This is a sampling of my works I created at the time of my study process for bachelor’s degree at Biotechnical Faculty in Ljubljana.I learned a vast array of skills while gaining an even deeper appreciation for both the natural and built landscape. My studies have only contributed to my eagerness to continue learning and exploring. I hope that these projects can help demonstrate my passion toward the profession and dedication to it. My journey in landscape architecture has only begun and I look forward to accepting new challenges.

The space of the city or town as it is expected to function, is a visual message of a complex order in which people function, although at first glance it seems like a virtual disarray. This complex order is actually maintaining life on the streets. On the empty sidewalks the town does not function. This image is currently reflected in Črnomelj. Because the fine structure of the old town is torn with a transit road, here we can not even talk about the real sidewalks, therefore with no people on the street creating the pulse, the town centre remains dead.
The design goal was the revival of the town reflected in the new regime of paved surfaces in the center that underlines the threefold structure of the town. Paving the streets means they are entirely designed for pedestrians, so as to restore the vitality of a medieval lively town and redirecting cars outside the center. The triangle-shaped building complex in the north represents an entry point into the center with the solution of a market and an underground parking garage.As for the green space by the river, it is quite impassablebecause riparian vegetation and individual gardens. Theprob-lem is more evident in the misuse of municipal public space for private purposes, because people use the riparian space for individual gardens, thus depriving the general public of such a space. To obtain the actual community green area along the water, this is based on the concept of community gardens on grass terraces, which are natural looking and imitate the flow of the river. The direct connection to the surrounding nature presents the wooden boardwalk, raised above the flood level with built-in wooden benches.

Sports park Kodeljevo is a park-like area for recreation and professional sport in Ljubljana. It has a lifelong sports tradition, since it’s been the main functional area for Slovan, the oldest sports society in Slovenia, for the students of the sports facul-ty, primary school students and many more users, mostly peo-ple living nearby. However, this park is in need of renovation and space reconstruction due to it’s fragmented and non-co-herent space, which is fractured in several smaller spaces and it doesn’t look like much of a park anymore. Therefore, in this project we tried to rearrange the park into an integrated space which still has many and more functions for users and most of all, that it operates as a whole.In this project he whole image of the sports park is a com-plex product which trends to transparency. The whole area is designed for sports activities, but for different users, from sports students to athletes and recreational users. Also, every group of users deserves their own environment where they feel good and can fully engage in sports activities. In the park we increase the order of space by using tree clusters, which are attached to an existing grid of courts and facilities and connect them. In addition to the cluster interconnection the park is connected with a new multifunctional path, which provides better view-points on the park since it is slightly elevated from other areas and it also climbs on the roof of faculty to provide dynamics. The trail has a scenic and recreational function and can be used by visitors as a walking path with panoramic views or as a sports area for jogging.

The town Žiri has been known through history for it’s crafts-manship and it’s cultural contributions. After the construction of Alpina factory, Slovenian shoe making company, the city began to expand on the other side of the Sora river which be-came the new part of Žiri. Beause of the non-coherent spread of human settlement in the area, the old town’s space has become spreaded with roads, fragmented and inhospitable for pedestrians. Our contribution to content and spatial revival and urban design of Žiri proposed an establishment of routes that wouldn’t be used just for motorized transportation, but could be of more use to pedestrians and cyclists. Therefore, visitors and users have more ways of connecting to both the landscape and urban spacing. With the creation of a levee on both sides of the river, we have proposed a creation of a path and have simultaneously solved the problem of river flooding. The river shore design proposed isn’t just a way of connecting the old and the new part of Žiri, but it also holds potential for social gatherings and maybe even tourism. The beech tree avenue is planted by the new pathway as a spatial element representing the town’s history, because the town got it’s name from the beech mast, which translates in Slovene as “žir”. The avenue connects the new part to the old town center, where we have rearranged the design for the town square. We placed covered market stands where merchants and craftsmen could sell their products and promote the cultural significance and traditions of Žiri.

The playground lies in the south-east part of Ljubljana near the confluence of Glinščica and Gradaščica river. In it’s vicin-ity are a few kindergartens, a primary school and secondary school Vič, but it is also accessible to residents of apartment complexes and housing settlements. The playground is ac-cesible from the four corners, so the users can come from all directions. The advantages of the locations are quite favor-able to provide an interesting playground, such as the inclined slope next to the river, the vegetation that provides shade and it’s location next to the housing complexes. For my design, I have envisioned an asphalt platform that connects 8 circu-lar formations, which are meant to be sensoric islands. Each of those is specially designed to a specific group of children or adolescents, to stimulate specific senses, some also have added elements for creating sounds and different nets and bars for climbing. Each island is designed with different ma-terial that would enhance the sensation of a specific human sense. The emphasis is also on the shaping of the terrain, making elevated and lowered surfaces that distinguish the islands from the platform. The diferences in elevation are a substitution for traditional playground equipment. This kind of playground design doesn’t dictate how users should use the playground. This allows users to use their imagination when using the playground surface. In the end, we are left with a spacious, playful area where the circular zones are connected into unified area.

Valentina Schmitzer as.MarkoDobrilovič The playground’s planting plan leans towards giving the users a sensual experience while spending time at the playground. Vegetation consists of trees, shrubs and ecological grass mix-ture. The selection of trees varies from different colours, tex-tures, shapes and suitability for the space of play. The main idea is to maintain sensual diversity only with a diversity of woody plants throughout the whole year, and in each season somecharacteristicsofplantspopout,forexamplefloweringtrees in spring. The design of planting is a bit different than the default sensoric playground layout, because in this case the planting is considered more important that other elements that can provide sensual experiences.

Komenda cemetery - two-point perspective

KOMENDA CEMETERY
project type: designing a cemetery, space of memory status and year: individual studio work, 2013 location: Komenda , Municipality of Komenda, Slovenia instructed by: prof. dr. Ana Kučan as. Nejc Florjanc Komenda and its old cemetery has encountered a problem with being overcrowded, so the main purpose of this project is to create a space for the new cemetery, preferably with the new ceremony possibilities for the deceased. The suggested new space for the cemetery is separated from the old one with the main local road. Because of the road this cemetery com-plex decomposes into two parts, which must be combined. My main principle was effectively solve the problem of discontinu-ities the old and the new part and put it into context. Firstly, to link it on a given landscape element extracted from this area, and secondly, to the concept of the perception of death or life. I solved the problem of separation with a single axis, which runs through the whole given area and is reasonably associ-ated with the old cemetery. In the old cemetery I proposed a set of columbariums, inserted in a hedge. The trail from the old cemetery to the far end of the new one begins at the oppo-site the existing mortuaries along the road. Due to the height difference it is cleaved at the new entrance with stairs and a slope ramp for the disabled, which is highly geometric. The route then continues all the way to the upper edge of the area, which again falls ill with the road which gives a passage to the church. This main axis is a functional divide in the design, from which the memory path branches off and joins again, and is the main route for smaller service paths between the graves .The memory path leads to the open around water basin, which is located on the outskirts of the platform for the scat-tering of ashes. The platform is based on the principle of the pier to support the wall of the concrete,dressed in stone, such as marble. The birch tree avenues are planted softly in lines to open up in the direction of the broadest and unobstructed view of the surroundings. Conceptually, the essence of this spatial concept is a water motif installed in an open part of the cemetery, which is the essence of the meaning and useful for scattering ash. The idea of water was physically show their own perception of life itself as well as its volatility, cyclicality in the case of fluctuating the water level. At the rainy autumn and spring times the maximum water level at normal intensity of rainfall and the optimum summer droughts and dry winters lowest. However, minimum water level in the cavity is main-tained with tap installation, because water represents eternal life and should not be left to vanish. The cemetery as a space of memory is open and transparent space for reflection.

project type: designing a green space in student dormitory area, designing a permaculture garden status and year: group project, 2015 location: Rožna dolina, Municipality of Ljubljana, Slovenia investor: Študentski domovi v Ljubljani (Ljubljana’s student dormitory office) The area of student dormitories in Ljubljana is a park-like space, where students and other people like to gather and relax under the trees. The area is not particularily equipped with many designed elements other than benches, because there is no need of any. The main role of the space especially in summer is for people to sit around on the grass, play games and attending smaller concerts. The goal of this project is to add more colour to existing space with colourful fruit trees and shrubs and adding a community permaculture garden for stu-dents to provide food for themselves and to encourage them to function even more as a community and to spread the ide-ology of conserving nature and providing healthy food.

ROŽNA DOLINA
Permaculture is a design system that encompasses both “permanent agriculture” and “permanent culture.” It recognizes, first, that all living systems are organized around energy flows. It teaches people to analyze existing energy flows (sun, rain, mon-ey, human energy) through such a system (a garden, a house-hold, a business). Then it teaches them to position and intercon-nect all the elements in the system (whether existing or desired) in beneficial relationship to each other and to those energy flows. When correctly designed such a system will, like a natural ecosys-tem, become increasingly diverse and self-sustaining.
The permaculture garden is designed as a sketch, so its appearance is always adaptable and the garden is free od con-structed concrete elements, optimized to the guidelines of perma-culture gardening. The vegetable and flower beds are elevated from the surface and enclosed with stone edge. The garden is functioning as an ecosystem planted with vegetables on the principle of growing companions, groundcover flowers and plants, fruit shrubs and berries.
