Certificate Programs A formal award certifying the satisfactory completion of a postsecondary education program & is essentially the process of publicly attesting that a specified quality or standard has been achieved or exceeded (AMTA Definition).

Programs on Demand EVIT Adult Education offers short term, on demand training programs to meet business, industry and community training needs. Course offerings are based on student request and student enrollment. Students are welcome to submit their requests to the EVIT Adult Education Admissions Department 480-461-4013.

Blended Programs EVIT high school programs offer a limited number of seats for adults who want a daytime/2.5-hour schedule. Adults over the age of 22 enrolling in a high school program will need a DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card prior to starting class. Contact an enrollment adviser at 480-461-4013 for detailed information. Blended Programs do not qualify for Government Financial Aid and only offer a Certificate of Training.

Licensure A non-voluntary process by which an agency of government regulates a profession. It grants permission to an individual to engage in an occupation if it finds that the applicant has attained the degree of competency required to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare will be reasonably protected.

Licensure Disclaimer EVIT Adult Education courses and programs prepare students for entry into a variety of professions. Many of these professions require that a person hold an occupational license or certificate in order to work in a particular field. Typically, a person must meet certain legal requirements before obtaining such a license or certificate. These requirements are established by county, state or federal agencies and often are based on a person’s character, or whether the person has been convicted of a criminal offense. It is possible for a student who has obtained a certificate from EVIT to be denied the right to work in a particular profession after completing the certificate because of concerns over the student’s character or criminal background. Any student preparing to enter a field for which a professional license or certificate is required is strongly advised to consult with the appropriate government agency that issues such credentials. That agency can provide the student complete information about any requirements the law imposes for working in a particular occupation.

AESTHETICS

CS14C Specialize in the science of skin care and develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of the industry basics including waxing, makeup techniques, facials and general knowledge of the spa industry. Learn techniques for skin analysis, deep pore cleansing, exfoliation and specialized treatments including dermaplaning, peels and body treatments. COLLISION REPAIR AB10C Includes fundamental hands on training in collision repair shop operations, materials handling and safety practices. Students will be introduced to basic operations in many areas of the collision repair industry with a focus on entry-level position skills. COSMETOLOGY CS10C

If you crave a career with flexible schedules, the opportunity to be creative, and the ability to control your income limits, then invest in an exciting and rewarding career in Cosmetology. Job growth in cosmetology is expected to rise at a rate of 13% between 2012 and 2022 (BLS, 2015). Cosmetology students learn the foundation of haircutting, color, texture, hairstyling, skin care and nail care. Students will progress to advanced techniques that are relevant while learning in both a classroom setting and in the student salon. MC51C Sterilization technicians are allied health professionals responsible for decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments and surgical supply. Sterile processing technicians work under close supervision of the operating room team in providing fully functional, sterilized and ready-to-use surgical equipment. They work closely with any other department in the health-care facility where there is a need for sterilized items that are used on a patient. WELDING WD10C One of Arizona’s three International Accredited Test Facility that offers welding certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS) on site. Students will learn basic skills in the SMAW, GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG) and OFC processes. During this course students will weld in all positions and practice for AWS certifications. EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN MC55 MC56 People’s lives often depend on the quick reponse and competent care of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s). Learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of illness and injury, assess and treat patients, administer oxgen and provide basic medical care. Training consists of coursework and hands-on experince designed to prepare students to administer immediate care, stabilizing and immobilization of victims in emergency situations. During the second semester, students will have an opportunity to complete 10 to 20 hours of clinical externship hours in an emergency room. Weekend and/or extended hours will be required for clinical. Students must provide their own transportation to the clinical site. Please note: Student must be 18 years old by November 1 following course completion and a U.S. Citizen or legal resident to take certification exam. NURSING ASSISTANT MC30 MC31 A Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of a nurse to provide daily basic care for patients in hospitals, physician’s offices, private homes, clinics and assisted living facilities. First semester, learn CPR, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, vital signs, hygiene, human reproduction, basic nutrition and patient care. During the second semester, students work in clinical settings to master the skills required for the state certification exam. (Length of Course 2-4 Semesters)




OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AID MC57 MC58 Occupational therapists help people with physical or mental disabilities gain the skills they need to be as independent as possible. In this class you will explore the dynamic history and philosophy of occupational therapy, understand the difference between and occupational therapist, occupational therapy assistance and occupational therapy Aide. Students will experience hands on learning of job skills needed to gain employment as an occupational therapy aide, rehabilitation provider. Qualified students will participate in clinical experiences to gain valuable on the job experiences. Students must provide their own transportation to clinical experiences. (Length of Course 2-4 Semesters)





PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

MC43 MC63 Pharmacy technicians help licensed pharmacists prepare prescription medications, provide customer service and perform administrative duties. The first semester concentrates on basic health care concepts such as medical terminology, safety, customer service, problem solving and CPR. Students learn occupation specific skills during the second semester. This rigorous academic course requires a high level of independent study while learning procedures for receiving prescription requests, counting tablets and labeling bottles, along with administrative functions such as answering phones, and stocking shelves. Student must be 18 years of age to job shadow in a pharmacy. Job shadowing requires reliable transportation and is the sole responsibility of the student. Students may be randomly drug tested. EVIT’s Pharmacy Technician Program prepares students upon completion of the program to be eligible to sit for the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam. Students completing our Pharmacy Technician Program and hold a high school diploma or GED are prepared to obtain the AZ Board of Pharmacy Technician training license. PHYSICAL THERAPY TECHNICIAN MC45 Physical therapist technicians and chiropractic assistants help doctors in the treatment and diagnosis of people with medical conditions and functionally-limiting injuries. This is a rigorous academic course that requires a high level of independent study. Qualified students will participate in job shadowing and/or internships in physical therapy offices or clinics. Shadowing and/or interning require reliable transportation at the sole responsibility of the student. Flexible hours may be required depending upon the availability of clinical sites. Student may be randomly drug tested. (Length of Course 2-4 Semesters)




RADIO/AUDIO PRODUCTION

RB10 RB20 RB30 EVIT’s Radio/Audio Production programs is home to KVIT, 88.7 FM the Pulse, a fully functioning non-commercial radio station, run by students. KVIT features long and short form student-produced programming and commercial-free music. The students also work on the stations website, develop apps, apply social media and assist with market research. The radio station is the center of the Radio/Audio Production program. Depending on their interest, students learn audio production, on-air performance, programming, copy writing, promotions and marketing, broadcast engineering, interview techniques and much more as the run KVIT. Students now have the option to focus on sports broadcasting. EVIT’s 88.7, The Pulse is an official radio station broadcaster of AIA high school sports. (Length of Course 2-4 Semesters)





VETERINARY ASSISTANT MC14 MC44 MC64 Prepare for a career in the veterinary field while learning the skills that will allow you to work with all creatures, large and small. Integrate your love for animals with medical knowledge such as taking radiographs, venipuncture, administering medications and vaccines, animal restraint, surgical preparation and surgical assisting, animal dentistry, laboratory procedures and general exams. During the first 3 semesters students focus on anatomy and physiology of human and animal species, hands-on skills and practical applications. During the fourth semester students improve upon their skills through job shadowing and/or internships at local shelters, small and large animal practices and wildlife facilities. Students will be exposed to a variety of well and sick animals. Students must provide own transportation to job shadowing and/or internship site. Flexible hours may be required depending upon clinical availability. Students may be randomly drug tested. VIDEO PRODUCTIONS TV10 TV20 TV30 Show off your creativity and explore the exciting process of video production in one of the largest green screen and production studios in Arizona. Learn all aspects of visual media productions including film-making, event production, news, corporate event production, commercials, public service announcements (PSAs), and documentaries while using high-definition cameras. Students are also trained in animation, interactive video and web video production. Work with clients to produce various projects in a fully-equipped studio and audio bay while developing skills in editing, lighting, audio production and music creation. (Length of Course 2-4 Semesters)
