HARSHITA WINS MARATHON (28-5-2016) Harshita, a class IX student of The Divine International School, Solan, made the school proud by bagging the first position in cherish the Womanhood marathon, as many as 5,000 students from various schools and colleges of Parwanoo participated in the Marathon, Chairman Rakesh Bhandari and Principal Daljeet Rana applauded the students’ effort. ‘We bring out the best in students’ --------------------------- “A healthy teacher- Pupil relationship is very important. It helps students share their problems with teachers without hesitation. --------------------------- What is unique about your school? We treat all students equally. Special emphasis is given to co-curricular activities to hone the skills of students. We give students a platform to show-case their creativity. What changes would you suggest to the curriculum? The school curriculum must be designed in such a manner that it focuses on theoretical knowledge and at the same time teach moral and ethical values to students. It should be psychological sound. Wealth and guide them to the right path. How do you encourage teacher-students interaction? A healthy teacher-student relationship is very important. This alone can motivate students to work towards academic excellence. Students share their problems with teachers without hesitation. We hold motivational lectures to encourage maximum interaction between the two stakeholders. Students are heard and understood as this helps boost scholastic achievement. What are the issues regarding value system that kids face? Excess use of television, cellphones, internet and gaming has diverted the attention of students from studies. RANGOLI COMPETITION (3 JUNE 2016) Young Artists: The school organized a Rangoli Competition on its premises. Students of all four houses participated in the event and showcased their creativity with different colours. Sapphire and Opal houses shared the first prize, Emerald house was declared second, while Amber house bagged the third position. TRIP ORGANIZED TO RENUKA LAKE (13 JUNE, 2016) The school organized a trip for hostel students. They were taken to Renuka Lake in Sirmour district. Students and teacher enjoyed the serene beauty of the lake. They also visited all temples in the area. Teachers made them aware of the history of the lake. AWARENESS PROGRAMME OF VARIOUS DISEASES (9 JUNE, 2016) The school organized a campaign to make students aware of various diseases prevalent in the society. Mahesh, who is working with a non- governmental organization (NGO), care and Promise Welfare Society, New Delhi, was the programme officer. He talked about various diseases such hepatitis, Aids and cancer and encouraged students to eat plenty of fruits to keep diseases at bay. Later, school principal Daljeet Singh Rana, along with the science teachers, Malkeet kaur and Sapna Sharma, gave a vote of thanks to the programme officer. RAKHI COMPETITION (29 AUGUST 2016) The school organized a Rakhi-Making competition to gave the students a platform to enhance their creativity. Students from classes I to X participated in the competition, which was held under the supervision of activity in-charge Babita,. Principal Daljeet Singh Rana appreciated the student’s effort. JANMASHTAMI (5-9-2016) Janmashtami was celebrated on the school premises with great enthusiasm. The students participated in cultural programme. Kindergarten and class I students came dressed as Radha and Krishna. The students performed a group dance on Krishna song. The main attraction was a group dance by the boys of class IX. Chairman Rakesh Bhandari, Vice-Chairman Renu Bhandari and Principal Daljeet Singh Rana appreciated the efforts of the students. INVESTITURE CEREMONY (20-9-2016) The school celebrated investiture ceremony. The selected students were honored with titles and trophies. Hritik and Varsha from class X were declared as the Head boy and Head girl, respectively. Akash Kashyap and Sanjana from Amber House, Sumit and Tanisha from Emerald House, Bhupesh and Harshita from Opal House, Saloni and Akash Attri from Sapphire house were announced as house captains and Vice-Captains. School Chairman Rakesh Bhandari, Vice Chairman Renu Bhandari and Principal Daljeet Singh Rana appreciated the efforts of students. “Winners don’t do different things, they do the things differently” KASAULI TRIP The Divine International School (Residential) Parwanoo organized a one day trip of its hostlers at Kasauli, a place of historical interest .Student’s reached there early in the morning. The weather was pleasant. A huge crowd was there including many foreigners. They visited so many places of historical interest like Monkey Point, Christ Church, Sunset Point, Upper Mall, Lower Mall, Tibetian Market , Air Force Station and at last Baba Balak Nath Temple. Students enjoyed a lot. School Chairman Mr. Rakesh Bhandari, VC. Mrs. Renu Bhandari , Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana ,Incharge Mrs. Ranjana Rana and Hostel Teachers also accompanied them. It was a memorable trip.

exhilarating and inspiring festival is

celebrated in DIS school campus.

Students presented Ram Leela which

was the main centre of attraction.

Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana told

the Students about the importance of

dussehra. At last Chairman Mr. Rakesh

Bhandari, VC Mrs. Renu Bhandari,

Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana,

teachers and students burnt the

statues of Ravana. In the end sweets

were distributed to the whole school.

INDEPENDENCE DAY (15 August, 2016) The School celebrated 70th Independence Day with fervor. The celebration began with March past and National Flag was hosted by Chairman Mr. Rakesh Bhandari. Students presented cultural events. Tiny-tots performed group dance on the song “It happens only in India” The main attraction of the celebration was one act play presented by the boys on the theme of “Aazadi ke Dewane”. Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh addressed the special assembly.

MOTIVATIONAL ASSEMBLY PROGRAMME FOR SENIOR STUDENTS (30 SEPTEMBER 2016) A special assembly was organized by senior students Hritik Kumar, Sumit Lather, Akash Attri, Mridul, Dipesh and Akash Kashyap. The six scholars of the school motivated other students and teachers by discussing great thoughts and videos of legends like Shiv Khera, Arindam Chaudhuri, Sandeep Maheshwari, APJ Abdul Kalam, Sandeep Nayar, Narendra Modi and Vivek Bindra. Principal Daljeet Singh Rana said such activities were essential for an all-round development of students.

CANDLELIGHT MARCH FOR ARMY SOLDIERS OF URI ATTACK A candlelight march was organized by the school. The students and teachers paid homage to 18 soldiers of the army who died in the Uri terror attack recently. The march was led by Chairman Rakesh Bhandari, VC Renu Bhandari and Principal Daljeet Singh Rana. The students observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the martyrs. A special patriotic assembly was organized.

WORKSHOP BY MOHAMMAD FAISAL, A THREE-TIME WORLD RECORD HOLDER The school organized a workshop for students, parents and teachers; it was hosted by Mohammad Faisal, a three-time world record holder for strongest memory. The aim was to make everyone aware of Vedic maths and how to enhance memorizing abilities.

HEALTHY DIET With the idea to promote healthy eating habits amongst the students, the school held an activity regarding the same for classes K.G – V. The crux of the activity was to make them aware about the importance of balanced diet. The classes had their lunch in school mess and the main emphasis was on fruits and green leafy vegetables. The Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana said, we are lucky to have such a wide range of foods now-a-days and skipping lunch is not the way to keep you going through the day.

DIS organized a special assembly for making students more active and creative. The students of 9th class presented a role play activity on “The Parliamentary system of Government”. Students told about the features of Parliamentary Government and different organs of the Government at different levels. The students played the role of Legislature, Executive and Judiciary and aware the students. Students also explained the powers and functions of President and Prime Minister. Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana, Chairman Mr. Rakesh Bhandari, VC Mrs. Renu Bhandari and Incharge Ranjana Rana encourage the students for their creative efforts.

BAHADUR SHASTRI (2 OCT, 2016)

The Divine International School Parwanoo

(Residential) celebrated the birth anniversary of

mahatma Gandhi and the 111th birth anniversary of

former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Students

and teachers paid tributes to the national heroes.

The students of classes I to VIII made a human chain

and sang songs based on truth and non - violence

NAVRATRI CELEBRATION DIS organized a special assembly for Navratri celebration the 9 Avtars of Divine Mother Durga. Chairman Mr. Rakesh Bhandari, VC Mrs. Renu Bhandari, Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana and teachers did Kanjak Poojan an important ritual that is followed to culminate the Navratri celebration. Little girls were worshiped, fed with “Saatvik Bhojan” and then they were sent bank home with gifts. In return these little “Durga Avatars“ bless the people. There was a special aarti of Divine Mother Durga at the end of the celebration.

DIS organized inter class volleyball match. It was played

between 9th and 10th standard. Sports teacher Mr. Surender

and Mr. Dharam Pal played the role of referee. 10th class

took an early lead and dominated for the first set with some

strong hitting for 25 / 16 score. 9th

standard came back

fighting in the second set and led with 25/11 score. 9th

standard won the match and Chairman Mr. Rakesh

Rana presented winner trophy to the winner team.

The students of XTH standard present a skit on first aid to aware the students and teachers of the school. They message the students and teachers what should we do when major and minor accidents occur in our surrounding. If there is case of nose bleeding, profuse bleeding and minor injury how we can give first aid to the injured person. Principal Mr. Daljeet Singh Rana, Incharge Ranjna Rana and Science Teacher Mrs. Malkeet applauded the efforts of students.
