You have not heard from us in over seven months and that’s because our casting problems unexpectedly have continued (as well as things being silent with our European lines). Our main casting supplier had been shut down during these months because of personal problems. We were unaware that he had ceased operations as it was always “Will be casting next week,” but next week never seemed to come. So we have parted company with him which is sad because we had been doing business with him for around 30 years. Our new casting company is a larger operation and is doing just fine and gives us great service. They have been doing the molding and casting of all new models. They are scheduled to pick up the approximately 200 molds this month. Then they have to get them organized in their shop, but this will take time. Sorry that the reissue of the three “Never-weres” announced last issue and other ships like NORTHAMPTON and NEW ORLEANS (for which we have a lot of backorders) did not get cast, but we will make them a high priority with our new caster. So get your Superior orders in soon. Such orders will guide us in determining the order in which the ships are produced as we start to increase our inventory with our new casting company. Again, better days are coming for the Superior line. Speaking of Superior, our model maker Wayne Smith has completed/is working on nine new models! Check out the special group pricing! (Offers good until 15 October 2019.) In addition, we are re-releasing the Superior 1:2400 line. These are excellent WWII and modern models and very reasonably priced. List later in this issue Some great new 1:1250 models just announced by Spider Navy; Something new should be coming from Navis/Neptun soon. Keep checking our Facebook page. Now congratulations to Wayne Smith! This year marks his fiftieth year in the hobby. He started as an apprentice at the Superior factory when he was a teenager. He had a very successful career as a computer executive with Johns Hopkins but really never left the hobby. Twenty years ago when we bought the Superior line, he started making models for us. He is now retired and will have more time to devote to this endeavor. Wayne has just completed a move to smaller quarters (“Empty nest”, no more lawns to mow, no more house repairs. etc.!) which will delay completing all the new models listed in this issue a bit. The good news that there is a small woodworking/machine shop nearby to which he will have access which will enable to speed up his modelmaking efforts. I mentioned in the last issue that things might be stirring at Clydeside. They are still doing so. Bill is like a chef who makes great dishes but can’t get them to the table or a football team who has first and goal from the one inch line and can’t put it into the end zone. I have heard from him recently and he says he is getting close. New models would be a nice Christmas present for us all! Also, keep in touch with our Facebook page. We have started reprinting wargame reports and other articles from the Alnavco Log of many years ago. We think you’ll find them most interesting! So I can only thank you for your patience with the Superior situation. With Wayne settled in his new quarters and our new caster, things will be a lot better than they have been. And as always, Sue, Pete Jr. and I appreciate your orders very much!
