PRINCIPAL’S COMMENTS
12th June 2015 ISSUE 9
Don’t forget our SunSmart Policy. Hats to be worn during
Terms 1 and 4.
Each week we find several pieces
of lost school uniform that has
been handed in. Most items of
clothing do NOT have the
student’s names written on them,
making it almost impossible to
return to the rightful owner.
Please make sure each jumper,
hat, etc has your child’s name so
we can return it to your child. If
we have clothing that has been
unclaimed for a while, we recycle
it, selling it to parents for a gold
coin donation.
Also, if there are parents who
have old uniforms in good
condition we would appreciate it
if you would donate it to school
so we can supply those children
who do not have uniforms.
Thank you for your support !
For students in Grades 2 to 6,
one of the most helpful skill to
learn and master is knowing the
TIMES TABLES. To help this
skill, practise counting by 2s, 3s,
4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, 11s, and
12s. Discuss any patterns that
you discover or know about. Are
there any tricks or patterns to
assist in the learning?
Are the answers all odd or even
numbers? Get your child to write
the times tables down, starting
with the ones they know and
moving gradually to the more
difficult times tables. When they
do write each timetable down, get
them to write each one
completely before moving to the
next. Eg. 4 x 6 = 24. Play quizzes
and where possible make their
learning fun. Have them race
against their own time to write a
set of times table down. (eg.
Writing the 5 times tables down
from 0 x 5 = 0 to 12 x 5 = 60)
Mathletics has a few games to
play, so get your child involved !
Even sing the songs associated
with each times table.
Anything… that helps them to
learn their tables.
Mastering times
tables will help your
child tackle so many
different
mathematical
problems in the
future. Have Fun !!
School photos arrived this week
and were sent home by
Wednesday. Please check that
you received what you ordered,
and feel free to contact MSP
Photography.
I would be interested to get some
feedback about the SchoolMate
App that we informed parents
about in the last newsletter. If
you have downloaded the app
and had a look at it, please give
feedback via the text messaging
service that we contact you on
from time to time. I will send out
a text message seeking your
feedback. Respond using only
one word, either ‘Good,’
‘Interesting,’ ‘Confusing,’
or ‘Poor.’
Thank you !
