Welcome to Privlaka – a small peninsula entrenched in the sands
of northern Dalmatia and joined on its eastern side to the royal
city of Nin. It is located near the ancient city of Zadar, with
whom it has shared most of its history and culture. The
Privlaka region enjoys pleasant warm sunshine and sunny days. In
an alienated world, this could be the place where you can find
inner peace. Privlaka will embrace you in the arms of Dalmatia.
Willkommen in Privlaka – auf der kleinen Halbinsel, umgeben vom
Sand Norddalmatiens, die sich auf ihrer Ostseite an die Königsstadt
Nin anschließt. Privlaka steht unter dem Schutz der tausendjährigen
Stadt Zadar, mit der sie die
Geschichte und Kultur teilt. Die Region um Privlaka erfreut sich
der Wärme der Sonnenstrahlen und der Schönheit sonniger Tage. In
einer Welt der Entfremdung kann dieser Ort dem Menschen helfen,
seinen inneren Frieden zu finden. Privlaka wird sie umarmen und –
in die Arme Dalmatiens schließen.

Privlaka se prvi put spominje u 13. stoljeæu. Bogata arheološkim
nalazima iz nama teško zamislivih 20 000 godina prije Krista donosi
prošlost. O
posveæenosti kršæanstvu svjedoèi niz crkava - Sv. Barbara iz 13.
stoljeæa i Sv. Kata iz 14. stoljeæa. Crkva Svetog Vida, pak, donosi
sveèanost svake godine u lipnju. No središnja je župna crkva
Roðenja Blažene Djevice Marije iz 19. stoljeæa koja se ubraja u
najljepše primjere izvorne klasicistièke arhitekture u
Dalmaciji.
Privlaka was mentioned for the first time in the 13th century.
The rich archaeological findings dating back to an unimaginable 20
000 years B.C.,
evoke its ancient past. Numerous churches, such as Church of St.
Barbara, which dates from the 13th century, and the Church of St.
Catherine from the 14th century, testify to the region's commitment
to Christianity. Every year in June, a ceremony is held at the
Church of St. Vitus. However, the main parish church is the Church
of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, dating from the 19th
century, which is considered one of the finest examples of
authentic Classicism in architecture in Dalmatia.
Die erste Erwähnung der Ortschaft Privlaka findet sich im
13.
Jahrhundert. Ihr Reichtum an archäologischen Funden aus der
uns
schwer vorstellbaren Zeit von 20 000 Jahren vor Christus ist
geschichtsträchtig.
Von der Zugehörigkeit zum Christentum zeugt eine Reihe von
Kirchen – die
Kirche der Hl. Barbara aus dem 13. Jahrhundert und der Hl.
Katharina aus dem
14. Jahrhundert. Die St.-Veit-Kirche wiederum begeht jedes Jahr
im Juni den
St.-Veitstag. Doch die zentrale Kirche ist die Pfarrkirche der
Geburt der
Seligen Jungfrau Maria aus dem 19. Jahrhundert, die zu den
schönsten
Beispielen der ursprünglichen klassizistischen Architektur in
Dalmatien zählt.

Ništa, meðutim, nije tako upeèatljivo kao njezinih dvanaest
bunara rasijanih po cijelom poluotoku. Najpoznatiji meðu
tajnovitim dubinama iz kojih se crpio život jest Sokolar pokraj
crkvice Sv. Vida. Za njega se veže legenda o nesretnoj ljubavi, a
spomenut je u prvom hrvatskom romanu.
However, nothing is as impressive as its twelve wells dispersed
throughout the entire peninsula. The most famous one for its depths
from which life
was drawn is Sokolar near the Church of St. Vitus. There is a
legend connected to this well, a legend about an unhappy love.
Sokolar was first mentioned in the first Croatian novel.
Allerdings ist nichts dermaßen auffällig wie die zwölf Brunnen,
die sich
über die gesamte Halbinsel verteilt befinden. Der bekannteste
von den
geheimnisvollen Tiefen aus denen Leben geschöpft wurde ist der
Sokolar, der
sich neben der Kirche des Hl. Vid befindet. An ihn ist eine
Legende gebunden
und er wird ebenso im ersten kroatischen Roman erwähnt.

Izgovoriti rijeè „sabunjar“ znaèi prizvati u sjeæanje èovjeka
kojemu se niz znojna, izmuèena pleæa iz punog „škipa“ cijedi mokri
sabun, kako bi rukopisom mora ostavio neizbrisiv, a opet nevidljiv
trag godina. Privlaka je najpoznatija po njima, ljudima koji
su mukotrpnim vaðenjem pijeska iz mora postali nadaleko
poznati.
To pronounce the word “sabunjar“ means to think of a man from
whose tortured and sweaty back leaks wet sand through a
full “škipa“ (a pot which “sabunjari“ carried on their back in
order to transport the sand). In this way using the manuscript of
the sea “sabunjari“ left an indelible, but at the same time an
invisible trace of years. Privlaka is famous for them, for the
people who became widely famous thanks to extracting the sand from
the sea.
Das Wort Sabunjar auszusprechen bedeutet sich einen Menschen in
Erinnerung rufen, dem nasser Sand seinen
verschwitzten und erschöpften Rücken hinunterläuft aus dem
vollen Holzgefäß (dem sog. Škipa), in dem Sand transportiert wurde,
um mit der Handschrift des Meeres eine unauslöschliche aber
trotzdem unsichtbare Spur der Jahre zu hinterlassen. Privlaka ist
am bekanntesten für sie, diese Menschen, die mit der anstrengenden
Arbeit der Sandschöpfung aus dem Meer überall bekannt wurden.
