TERM 4 – WEEK 10 – 2019PRINCIPAL’S REPORTAs this is the final newsletter of 2019, I would like to take the opportunity to thank our school community for all the support throughout the year. Our amazing students have had incredible learning opportunities inclusive of Star Struck, sport gala days and academic experiences. All of this has been made possible due to our dedicated teachers and involved community. Our kids are very lucky to have so many people involved and supportive of their primary education.
2019 Year 6Congratulations to our wonderful Year 6 students who have completed their final year of primary school. Many of these students have been at Wangi since Kindergarten, so this week marks an end of an era, as a new world of opportunities begins. I know every one of our Year 6 students are ready for high school and will continue to represent WWPS proudly.
Presentation DayLast Wednesday we held our annual school Presentation Day. I would like to thank all the parents who attended this special event and celebrated the successes of our students. The rock band and our Dance2Bfit groups performed beautifully and should be proud of their achievements.
Leadership Team I would like to congratulate Aston, Brock, Lucy and Michael who have been elected by their peers to be our school leadership team for 2020. I would also like to thank Ben, Jaidyn, Kiara and Zali for their outstanding leadership throughout 2019.
All four leaders have been excellent role models to younger students.
Beginning of 2020The first day back for students in 2020 is Wednesday 29th January. At the beginning of next year, students will remain in their 2019 classes for a few days, until our student numbers are confirmed. This is due to fluctuating enrolment data and the potential for an additional class. All students will commence important learning and assessments immediately. In most instances, students will be placed with their 2019 teacher so that learning continuity is assured. We will advise parents as soon as we can of finalised classes.
2019 KindergartenJust like that, Kindergarten is over for our 2019 Kindergarten students. I would like to congratulate every student in our Kindergarten class on an amazing year of growth and learning. I would also like to thank all of our Kindergarten parents, many of whom have experienced their first year, like me, as a parent of a Kindergarten child. All of a sudden going to school 5 days a week becomes a natural part of their little lives, as their independence grows. As a parent, you can now admire all the tasks they can do independently and enjoy some time together in the holidays resting, getting ready for Year 1.
Building WorksDuring the holiday break, you will notice significant changes to our buildings. The site will remain active throughout the holiday period with
many additional workers on site to utilise the time students are not at school. This will allow for many more tasks to be completed simultaneously, hopefully making for quicker progress. Thank you to everyone throughout 2019 for your understanding and flexibility during the building works. As the structures get bigger, our excitement is growing and we can all see how amazing our new school buildings will be.Dates for 2020School returns Wed 29th JanSwimming carnival Tues 4th FebI wish everyone a happy and safe holi-day break.Tim Lewis
