The tractor ride through the park was a highlight of the day and the students loved seeing the free roaming kangaroos and the many duck varieties swimming on the ponds. Under the parks main hut, students were able to feed the lambs and piglets and even milk Buttercup the cow. The students were so excited about being able to pat the resident carpet python, koalas and wombats. Stage 1 enjoyed a beautiful day in the sunshine and learnt a lot about many of Australia's native animals as well as some domestic farm animals. Thank you to our parent helpers and Stage 1 teachers that made the day possible.

CREATIVE CRITTERS Last Friday, we enjoyed welcoming 25 new little faces to Creative Critters. We were delighted to get to know these children while enjoying fruit break and a play in the sunshine. After our adventures outside, we returned inside to listen to Mrs O’Neill’s favourite story ‘The very hungry caterpillar.’ Everyone then created a colourful butterfly to take home to show their mums and dads. We are looking forward to getting to know these children and their families over the coming weeks. Creative Critters runs every Friday from 9:15-10:45. For further information and to register please see the Office.

Library News Premier’s Reading Challenge This year’s NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge closes on Friday 31st August. This means there are still 4 weeks left for students to complete their Challenge. Any student who read extra books over the holiday break, bring in a list of those books to the library so that they can be added to their PRC record. Keep on reading, as; “The more you read, the more you know.” Dr Seuss

Debating News Tomorrow will see the showdown between our two Ashtonfield debating teams when they go head to head in Round 4 of the Premier’s Debating Competition for Years 5 & 6. Both teams have taken part in a series of debates against other schools and are currently undefeated. Unfortunately, tomorrow, only one of our teams will be winners. This debate will take place at 2.00pm in the Library. Interested parents are welcome to be part of the audience. It will be a very interesting debate and we wish both teams all the very best.

KP

Wow, what a Semester KP have had we have learnt so many amazing things! Throughout Term 2, KP have been learning about Ab-original culture and reading Aboriginal Dreamtime stories and appreciating Aboriginal artworks. We have really been enjoying listening to these stories and painting our very own artworks. During Week 1, KP participated in NAIDOC week celebrations and were privileged to be able to look at some Aboriginal artefacts, participate in traditional ceremonies, paint our very own boomerangs and participate in Aborigi-nal sports and games. KP are thoroughly enjoying learning about Aboriginal culture. Miss Tilbrook and Mrs Perry are very proud of the effort KP have put in during these lessons. Keep up the good work KP!
