Maths Number focus on taking away: ELG : Children count reliably with numbers from 1 to 20, place them in order and say which number is one more or one less than a given number. Using quantities and objects, they add and subtract two single-digit numbers and count on or back to find the answer.LO : To take objects away from total to find out how many are leftUsing songs and through’ acting out’ the songs model how each time it is one less through ‘TAKING ONE AWAY’.

Using objects at home and starting with 10- go up to 20 if your child is secure with 10 roll a dice and ‘take away’ from 10 to find how many are left.

What is before Tuesday, after Friday etc.• How many months in a year, days in one week, hours in a whole day & night, seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour• What is the weather like- keep a record of the weather across a whole week and count how many sunny days, rainy days etc and compare.• Talk about the season of Spring- ask your child how do they know it is Spring eg : lighter mornings, sunny days, can be cold, signs of new life - birds nesting, new green leaves,
on the trees, bumble bees, daisies in grass, ladybirds to name a few.

Handwriting:
When doing a handwriting sheet or activity please try to watch where your child starts each letter and correct them.It can help to group letters together. Please refer to pdf on website. Do not worry about the ‘k’ being curly as this can be tricky !
