To cut down on some of these calls, we are asking you to discuss after-school plans with your child before they come to school in the morning. It is also helpful to write a reminder note and place it in your child’s backpack. We know and understand that some messages are unavoidable. We appreciate your help. Congratulations Sarah Weeks, Rotary Teacher of the Month Sarah Weeks was selected by our staff to be the Rotary Teacher of the Month for May. It was particularly special since we attended on Teacher Appreciation Day! She gave a speech about being a teacher, and the experiences and opportunities she provides for our children. Thank you to Rotary for honoring our Ft. Collins area teachers! Lopez PTA Carnival – Thank you PTA The carnival was a blast and we are thankful to our event coordinator, Carl Carrillo, and his entourage of loyal PTA members and volunteers for providing the opportunity for the Lopez community to synergize and sharpen our saws! Parent support is greatly appreciated. Staff Appreciation Luncheon – Thank You Lopez PTA! We also wanted to thank our generous PTA for providing our staff appreciation luncheon today. Devin Dinenno and company provided a delicious and festive Cinco de Mayo luncheon while the staff synergized and celebrated together. This is one of our most appreciated traditions! Leaders Understand and Lend a Hand – Project Results Monday, May 8, Student Ambassadors will take a field trip to Homeless Gear as representatives of our school to donate the collections. Lopez Leaders truly can make a difference in the world by lending a hand to those in need Coins for Change Penny War earned $2,282.30! We earned $2,282.30, generously surpassing our $800 goal. Week of April 24 th – Hygiene Item Collection. Our kindergartners enjoyed an extra recess for collecting the most items. Week of May 1 st - Socks, Mittens and Camping Gear Collection PSD Track Meet Info from Mrs. Laturnus – PSD Track Meet Mrs. Laturnus has given informational letters to students who have qualified to compete in the Track events: May 10 PSD Track Meet 800 Meter Run for 4 th graders 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.; 1600 Meter Run for 5 th graders 6:15 – 7:00 p.m. at RMHS French Field May 13 (Sat,) PSD Track Meet Grade-Level Events for 5 th graders 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.; 4 th graders 10:00 – 12:00 p.m. (Rain dates are May 15 & May 2 4 th Grade Eco Week Meeting for Parents Only - May 10 5:30-6:30 Please join us for this important meeting. We will be going over important information about the 5 th grade ECO Week outdoor education class scheduled for September 11-13, 2017. We will be discussing the class schedule, accommodations, required paper work, and the cost. We do not hold a separate meeting in the fall. We hope to see you all there! 5 th Graders Golf Free Accompanied by Adult Playing Partner This summer 5th graders can golf for free at all three City of Fort Collins Golf Courses. Collindale, Southridge and City Park Nine will offer free green fees to all current 5th graders. Children currently enrolled as 5th graders (2016/2017 school year) qualify for the offer. The offer was created to help increase exposure to the game of golf while increasing golf rounds played by children. The offer will be active from June 1 to August 31. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult golf partner who is actively playing a round of golf with the child. The City felt it was important to require an “adult playing partner” so adults can mentor and teach children about the game while sharing valuable time with them on the course. We will celebrate all of the habits by highlighting the service projects each grade level participated in. One of our leadership goals this year was for 100% of students to participate in service. This event will showcase all of the projects our students led to support our school and the Ft. Collins community. Dr. Traci Gile Upcoming Schedule: May 8 (Mon.)
