Vision Leesville Elementary… Creating a school community, where our capabilities are limitless. Continued Appreciation for a Great Business Partnership There are many organizations who enjoy teaming up with Leesville Elementary School and we appreciate each and every one. This week’s Business Partner Shout Out is sent on to PF Changs down at the Crabrtree Valley Mall. It is not just the support of this wonderful restaurant that we appreciate, but the manner in which they think of and treat our school community. They have made it very clear to us all that if someone has risen above the expectations, they ought to be treated to an amazing meal at this incredible restaurant. Likewise, if a member of the school community is finding a challenge in working on and dealing with something in particular, they are treated to the same pampered treat of a wonderful meal out. So if you are looking for an amazing meal and would like tihe added bonus of supporting local business that is one of our greatest supporters, I encourage you to head over to PF Changs. Bon Appetit!

Continued Appreciation for a Great Business Partnership

There are many organizations who enjoy teaming up with Leesville Elementary School and we appreciate each and every one. This week’s Business Partner Shout Out is sent on to PF Changs down at the Crabrtree Valley Mall. It is not just the support of this wonderful restaurant that we appreciate, but the manner in which they think of and treat our school community. Our Students Know How to Stand Up For A Good Cause This past week has been so much fun as we made Leesville Elementary School an environment that knows how to stand up for a great cause. Each day this past week, we were dressed to show that we support a Drug Free Community. On Monday, we wore Red from head to toe to show that we are “RED-y to stand up against drugs.” On Tuesday, we all “Put a Cap on Drugs” by wearing a cap or silly hat. Thursday, we all wore our favorite team jerseys to show that we are “Teaming Up Against Drugs”, and then, on Friday, we were all mix-matched to represent that we refuse to get “Mixed-Up with Drugs.” We also had a student in our 5th grade class to show us all that she takes anti-bullying to another level. In order for her to earn her Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, one of our students arranged for a demonstration with the master instructors from her TKD Dojo. They taught a group of students how to avoid trouble, how to show that there is no interest in fighting, and how to do some very cool TKD moves. Finally, our Kindergarten students got a jump on the opportunity to dress as their favorite book character last week. They were amazing looking and really found ways to creatively represent their characters. This was a neat sampling for us for this Thursday when we invite the school community to dress in their literary costumes as well during the day and then again that night at the Annual Literacy Celebration Event at 6:00 to 7:30 pm on that night.

Leesville Elementary School Literacy Celebration Night… with a Twist This Thursday Evening, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Leesville Elementary School will host our annual Leesville Literacy Celebration Evening Event. Last year, this was one of the most enjoyable and well-attended events, and this year promises to bring back many of the qualities that we all enjoyed last year as well as some new opportunities to make the enjoyment of the event even greater. Like last year, we are encouraging all of the students to come to school on Thursday dressed as their favorite book character and to continue to have them on during the event that evening. I will be judging the costumes for their originality and creativity, which means that the store bought costumes will likely be out of the running. I am looking forward to seeing how our students’ creative juices will flow this year. To further win a prize for the evening, we will have a set of books for each grade level to guess the pages, just like last year. This time, however, we have a challenge for the parents to win as well. Also like last year, we will have great activities and opportunities for the students in the different classrooms. Last year, the students got their stamp for each activity and this year, participants will earn a homework pass from their teachers again. I was amazed by the amount of stations so many of the students visited. Unlike last year, Thursday night will be around the end of our Food Drive Wars, where students will really have the chance to contribute to those families in the community who will benefit from having food items sent home. This is a great opportunity for the students to support one another, so I hope that you will all bring plenty of canned and non-perishable foods for those in need. The event will be great, so come on out and join us for the Leesville Literacy Celebration Evening Event, this Thursday, November 6.
