Bárbara Exposto|1983

Graduated with a Master degree in Architecture and Urban Design in 2009 by ISCTE (IUL) – Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e Empresa. In 2009 also published her Master thesis entitled “Espaço Público – O Regresso ao Lugar” (Public Space – Back to the Place) a study about the fragile bond between social problems and the public space inspired by a social neighborhood in Oporto – Bairro do Contumil. Determined, highly organised and easy going with strong inter-personal skills and committed to high quality and creativity standards of work. Collaborated with two Architecture offices in the last five years and has been involved in a variety of architecture, design and urban projects. Official and current member of the Association of Portuguese Architects since 2010 with direct equivalence to exercise as Part II Architectural Assistant according to RIBA. January 2014 to present – Part-time Architectural Assistant at Panoramah! UK. Support work, review of architectural documents and delivery of technical solutions for minimal frame windows system installation. Budgeting, costs estimate and schedules associated with construction projects. Work closely with clients, contractors, and other architects. Monitoring work on site. July 2011 to December 2013 – Project Architect at INTERSETA - Responsible for architectural projects from design to execution, site construction, budgeting and assisting work on engineering specialty projects. Also gained experience in several planning permissions. An achievement with this practice was the closest and constant communication with clients and design teams. Projects development and supporting work for Retail, Housing, Refurbishing projects for downtown Lisbon and several apartments. January 2009 to July 2011 – Trainee/Assistant Architect at LNA - Completed in the required internship for Ordem dos Arquitectos (Portuguese Institute of Architects) at this office and kept on as an Architectural Assistant. Development and completion of technical drawings for architectural projects in conceptual phase, planning permission and construction phase. Specialised in Health Care facilities and Hospitals. Several refurbishing projects for private and institutional clinics, hospitals and elderly homes. Involved in public contests, tender projects and supporting work for Public Spaces, Touristic Resorts and Housing.

8 Houses in Marvila, Portugal (2009) Proposal for 8 ephemeral houses. Each house has the primary form of "home": 4 walls and roof (which protect us from the outside) and the components we need: a kitchen and a bathroom (which give us the commodity of living). Regarding the remaining empty space the tenant can create a mutable emptiness with empty cubes 2.00x2.00m, which he can rent. The combination between the fixed and needed mutation can increase a home to be inhabited in several ways according to its tenant. Final Academic work

(showed previously) creating a bond between new inhabitants and placed on the most visited streets in Marvila. The building interacts with the streets axis creating two different volumes

distinguished by their functionality and configuration. The Library aims to emphasize the idea of the influx of a young and active layer in Marvila, combining its basic functions with leisure
