We will miss you Mr Davis After 18 months of wonderful guidance, selfless commitment
and terrible jokes, it is with heavy hearts we bid farewell to Mr
Davis this week. I know the staff will join me in saying that it has
been an honour to work with someone who put the welfare
and success of others before their own.
Mr Davis has worked tirelessly to ensure the future prosperity of
the Bilambil Public School community and for that we are
eternally grateful. His calm and reassuring presence has been
the cornerstone of his tenure especially during recent events
when anxious minds were put to ease with a few measured
words.
Mr Davis, you will be missed by all who have had the pleasure
to know you. Thank you for everything you accomplished
during your time at Bilambil. We wish you all the very best for
your return to the lucky people at Crystal Creek Public School.
In the wise words of Dr Seuss, “Don’t be sad because it’s over.
Smile because it happened.” Thank you Mr Davis.

appreciated if you could please remind your children to check

If you are missing items, There is a mountain of clothing there at
the moment. Labelled items are easily returned, but there are
many unlabelled jumpers, hats etc. If we cannot find owners by

Miss Henry is on Maternity Leave
Well it’s sadly that time of term where I have to say my
goodbyes. I wanted to take this opportunity to thank my
beautiful class.
These 20 clever and kind students have been so wonderful to
me in the short time we’ve had. From helping me pick up a
dropped pen to carrying their own books back to the trays they
have shown me their caring nature and I’ll really miss them! To
the wonderful parents and carers of KH, thank you. Your kind
words and support have meant the world to me!
To the wonderful Bilambil crew, where do I start? You are
amazing! From covering duties, to offering support I can’t thank
my colleagues enough for their support during my pregnancy.
Bilambil is a special place!
Miss Kidd is one lucky teacher to have KH for Semester Two. I
know the students will love having you! Enjoy!
I’m now about to enter a new phase of my life. Being a teacher
clearly means I love kids! So to have my own is very exciting!
Thank you everyone, all the best for Semester Two! Stay safe,
have a wonderful holiday and best wishes.
Miss Henry.

5/6E STUDENTS ARE LOVING BEING BACK IN THE
CLASSROOM AND HAVE REALLY ENJOYED DOING
SOME HARD WORK It has been fantastic to have all of our wonderful 5/6E students back
in the classroom after learning at home for so long. Everyone has
settled back in so quickly ready for work which has been great to
see.
We have been really working on our team work, critical thinking and
communication skills during the term with several ongoing group
projects coming to an end this week. There are many benefits to
purposeful group projects some of which include:
• Development of organisational skills through planning and time
management as complex tasks are broken into parts and steps
• Consolidating understanding through discussion and explanation
• Improved ability to give and receive feedback on performance
• Developing leadership skills as roles and responsibilities delegated.
• Sharing diverse perspectives and share knowledge and skills.
• Holding one another (and be held) accountable.
• Receiving social support and encouragement to take risks.
• Developing new approaches to resolving differences.
• Establishing a shared identity with other group members.
Well done 5/6E on all your hard work and being open to and positive
about the challenges working with a group of your peers brings!! I
have never been more proud watching you deliver your Indigenous
history lessons to the class and I am looking forward to seeing your
interaction with 1/2B on Thursday when you share your cardboard
arcade games with them.

Day at Bilambil PS Friday, 3rd July 2020
We want to say thank you to all the students for their commitment to their learning during isolation and for being absolutely awesome!
We are planning a marvellous movie day to end the term. We will show the movies in the hall in stage sessions and provide a snack and drink to enjoy during the movie.
As it is WINTER, keep warm and dress up in your warmest clothes, with gloves, beanies, scarves and comfy enclosed shoes.
Also, you can bring a pillow or floor cushion to sit on.

BIRTHDAY TREAT GREAT FOR PARENTS TOO! Our new birthday cupcakes are selling like
hotcakes! We’re all about making lives as easy as
possible for our families (we’re parents too, we get
it!) so Danelle and her dynamic canteen volunteers
came up with the idea of saving you the stress of
cooking cupcakes for your child to take in to share
with their class. All you need to do is tell us your
child’s favourite colours and interest and the
canteen team will prepare cupcakes for their whole
class! A cupcake party is $1 per cupcake or you
might prefer an ice block party or pizza party (prices
vary depending on platter).
We do need a couple of days notice but you can
call up the canteen via the school office, send us a
message on Facebook, or just get your child to drop
an order in the lunch order baskets in their
classroom a few days before. Remember to include
your name and phone number in case we have
any questions. With current restrictions it can be
hard to help your child celebrate at school so if you
have any requests on how we can help you make
your child’s day extra special we’re open to
suggestions! Let us know what you want and we’ll see what we can do.
SCHOOL BANKING UPDATE We’re hopeful of being able to resume our school banking program with the Commonwealth
Bank next term but are still waiting for confirmation. Don’t forget to keep saving your money
anyway, in your moneybox or at your bank. Every little bit is a step closer to your goal. It all adds
up.
CENTS-IBLE SAVINGS Have you been gathering up all the stray 5c pieces lying around home or on the floor of the car?
Our 5c Challenge is underway. Each class has a bucket where 5c coins can be donated. We’ll
be keeping the competition running until the end of Week 3 next term so keep your eyes peeled
for the tiny silvers when you’re out and about over the holidays. The class that collects the most
coins wins a party feast from our canteen. Money raised will help us establish a community
garden for our Green Thumbs students to enjoy.
THANK YOU MR DAVIS The P&C would like to express our appreciation for the support Mr Davis has given to us, and to
our school, during his time as Relieving Principal. He has guided us, and our teachers, through this
crazy Covid-19 period with his open approach, uplifting messages and genuine affection for our
school. Farewell Mr Davis and thank you!
NEXT MEETING Bilambil Public School P&C meets on the Monday afternoon of Week 3 and 8 each term. If you’d
like to come along and join us, we’ll be having our next meeting in the school staff room at
3.15pm on Monday, August 3. All welcome!
