Prospectus is available only as PDF document on GMCH Website gmch.gov.in for
viewing/downloading.
Application form is available online only at GMCH Website. Candidate has to fill this
online application form and submit it online once completed.
Candidates are advised to go through the admission notice published in the
newspaper and instructions given in the prospectus carefully before filling the online
Application Form.
Application fee: Application fee can be paid online only.

MD/MS Courses: Session 2019
PG-1: General Information and Number of Seats
The Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh invites application for
admission to three year Postgraduate Degree Courses (MD/MS) for the year-2019.
The total numbers of seats for admission in the year 2019 are 128 which are divided into All
India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota as below:
1. All India Quota (AIQ): 64 Seats. In compliance of the Hon’ble Supreme Court
decision, 50% of total numbers of seats are reserved for All India Quota.
2. State Quota: 64 Seats. In compliance of the decision of Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana
High Court, distribution of 50% State Quota seats are as below:

A. Institutional Preference Pool (IP): Candidates who have passed their MBBS
examination from Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh.
B. UT Chandigarh Pool: Candidate who fulfill eligibility criteria as below:
This category will include candidates with background of Chandigarh. To be
eligible for this category candidate should fulfill any of the following criteria:-
i. Studied for a period of 5 years in Union Territory of Chandigarh at any time
prior to the last date of the submission of the application.
ii. Candidates whose parents have resided in Union Territory of Chandigarh for
a period of at least 5 years at any time prior to the last date of the submission
of the application either in pursuit of a profession or holding of a job.
iii. Children of persons who have held/hold immovable property in Union Territory
of Chandigarh for a period of five years at any time prior to the last date of the
submission of the application. The property should be in the name of the
parents or the candidate himself/herself.
Important Note:
a) To be eligible for UT Chandigarh Pool under B (i), the candidate must submit
a certificate to the effect from Principal of School/College located within the
territory of UT Chandigarh.

b) To be eligible under B (ii), the candidate should submit a certificate issued by
the D.C. of UT Chandigarh to the effect that the candidate or his parents have
been residing/ have resided in Chandigarh at least for 5 years.
c) To be eligible under B (iii), the candidate must submit a certificate issued by
D.C.-cum-Estate officer/Tehsildar stating that the candidate/parents of the
candidate have held/are holding immovable property in UT Chandigarh for at
least for 5 years prior to the submission of application.
3. Eligibility for admission against seats reserved for Schedule Castes (SC): In
compliance to the direction of Hon’ble Punjab & Haryana High Court, only those
candidates who have obtained SC certificate from competent authority of
Chandigarh Administration will be eligible for admission under this category..

Note: The distribution of seats having odd number in above disciplines has been
started from the department of Obstt. & Gynae from the UT Chandigarh Pool. The reservation of seats has been started from the department of Obstt. & Gynae as during the year 2018 last reservation was upto the department of Microbiology.
Distribution of seats:
I. The departments having one seat will have All India Quota allocation every
alternative year.
II. The departments having two seats will have All India Quota allocation of one seat
each every year.
III. The departments having three seats will have All India Quota allocation of one
and two seats every alternative year.
IV. Allocation of discipline for 15% Scheduled Castes category seats (UT
Chandigarh Pool) will be made by rotation in alphabetic order of the discipline.
V. Same pattern of seat allocation, as mentioned above from I-IV, will be followed
while calculating the seats for Institutional Preference Pool and UT Chandigarh
Pool under State Quota seats.
VI. In calculation of percentage of seats for reserved for SC candidates, the figure
has been rounded off to lower whole number if decimal point is less than 0.5 and
to higher whole number if the decimal point is 0.5 or more.
PG-2: Eligibility Criteria for All India Quota, State Quota and leftover seats if any
1. Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
2. A candidate must have come in the merit list of NEET-PG 2019 by securing following
minimum marks:
General Category: not less than 50 Percentile
SC Category: not less than 40 Percentile

If Central Government in consultation with Medical Council of India may at its
discretion lower the minimum marks required for admission to postgraduate course
for candidates belonging to respective categories then these marks so lowered by
the Central Government shall be applicable.
3. The candidates should have completed compulsory rotatory internship
satisfactorily by 31st March, 2019.
4. Registration with MCI/State Medical Council is necessary.
PG-3: Admission under All India Quota Seats (64 Seats):
1. These seats will be allocated through online counseling by Medical Counseling
Committee (MCC) constituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare based on
rank in NEET-PG 2019 conducted by National Board of Examinations (NBE) for
admission in postgraduate courses (MD/MS) for the year 2019.
2. The candidates will be allocated to the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh
as per their preference in order of their rank in NEET-PG 2019.
3. The candidates also have to fulfill all relevant eligibility criteria as laid down in the
Information Bulletin for All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination 2019
issued by National Board of Examinations (NBE)

5. All relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable on All
India Quota candidates allocated to Government Medical College & Hospital.
PG-4: Admission for State Quota (Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool)
seats (64 Seats):
A. Institutional Preference Pool (IP): Candidates who have passed their MBBS
examination from Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh.
B. UT Chandigarh Pool: Candidate who fulfill eligibility criteria as below:
This category will include candidates with background of Chandigarh. To be
eligible for this category candidate should fulfill any of the following criteria:-
i. Studied for a period of 5 years in Union Territory of Chandigarh at any time
prior to the last date of the submission of the application.
ii. Candidates whose parents have resided in Union Territory of Chandigarh for
a period of at least 5 years at any time prior to the last date of the submission

Important Note:

1. For MS (Anatomy), candidates who don’t fulfill the eligibility criteria for Institutional
Preference/UT Chandigarh Pool but have worked as demonstrator in the Department
of Anatomy, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh, for one year
or more, are also eligible to apply for MS (Anatomy) UT Chandigarh Pool seats as
General Category departmental candidates. However they should have appeared in
NEET-PG 2019 and fulfill all applicable eligibility criteria.
2. 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates in each category. Only
those Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates who have obtained SC certificate from UT
Chandigarh shall be eligible to apply against these seats.
3. Admission will be made strictly on the basis of rank secured in NEET-PG 2019.
PG-5: Admission for State Quota seats (Institutional Preference Pool /UT Chandigarh Pool)
1. All Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool candidates have to fill
application form online, available at GMCH Website www.gmch.gov.in.
2. Candidate has to pay the fee online.
3. Last date of submitting completed application form online is 28.03.2019 upto 5.00
pm.

4. Eligible category i.e. whether eligible for Institutional Preference Pool or UT
Chandigarh Pool or both and if eligible for SC seats, should be in the prescribed
column of the online application form. No addition of category/reservation will be
allowed once form has been submitted.
5. If candidate is eligible for both Institutional Preference and UT Chandigarh Pool,
She/he can select both categories.
6. Before applying, candidates are advised to go through the admission notice
published in the newspapers and instructions given in the prospectus carefully and
then fill in the online Application Form.
7. Procedure for applying is as depicted in flowchart below. All steps are mandatory to
complete the application process.

Visit GMCH website i.e. “www.gmch.gov.in”
Go to “Admission” Register by clicking on “Candidate Registration”. Candidate will receive a confirmation on
email including his/her Registration ID and password on registered email address
Login by clicking on “Candidate login”
Fill Online Application Form for MD/MS Courses- 2019. Click on “Save Details”. An
Application ID will be displayed on the screen. Please note down this application ID. (A
message will be sent automatically through email). Click on “Next”
Payment of application fee: Pay requisite application fee by selecting the appropriate
category i.e. whether General or SC. Candidate can only fill the rest of the form once
application fee has been successfully paid. Click on “Next”

Upload Photo and Signature in JPG format (<20KB). Click on “Next”
Upload Certificates in PDF format. Click on “Next”
To preview filled application form, click on “Preview”. If satisfied, then click on “Accept
Terms and Conditions”
For final submission click on “Submit”. After this user cannot change or alter application form. Click on “Next”
To take print out of filled application form/forms, click on “Print”
8. Documents to be uploaded as annexure along with online application:
i. NEET-PG 2019 Result card.
ii. Matriculation certificate showing the date of birth.
iii. Detailed marks sheet for all MBBS professionals examinations.
iv. Internship completion certificate.
v. MCI/State Medical Council registration certificate.
vi. Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended
vii. Passport size photograph.
viii. UT Chandigarh Pool candidates: The candidates belonging to UT Chandigarh
Pool should submit relevant certificate(s) from competent authority to
establish eligibility.
ix. Scheduled castes candidates: The candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes
should submit Scheduled Caste certificate issued by competent authority from
UT Chandigarh as per format enclosed at Appendix I. It should be signed and
countersigned by the competent authority mentioned therein.
x. Employed candidate(s): Candidate in employment of Govt./Semi
Govt./Autonomous bodies/Corporation must submit ‘No Objection Certificate’
from his/her employer.
xi. Receipt of payment of application fee paid online
xii. Any other document as applicable

9. Online application process will be locked after 5.00 pm on 28/03/2019. Application
received in any other form, other than online, during the prescribed application
submission period or after due date and time shall not be entertained under any
circumstances, whatsoever.
10. Submission of application form ipso facto, not entitles a candidate to get admission.
It will be subject to laid down eligibility and admission criteria. It will be the
responsibility of the candidate to make sure about his/her eligibility and fulfillment of
such other conditions as may be prescribed for admission in the rules and
regulations of Panjab University & Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32,
Chandigarh.
11. List of eligible candidates will be displayed on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in

PG-6: Counseling for State Quota seats (Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool)
1. The venue for counseling will be:
Director-Principal Office, Level-II, D Block, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32-B, Chandigarh.
2. Date and time of counseling shall be put on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in. No
separate counseling letter will be issued.

3. No TA/DA will be paid for attending counseling.
4. The candidates should report at the counseling venue with any one of the following
photo identification proofs:
i. Aadhaar card
ii. Admit card of last exam passed/appeared by the candidates.
iii. Passport.
iv. Driving license.
v. Voter identity card.
vi. PAN card
5. The candidates should bring with them a complete set of following documents at the
time of counseling:
i. Printout of online submitted application form
Self attested photocopies of following documents:
ii. NEET-PG 2019 Result card.
iii. NEET-PG 2019 Admit card.
iv. Matriculation certificate showing the date of birth.
v. Detailed marks sheet for all MBBS professionals examinations.
vi. Internship completion certificate.
vii. MCI/State Medical Council registration certificate.
viii. Documents to establish eligibility for UT Chandigarh Pool
ix. Reserved category (SC) certificate if applicable.
x. Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.

6. Admission will be made strictly on the basis of Rank secured in NEET- PG 2019.
7. All eligible candidates, including candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes category
(own merit candidates), will be considered for admission against General category
seats according to their rank in the combined list.
8. Candidate(s) belonging to Scheduled Castes who obtain admission in the General
Category on the basis of his/her rank in the combined list shall not be counted
towards the seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes.
9. Candidate(s) belonging to Scheduled Castes who obtain admission in the General
Category on the basis of his/her rank in the combined list will continue to get all the
benefits available to Scheduled Castes candidates
10. Choice of discipline will be offered at the time of compulsory personal appearance
before the Admission Committee in order of rank in combined list/Reserved
category. There are no marks for the counseling.
11. Sequence of counseling will be for General Category seats first, followed by
Reserved Category seats.
12. Sequence in 2nd counseling will be for SC category seats first, followed by General
Category seats (to facilitate conversion of vacant seats from SC to General Category
Seats).
13. If an eligible candidate reports late for counseling when his/her turn according to
his/her rank has already been passed over, he/she will be considered as per
available seat/discipline at the time of his/her actual reporting in the counseling.
14. Second or more counseling will be conducted for the vacant seats, if any.
15. All eligible candidates from Institutional Preference Pool (IP) and UT Chandigarh
Pool, including candidates who could not appear in 1st counseling, are eligible for 2nd
or any subsequent counseling.
16. Candidates who have been allotted seat in first counseling should surrender it in
writing before participating in second or subsequent counseling. The surrender of
seat must be approved by competent authority before the candidate is allowed to
participate in the second or subsequent counseling. If candidate fails to do so,

he/she will not be allowed to participate in the counseling. Procedure for
surrendering allotted seat is as given below:
Selected candidate should submit a letter notifying surrender of allotted seat, in
person, to Director-Principal/Registrar Academics at least a day prior to 2nd or
subsequent counseling. Letter submitted by anybody else, other than candidate
himself/herself surrendering the seat, will not be accepted.
17. Seat(s) remaining unfilled from All India Quota shall be filled from eligible UT
Chandigarh Pool General Candidates.
18. Any seat(s) reserved for Schedule Castes candidates remaining unfilled from
Institutional Preference Pool (IP) or UT Chandigarh Pool on account of non-
availability of eligible candidates shall be filled from eligible General candidates of
respective pool as per reservation policy of Chandigarh Administration applicable to
Medical institutions in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, notified vide letter No.
19/1/3/93/IH(3)/11138, Dated: 07.06.1995.
19. Any seat remaining vacant from Institutional Preference Pool shall be filled from
eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Candidates.
PG-7: Procedure to fill Leftover Seats, If Any
1. If seat(s) remain unfilled after second counseling for State Quota candidates
(Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool) for any reason whatsoever,
applications will be invited from candidates not belonging to Institutional Preference
Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool.
2. Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool candidates, who are already in the
original list of eligible State Quota candidates, need not apply afresh. They will
continue to remain eligible for participation in the counseling for these leftover seats
(preference).
3. Provisional number of leftover seats available, their discipline and category-wise
distribution i.e. whether Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool Category,
General or Scheduled Castes will be notified on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in.
before the counseling for leftover seats if any.
PG-8: Procedure for applying for leftover seats
1. Candidates have to fill online application form, designed for such candidates. It will
be available on GMCH Website www.gmch.gov.in after 2nd counseling for UT
Chandigarh Pool candidates from 26.04.2019.

2. Last date of submitting completed application form online is 01.05.2019 upto 5.00
pm.
3. Candidates can pay application fee online only.
4. Online application process will be locked after 5.00 pm on 01.05.2019. Application
received in any other form during the prescribed application submission period or
after due date and time shall not be entertained under any circumstances,
whatsoever.
5. Only those candidates who have submitted online application form alongwith
specified annexure by due date and time, will be included in the list of candidates
eligible to appear for counseling subject to fulfillment of other eligibility criteria
specified in the prospectus
6. List of eligible candidates will be displayed on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in on
04.05.2019.
PG-9: Counseling for leftover seats, if any
1. Counseling for leftover seats will be held on the date which will be notified on GMCH
website.
2. The venue for counseling will be:
Director-Principal Office, Level-II, D Block, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32-B, Chandigarh
3. Date and time of counseling shall be put on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in. No
separate counseling letter will be issued.

viii. Reserved category (SC) certificate if applicable.
ix. Character and conduct certificate from the institution last attended.
x. No Objection Certificate (NOC) if applicable.
7. Eligible Institutional Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool candidates will have first
right on all available seats.
8. Any seat previously reserved for SC candidate and filled by SC candidate falling
vacant due to any reason whatsoever will be offered to SC candidates from the pool
to which it originally belonged.
9. Any seat(s) reserved for Schedule Castes candidates remaining unfilled from
Institutional Preference Pool (IP) or UT Chandigarh Pool on account of non-

availability of eligible candidates shall be filled from eligible General candidates of
respective category as per reservation policy of Chandigarh Administration
applicable to Medical institutions in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, notified vide
letter No. 19/1/3/93/IH(3)/11138, Dated: 07.06.1995.
10. Any seat remaining vacant from Institutional Preference Pool shall be filled from
eligible UT Chandigarh Pool General Candidates.
11. Only seat(s) left vacant after counseling for eligible Institutional Preference Pool/UT
Chandigarh Pool Category candidate(s), will be available to candidates belonging to
states/ UTs other than UT Chandigarh.
12. Final list of available seats and their discipline would be put up outside counseling
hall before the start of counseling for candidates not belonging to Institutional
Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool.
13. These candidates shall be admitted, as per their preference of discipline if available,
in order of their rank in the NEET-PG 2019 conducted by National Board of
Examinations (NBE) for the year 2019.
14. If an eligible candidate reports late for counseling when his/her turn according to
his/her rank has already been passed over, he/she will be considered as per
available seat/discipline at the time of his/her actual reporting in the counseling.
15. All selected candidates have to undergo medical examination on the day of
counseling. If found medically fit, they have to join on the day of counseling itself
failing which offer of admission is liable to be withdrawn and seat so vacated will be
offered to the next eligible candidate.
16. All other relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable on
these candidates.
17. If any seat(s) is left vacant after counseling on 24.04.2019 number of available seats
and their discipline will be notified on GMCH website www.gmch.gov.in. on evening
of 24.04.2019.
18. Candidates who have been included in the list of eligible candidates i.e. Institutional
Preference Pool/UT Chandigarh Pool and candidates not belonging to these pools,
displayed on GMCH website on 02.04.2019 and 04.05.2019 respectively and
desirous of obtaining admission against these vacant seats should reach office of
Director-Principal by 10.00 am on 08.05.2019. All such candidates shall be
considered together and offered admission against available seats/discipline
according to his/her rank in NEET PG- 2019.

19. Candidate(s), who have not submitted online application form by due dates or who
haven’t been included in the list of eligible candidates displayed on 02.04.19 and
04.05.2019 will not be considered for admission against these seat(s) under any
circumstances.
20. Candidates selected have to undergo medical examination on the same day. If found
medically fit, they have to join the institute, failing which offer of admission is liable to
be withdrawn.
21. All other relevant clauses mentioned in this prospectus will also be applicable on
these candidates.
22. Admission process for all categories and pools will be completed by the closing time
of office hours on 08.05.2019.
PG-10: General Conditions Applicable on All Selected Candidates
Following general conditions will be applicable on all candidates whether selected
against All India Quota seats or UT Chandigarh Pool seats or leftover seats filled by
Other than UT Chandigarh Pool candidates:
1. The selected candidates will have to undergo medical examination by the constituted
Medical Board at the time of their admission to the course. Candidates found
medically fit shall be granted admission.
2. The candidates who do not appear before the medical board or are found medically
unfit shall not be allowed to join the course.
3. The original certificates of the selected candidates will be retained by the college till
the completion of the MD/MS course.
4. The original certificates of the selected candidates shall be returned only if the seat
is surrendered in writing by the candidate before the last date of admission schedule
approved by Panjab University.
5. If any candidate(s), who joins the MD/MS course, leaves the said course within
one year, after last date of admission schedule approved by Panjab University,
penalty of Rs. 5.00 Lac will be imposed on such candidate(s) as per instructions
issued by Directorate General of Health Services (Medical Examination Cell),
Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide letter No. U.12021/22/2011-
MEC, Dated 8th September, 2011 and adopted by Chandigarh Administration vide
letter No. 1260-FII(6)-2012/6707, Dated 11th July, 2012 as applicable to Govt.
Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh. Original certificates submitted at

the time of admission will be returned only after the above said penalty amount has
been deposited.
6. In case the information furnished or certificates/documents submitted by the
candidate are found to be fake or is found to have withheld or concealed information
in the application form, his/her admission shall stand cancelled and the fee deposited
shall be forfeited. In addition he/she may also face legal action under the law of the
land.
7. The entire admission process will be closed as per schedule decided by MCI/Panjab
University as applicable and no admission will be entertained thereafter.
8. All legal disputes relating to admission of students will be subject to courts having
jurisdiction in Chandigarh.
9. Ordinarily, admissions shall be made strictly in accordance with the rules/criteria
mentioned in this prospectus. However, in all matters which need interpretation or for
which no provision exists in the prospectus, the decision of the Admission
Committee shall be final. No correspondence will be entertained regarding rejection
or disqualification of any candidate.
10. All admissions to MD/MS courses shall be provisional and subject to the approval by
Panjab University/Medical Council of India.
11. Any directions/order governing admissions to any of the course from the
Government/Hon’ble courts/Regulatory bodies will be binding on all candidates.
12. The Rules and Regulations, including fee to be charged, are subject to revision and
amendment from time to time and the revised decision(s) will be applicable
irrespective of those given in this prospectus.
13. Notwithstanding anything contained in this prospectus, the eligibility conditions for
admission shall be governed by the respective rules/regulations of the Panjab
University/MCI/Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh. In case of
any conflict or inconsistency between the prospectus on the one hand and the
aforesaid Panjab University Rules and Regulations/ Guidelines/ Hand-Book of
information/decisions of Senate/Syndicate or MCI rules/regulations or
rules/regulations of the Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32, Chandigarh on
the other, the latter shall prevail.
14. Decision of admission committee in all matters related to counseling and admission
will be final.

PG-11: Contract
1. Each Post-Graduate Junior Resident will be on contract service for a period of three
years and will be required to execute a contract bond on a non-judicial stamp paper
of Rs.10/-. Copy of language of the bond to be executed can be obtained from
website of the college. The bond, duly completed in all respects, shall be required to
be submitted at the time of joining alongwith Indemnity bond (to be obtained from
GMCH website).
PG-12: Fee
1. Tuition Fee Payable by the Junior Residents will be as follows and the other
fee/funds will be as per Panjab University subject to revision from time to time which
currently is as under:
First year : Rs.22,000 per annum.
Second year : Rs.24,500 per annum.
Third year : Rs.27,500 per annum.
2. Other fees, funds and hostel charges payable by the selected candidates shall be
separate as per orders issued by Chandigarh Administration from time to time.
3. In case of surrender of seat, the fees and other funds deposited at the time of
admission will be refunded as per instructions issued by the Department/University
as below:
a) The candidates who are admitted to the course and want to surrender the seat
prior to the last date of admission schedule approved by Panjab University, may
be refunded the entire amount of fees and funds collected at the time of
counseling after retaining Rs.1000/-(Rupees One thousand only) as
administrative/processing charges provided the vacated seats get filled up.
b) In case of a candidate who shifts to other discipline at 2nd or subsequent
counseling, the fees and other funds deposited at the time of first admission shall
stand transferred.
PG-13: Stipend
1. As per Punjab Government pattern and adopted by Chandigarh Administration vide
letter no 7000/1/50/2010-F & PO(7) applicable to Govt. Medical College & Hospital,
Sector-32, Chandigarh, under which selected candidates, called Junior Residents,
will be paid stipend equal to the minimum of the Pay Band plus Grade Pay in the Pay
scale of Rs.15600-39100+5400 Grade pay, plus the Dearness Allowance admissible
thereon from time to time. No increment or any other allowance etc. shall be

admissible to them for three years during PG course or as amended by the Govt.
from time to time.
PG-14: Duties and Responsibilities
1. Duties and responsibilities of Junior Residents shall be fixed by the Institution from
time to time. They will be required to perform such work as may be needed in the
legitimate interest of patient care in the hospital.
2. Ragging in any form is banned in educational institutions. If a student is found to
have indulged in ragging, strict action will be taken against that student, which
includes expulsion from the institution and other legal action as per law of the land.
3. Junior Residents will be required to submit all the correspondence to higher
authorities through their heads of the departments.
4. In case a junior resident wishes to appear in next PG entrance examination, he/she
will be required to seek NOC through proper channel and in case of selection,
he/she will be required to deposit Rs 5.00 lac as penalty for surrendering the seat
before joining the new course.
PG-15: Maintenance of Logbook/Assessment
1. The Post-Graduate Junior Resident registered for MD/MS courses shall be required
to maintain logbook.
2. Before appearing in the final examination, all the junior residents will be required to
submit a certificate with the registrar academics from their respective heads of the
department stating that the candidate has
i. The candidate has submitted the completed log book in the office
ii. Has published one paper and has presented one paper during the
conference
iii. His/ her work and conduct is satisfactory
iv. Has obtained at least 50 % marks in the internal assessment
PG-16: Submission of Protocol and Thesis
1. The Post-Graduate Junior Resident registered for MD/MS courses shall be
required to apply for plan of thesis protocol through their departmental Academic
Committee and submit the same to the Academic Section, GMCH, Sector-32/B,
Chandigarh by 30th September of Ist Year PG Course. There will not be any
extension in the last date of submission.

2. The last date for submission of final thesis for the students registered for MD/MS
degree will 31st October of third year of PG Course. There will not be any extension
in the last date of submission.
PG-17: Presentation/Publication of Paper
1. As per MCI, (Sub-clause “13.9) a postgraduate student of a postgraduate degree
course in broad specialities/super specialities would be required to present one
poster presentation, to read one paper at a national/state conference and to present
one research paper which should be published/accepted for publication/sent for
publication during the period of his postgraduate studies so as to make him eligible
to appear at the postgraduate degree examination.
PG-18: Leave Entitlement
1. The Postgraduate Junior Resident will be entitle to following:-
First year : 30 Days
Second year : 36 Days
Third year : 36 Days
2. In case of exigencies, Junior Residents can be denied leave.
3. These leaves cannot be carried forward.
4. Unutilized leaves cannot be en-cashed.
5. Junior Residents are not entitled to any other leave except that mentioned above.
6. Residency as well as examination of Junior Residents, who avail of the leave over
and above their entitlement, will be extended.
