. Blind followers. Even if it’s singers or even religious people. They copy them.

- But we should only follow the Prophet, how he eats, dress, etc. - Taghoot can be from blind obedience. You obey Allah and the Messengers and no

one else. Allah said to do, I do. Allah said not to do, I don’t do. - Taghoot is in exceed boundaries in either of 3 things: In worship, in following,

and in obedience.

1) Iblis – people worship him and obey him. May Allah protect us. Evidence in the Quran: In Surah Maryam, Allah says what means, “Do not worship Shaytaan,” meaning there are who people worship shaytaan. They worship something ugly. People also obey and follow shaytaan.

2) Someone accepts others worshipping him- people make him high in status, attach to him, magnify him, hope in him, fear him. This is taghoot. This person accepts people praising him and humiliating himself to him.

3) Someone who invites the people to worship him- ex: Firaun. In #2, someone is pleased with the worship even though he didn’t invite others to worship him. In #3, they invite people and call people to worship them. There are some sects in Islam that invite people to worship the wali/shuyookh, fear the wali, etc. Go to graves and worship them, etc.

4) Someone who claims they know the ghayb (unseen)- “I know what you’re going to do tomorrow, I know what you did before, I know what you think, etc.” Shaytaan tricks them think that they have a sixth sense and it seems easier on them to think that. Sometimes when people revert, they find that they have thoughts that the previous religion is better because they find things work easier. Things that work easier or seem smoother doesn’t mean it is right. Sometimes people attend debates to see what others will say, but then it brings fitnah. Shaytaan wants you to go into kufr and shirk.

5) You make judgment from your desires Anyone who judges differently than what Allah sent. It is like you make yourself as a ruler. This person is a taghoot. There is no compulsion in religion; it shows what is right and what is wrong. Disbelieve in at-taghoot- meaning you disbelieve in anyone that say they know the unseen, in people that call to worship them, etc. Then you believe in Allah. Hold fast to the rope of Allah.
