Bill recently died quietly in his sleep. He was 72 years old. He was a terrific model maker but as we all know, had problems getting his models on the market. He was making progress on his Java Sea series having issued the POPE and coming this month would have been DE RUYTER and EXETER. There’s no word on what will become of his line but we hope that we will be able to carry it in the future. Bill was a dear friend to me and I will miss him. And piling on this news is the Corona Virus. Fortunately, it hasn’t affected our hobby greatly. And as many of you know, we are open and shipping orders. The firm that casts our Superior models is operational as is Navis/Neptun, Argos, Cap Aero and Figurehead. But there is one “casualty.” Our model maker Wayne Smith has been unable to get to the local workshop he uses. He managed to get the new cruisers done but not the new destroyers (SPEDS) before the virus grounded him. All are listed in this issue and we are taking orders for them. Speaking of Superior, in this issue you’ll find some golden oldies…The British Monitors and some Japanese Marus. There’s also some WWI ships that have not been available for some time. We’ll have more WWI’s for you in the next issue. His next projects are really exciting. All never- weres; Two IOWA variants and WWI German BB; Would appreciate you getting your orders in for production planning. We are hopeful that Wayne will be freed from his viral prison soon and is able to get going on the SPEDS and the above never-weres. We’ve taken another look at the Figurehead 1:1250 line and it is really outstanding. We are going to review it for you starting with their line of amphibious craft which will give you all you need for your assault on the beaches. Please note that Saratoga, Spider Navy and Mountford are no longer available from us because of manufacturing difficulties. Want to stay up-to-date on model availability? Just email us your request and we’ll email you back a list. Please stipulate the line in which you are interested. (i.e., Superior, Navis, Neptun, etc. And keep checking our Facebook page.
