    PROFILE OF RINL

    (VISAKHA STEEL PLANT)

    To meet the growing domestic needs of steel, Govt. of Indiadecided to set up an integrated steel plant at Visakhapatnam.An agreement was signed with erstwhile USSR in 1979 forcooperation in setting up 3.4 Mt integrated steel plant at

    Visakhapatnam. The foundation stone for the plant was laid bythe then prime minister on 20th January 1971.

    The project was estimated to cost Rs. 8397.28 Based on process

    as on 4th quarter of 1981. However, on completion ofconstruction and commissioning of the whole plant in 1992, thecost escalated to around Rs.8,500 Cr. unlike other integratedsteel plant in India, Visakhapatnam steel plant (VSP) is one ofthe most modern steel plant in the country. The plant wasdedicated to the nation on 1st August 1992 by the then prime

    minister, shri PV Narsimharao.

    Introduction

    The oxford dictionary defines "Labour welfare as efforts to makelife worth living for workmen".

    Employee Welfare Measures is very important to any industry tosurvive the company, and to growth & development of thecompany. Industrial relations depending on employees welfarein any organization.

    A worker need to be satisfied regards his culture and livingenvironment.

    Hence the imperative needs to provide a welfare services tosatisfy his personal and family needs is felt.

    Analysis

    Response s as arrived at for all subjectsalmost everyone has agreed that it is theresponsibility of management to take care the

    welfare of employees

    More than 29% of the subject have notagreed to the statement that it will be difficult

    to entered all welfare measure.Around 27% of the subject could not response

    in any manner weather VSP is entering morebenefits than the stationary requirements

    FINDINGS:

    Out of above analysis studied out of thefollowing are the findings.

    1.Majority of the employees have a clear viewover the concept of welfare.

    2.The employees are able to differentiate thestatutory welfare and non-statutory measures.

    3.Many of the employees have a clear view withrespect to the impact of welfare measures over

    the production and productivity.

    INFERENCES

    As per analysis of data and interpretation thefollowing inferences can be had.

    1.Management of VSP had be extendingsatisfactory welfare measures to bothemployees and contract labor.

    2.Management with an open mind has beenconsidering the different measures and also

    taking view of the representative of employeein this re ard.
