“Retrieving the past to construct the present and design the future”

“Let’s work collectively to retain the Chapter’s vision with integrity and sustain the legacy of our illustrious sisterhood.”

Sisterly and sincerely,

Evelyn Peters Dean Evelyn Peters Dean President

One Band, One Sound, One Voice, One Vision, SHFBAC!

Greetings My Sisters of the Suburban Houston Fort Bend Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

God’s love, grace and mercy have sustained us over the last few weeks. We have all been impacted by this natural disaster. Many of you have answered the call and assisted Sorors feeling Harvey’s disastrous effects by offering your services to Sorors, providing much needed food and supplies, or taking just a moment to pray for those living through this torrential storm. We applaud you all for your generous involvement. Remember that God cares and He is greater than our circumstances.

As we move forward this sorority year, I am asking for your help to make a difference by promoting academic excellence, economic development, social and political awareness in our service area. I charge you to accept the challenge to join one committee to serve as a strong advocate and voice in our local community and service area.

The 53rd National Convention was held August 3-9, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The chapter had 61 chapter members who registered for this event. Our chapter dinner was held at the Luxor Hotel and Casino Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. We were charged to “Stay Woke and Tell Our Story.” Special thanks to our 53rd National Convention Committee: Sorors Denise Boone, Shirley Brown, Deborah LeBlanc and EuRhonda Morgan for a well-planned chapter dinner.

Let’s continue to pray for our Sorors who are sick, shut in, and those who have love one’s ill or those who have lost loved ones in recent months. God is our Refuge and Strength (mighty and impenetrable to temptation), a very present and well-proved help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 AMP.

CHAPLAIN’S

Heavenly Father, we wait in anxious anticipation of the coming of your Son. Reveal Him to us in new ways, Lord. Let him be born in our hearts to find where we are in our walk of faith. Walk with me Lord. Help me to make Christ the most important person in my life. Fill my heart with songs of praise and joy. Send the light of the world into my life, and shine forth through me so that others might see how wonderful You are. Lord, fill me with praise and joy and spiritual thoughts. Be the foundation that I stand on Lord.

Remember, No matter how long it takes, stay in faith & keep your hopes up because God has promised to finish the good work he started in your life. In Jesus Name Amen.

MONTHLY PRAYER

PSALM 3:5-6

Those who live in close communion with God have a better understanding of His will and His ways. If we devote ourselves to God, He will reveal Himself to us in so many ways. So rejoice in God’s creation. Embrace it and know God!

Let us embrace this new Sorority year with excitement, energy, anticipation and a willingness to love each other as Christ loved us.
