focus on this region and specially Pakistan,
Afghanistan and India.
The magnitude of September 11 attacks and the
location of islamist forces that carried out these

As a result of 9/11 it seems that the US was havingthe three main goals in the South Asia.
Firstly the US wanted to prevent the war and tensionbetween the India and Pakistan and wanted theircooperation against the anti terrorism campaign and
maintain its bilateral relations with the two of thenations of the South Asia.
Secondly, the US wanted to stop the conflict betweenthe India and the Pakistan in terms of nuclearexchange and make sure that the nuclear weaponsrelated material in south Asia is not obtained by the
terrorist communities. For the long terms the US wanted to solve the
Kashmir issue between the two states and preventingthe creation of refuge from the extremist militants inthe area.

As a consequence of the September 11th attackthe Pakistan was targeted by the US against thecampaign operation enduring freedom inAfghanistan. Two factors were playing a key
role in placing Pakistan important in the eyes ofthe US these were:
1) The Pakistan was sharing a border withAfghanistan and was among the countries thathas a diplomatic relations with the Taliban
Regime.2) Pakistan combined the two major threats to
the United States: having perceived links withTalibans and the weapon of mass destruction

There are a great changes in relations with the US,
India and Pakistan after 9/11. For the first time the
united states is having a great relationship with
Pakistan and India at the same time.

US should look for the ways to continue to built strong
bilateral connections with India and Pakistan including
the economic, political, and regional concerns. It
should establish good relations with Pakistan and India
based on their qualities individually.
The US should have to revise its drone policies against
Pakistan but a recent interview of the US defense
minister and on the same day a drone attack indicates
that the US is not going to change its policies againstdrone attacks.
