    INTRODUCTION A modern state cannot be thought of without a

    Constitution. The entire legislative, executive and judicial functions of the State are guided and regulated by the Constitution. The constitution and its development, as the supreme legal framework of a country, is a continuing process so that theconstitutional amendments is necessary for

    country.

    To keep the constitution relevant to thecurrent times the constitution of Bangladesh has been amendments 15 times.

    13 th Amendment

    The 13th

    amendment was passed on March26, 1996, by which caretaker governmentsystem was incorporated in the constitution.

    It helps us to get rid of monocracy. It provided the people to enjoy their

    14 th Amendment The Constitutional Act 2004 was passed providing,among others, the following provisions reservationof 45 seats for women on a proportionalrepresentation basis for the next 10 years increase inthe retirement age of Supreme Court Judges from65 to 67 years and displaying of portraits of thePresident and the Prime Minister in all government,semi-government and autonomous offices and diplomatic missions abroad.

    country. Because of our male dominatedsociety women have slightly lesser scopeto serve as politicians than men.Increasing the age limit of the judges has

    enabled the experience judges to servethe country for longer period .

    Quotas reserved women seats arediscriminatory against men .

    Women elected through quotas mayfind it more difficult as they are notperceived as being equally competent

    as their male counterparts.

    Conclusion Constitutional amendments is

    necessary for every country. But in ourcountry political parties makeamendments to the constitutionunnecessarily for their own benefit .

    This kind of practice has to be left forthe welfare of the country.
