The Questions of the Grave- The Books Allah knows the people are in need of guidance. Allah knows if people will follow or not follow the message, however He sent the message. He sent a manual for our lives.

2:38 We said: "Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve.

When Allah sent the Adam down, we need guidance, a divine message from above. If we didn’t have a book, misguidance, fear, and misery will come.

We believe that there are divine books. Allah sent books to show the people how to be established in this world with justice. We are really in need of a book. Imagine having a country without rules or laws—this would be chaos. The manual should be written so that people know the boundaries. We use our Aql and realize that we cannot have this whole universe without a book of guidance.

Every messenger has a book- whether they brought a new book or followed a book from before them. Even with a book there is ikhtilaaf- differences. Therefor, this is an evidence that we need a book.

We also believe that it is guidance. It is life. The Quran will not really give benefit unless you believe in it. A disbeliever that reads the Quran and does not believe in it will not guide him.

Belief in a Book is a part of Iman in the Unseen

Iman is usually talking about something unseen. Belief in the Quran is believing in unseen because we believe that is divinely revealed. It is Allah’s Words

3 We believe what is in the Quran is the truth and it is just. We believe in all the previous books—but the original versions that were revealed, not the present day ones that have been changed by man. The ones that have been changed are not Allah’s words anymore, they are words of desires. The previous books, such as the Torah and Injil (bible) is truth and justice. The Quran has truth and justice.

57:38 Indeed We have sent Our Messengers with clear proofs, and revealed with them the Scripture and the Balance (justice) that mankind may keep up justice. And We brought forth iron wherein is mighty power (in matters of war), as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that Allah may test who it is that will help Him (His religion), and His Messengers in the unseen. Verily, Allah is All-Strong, All-Mighty.

4 To believe in the books that we know and the books we do not know. There are so many books Allah sent on the Messnegers, but we only know the few: Torah, Zuboor, Injil, Suhoof, Quran. The Quran is the best. Similarly, we do not know all the Messengers either.

For Messengers- we say Allah sent Messenger (Irsaal Ar-Rasool)

For Kitaab- we say Inzaal Al-Kutoob, meaning revealed, from up to down

Those who chose not to believe in one of the books has left the fold of Islam. A person also may leave the fold of Islam if he believes there are no other books except for the five. Or maybe they believe that there is a book after Quran. These beliefs are all leaving the fold of Islam (Kaafir). The pillars of Iman means that all of the pillars need to be believed in totally or else one leaves the fold of Islam.

4:136 O you who have believed, believe in Allah and His Messenger and the Book that He sent down upon His Messenger and the Scripture which He sent down before. And whoever disbelieves in Allah , His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has certainly gone far astray.

1 A Reference- We always need the Quran as a reference. We need to refer to it. If we have a problem, we go to it. Each Messenger had their reference. Manmade books have so many mistakes. The messengers don’t even write one letter in the book—it is divine. It is Allah who said it.

2 A Judge- Whatever people have disputed, whatever differences, we consult the Quran and someone who knows the Quran (someone knowledge). If you don’t know, you ask someone who knows about how to do it. 21:7 so ask the people of the message if you do not know.

A Guard- It is a guard of the religion after the death of the Prophet (SallAllah Alayhi Wa Salam). After the Messenger’s death, we can still follow the message because of the book. After Isa alayhi salam, there was nothing until the Prophet. When the Prophet got the message, Khadijah RadiyAllah Anha took her to Waraqah, and he read the book. Therefore, it shows that the Injil was guarding the religion until the Quran came. Even in the Torah, there was a description of the Prophet. Allah guard the Quran until the end of the World, He will raise it from them because people do not respect it.

A Proof – There is no excuse. If someone got an official letter, they cannot argue out of it. No one can say no message came to you after reading it, it is a proof. No one can escape from this proof.

The Special Status of the Quran

It is a Miracle on its own – This is not like other books. It is a miracle by meaning and the wording. There is nothing that is recited like the Quran, even the stories, the rules, and the science inside it is recited. Allah knows who to give to what. The Torah was more rules, The Zuboor was more about the Tasbeeh, the Injil was more spiritual. The Quran has everything. No one can write or compose something like the Quran. With other poems, Sometimes even the structure is nice but there is no meaning. Only in the Quran you find abuot the sun, moon, the embryo—these are all miracles. The Muslims are the first one who know all these science without spending 1 dollar.

When they discover, they might it get it wrong. People are so amazed by their discoveries that they sometimes get wrong or get injured doing it. But we should focus our time and money for Allah’s sake.

It is the Last book revealed – It is universal and it is the last book. There are people who believe that other books will come. But the Quran is the last revealed book.

Allah took charge of protecting the Quran from changing the meaning or exchange – Allah is able to prevent the other books from changing but with His wisdom He protected the Quran.

It affirms what comes before but it overpower the other books– We don’t say Injil and Torah now. Just the Quran. Umar was happy that he took the Torah to read from it but the Prophet did not approve.

It abrogated all the other books—We have a new curriculum to follow. It abrogated the previous books. When Injil came in abrogated the Torah. When the Quran came, it abrogated the Injil and the Torah.

Don’t get busy with the other revealed books. Make the Quran sufficient for you. We need to follow everything in the Quran also.
