Principal’s Message

With the recent announcement that Mrs Sarafoski, Principal of Peakhurst West PS, is the newly appointed principal of Brighton Le-Sands

Public School, Mr Fisher will be stepping up into the position of Acting Principal at Peakhurst West PS until further notice. Through an internal

expression-of-interest process, Mr Fisher’s position will be filled early in Term 3.

Ms Ghafauri has also been appointed to the position of Project Advisor, based at Parramatta Head Office for the next financial year.

Please join me in congratulating Mrs Sarafoski, Mr Fisher and Ms Ghafauri to their new appointments next term.

COVID – Guidelines for Term 3

Victoria has been an example that complacency can lead to additional waves of the COVID-19 virus throughout our communities. Provided

that COVID-19 is well contained in NSW, the updated health advice regarding Term 3 activities that are allowed are:

All school sport and activities including competitions aligned with current health advice

Inter-school student events and competitions

Incursions not already permitted involving external adult providers maintaining distancing and hygiene aligned with health advice of the day

Scripture

P&C meetings but with a strong preference for online where possible

Parent/teacher meetings – strong preference for online where possible unless involving serious matters that require face to face discussion

Activities that are still under consideration:

School camps

Excursions

Parent attendance at assemblies and other school events

Parent volunteers

School based activities that involve large gatherings of adults are not permitted

Your cooperation around all COVID-19 measures will support a back-to-normal life sooner rather than later.

Kindergarten Enrolments – 2021

Now is the time to enrol any students who will be attending Kindergarten at Penshurst PS in 2021. If you have a child who wil l be starting

Kindergarten next year please visit the office at school to commence arrangements for their enrolment. Similarly, if you know of anybody who

has a child who they wish to enrol in Kindergarten next year, please let them know to contact the school.

Our New School Build

Mr Fisher and I had the pleasure of accompanying our Executive Director and Director, Educational Leadership to review the progress of the

Penshurst PS redevelopment two weeks ago. As we all have seen progress from the outside, here are some pictures from the inside. From

the rooftop playground, on a beautiful day, you can see the city!

We are finalising Semester 1 student reports at the moment. These reports will be sent home on Friday 31st July 2020. As always, if you

would like to discuss your child’s report with their teacher, please feel free to arrange a time with them to discuss your child’s progress.

Being the final newsletter for the term, I want to congratulate everyone for supporting the school and each other during these COVID times.

As we can now travel regionally within NSW, take the opportunity to visit our country neighbours and supporting their communities/economies.

Please stay vigilant with social distancing and COVID-19. Please have a lovely break. Please stay safe and happy. With the first Monday

being a staff development day, students return to school in Term 3 on Tuesday 21st July 2020. Remember, don’t be late. Don’t miss the
