NEXT MEET ING WEDNESDAY 2 8 TH . OCT
Well as Summer leads into Autumn the weather which has been rather mixed is still
with us and hopefully may improve to become an “Indian Summer”. This year has been a mixed affair with some successful and enjoyable trips and events but tinged with sadness at the loss of some of our members and friends. Hopefully 2016 will be kinder in that respect. We still have a few functions left to attend so try and support our group. Just to remind you that “Grow Your Tenner” starts again this month (13th October) so if you wish to help
fund our “freebies” for next year now is the time to donate them “Tenners”. If you have any questions or are unable to manage on-line donations please let me know ASAP and I will help you, contact details bottom of page 4. Let’s try and beat last years total. Our trip to Southport was much enjoyed with a few members visiting the Flower Show and the rest wining and dining along the pier or prom. Weather was wonderful and sunny
after a dull start. In the next issue there will be a for sale & wanted column for any collec-tors among us. Please keep requests short and provide phone number, contact me with de-tails. If you have any information that you would like to put in the newsletter, again con-tact me with details. Thank you Vince
Christmas Party The above event will take place at Haling Dene on the 4th December at 7pm. The meal
will be a three course meal and you can make your selection from the menu which hopefully will be available at the next meeting. It is essential to make your booking with Pam or any committee member or by e-mail, address on page 4. It would be beneficial if you could book your requirements as soon as possible so that wastage is kept to a mini-mum. For PWP and their carers the meal is free and for guests £15 per head. Entertain-
ment is by Tom Wenlock and as usual a raffle will be held and Bingo played. Vince
October Meeting At the above meeting on the 28th Oct our speaker from St Giles Hospice will be inform-ing us of their services and support to the com-munity.

Techno Tip If you have a smart phone
Parkinson’s UK has an app called “Easy Call”. Suitable for both Apple & Android phones. It allows the user to add / delete their most im-
portant contacts with just a few taps of the screen. Large buttons allow you to ensure you hit the right contact easier. Also on the App
front page if you tap on the i
you’ll get access to lots of PKUK up to date infor-mation and PKUK news. Just go to your app store
and search easy call. Install the app and fill with your contacts and away you go. Thank you. Vince

you work out their
positions in the grid so that each of the differ-

We’ve put 2 numbers in to help you. Do the
sums left to right and

Future Coach Trips It is intended next year (2016) to run at least two coach trips again for our
main day trips. Other trips may be in the offing. Therefore, suggestions from any members on where you might like to go would be welcome. You can submit your ideas as usual to any committee member and all ideas will be considered. Please don’t be shy as everybody has a favourite place or two. Trips will probably be selected on popularity and suitability, but can be dis-
cussed at future meetings. Thank you Vince.
Brain Teasers Are these brain teasers
still offering a suitable challenge to those that attempt them? If not please let me know and I will try something else.
Thank you. Vince
Obituary
Sorrowfully, once again this year, I have to
report the passing away of another one our members. With a very heavy heart and much sorrow I have to inform you of the death of Mr Keith Whitehouse on Monday 10th of August 2015. Keith suffered from PSP. We offer our deepest sympathies and support to Ellie his wife, and all his family and friends.
To all those that knew him Keith’s humour was very sharp and he always “Took the biscuit” The funeral service took place on 25th August 2015 at Telford Crematorium. There were family flowers and donations made to Katherine House Hospice.

All That Is Worth Cherishing In This World Begins In The Heart Not In The Head
Tulips Galore
F ollowing last years successful Tulip planting we are giving you the opportunity once again to show off your gardening prowess. We have
purchased some more James Parkinson tulips. You know the story and history behind the Tulips from last year so I won’t
bore you again. Alison will be controlling the sale etc. of the Tulips. Happy Planting!
Bags of 10 tulips will be on sale at the September / October meeting for £3.00. All profits will be going into our support group funds. So don’t be shy!! Thank you for your support. Thank you Vince.
Scams It’s getting close to that time of year again when the unscrupulous among us
try even harder to part us from our hard earned money. Please remain vigilant both when answering the door and when answering the telephone. Remember your bank will NEVER ask you for your bank details over the phone, if you don’t know who is calling you then HANG UP!! When answering the door, if you don’t expect anyone to call try and look
out of a window and if you don’t recognise them ask for ID (all reputable companies provide this to cold callers). If you have no business with them tell them to go away. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. If in doubt or if you feel threatened phone 101 or 999 and ask for advice. Also don’t forget, if you haven’t ordered a parcel you don’t require it’s deliv-
ery to be rearranged it’s a scam!! If you need an official sign for your door requesting trade callers not to knock and disturb you please let me know. Vince
Donation Targeting If you have been targeted by Charities by post or phone within the last six months I would appreciate it if you would inform me
of the name of the charity and type of request e.g. leaving money in a legacy or increasing your current donation etc. We all give to charity (via membership or donation) or fundraise to the best of our ability. However it has come to my notice that several of our members have been targeted in this way, appallingly it has mostly been the PWP and not the carer. For me personally I think the practice abhorrent and intend to file a complaint to the Charities Commission once I have gath-ered sufficient information. Your details would obviously remain anonymous as I’m only interested in how many people have had
mail or phone calls or both. If you require a template letter to send to get your name removed from these lists please let me know. Thank you. Vince
Christmas PPSG Bake-off
Following on from the success of last years baking competition Ann thought this
year you might like to try your hand at a “Christmas Cake” bake off competition
for our November meeting. Run along the same lines as last year, cakes should be
presented at the meeting where they will be laid out ready for the judge(s) scruti-
ny. So come on ladies & gentlemen give it a go and may the best cake win!! Prize
for the best cake.
The Wise Man and The Fool
Said the wise man to the fool one day: "I've got a hundred candles, And lots of copper candlesticks with orna-mental handles. They cost me every cent I had But I shall be all right, And in the darkness of the eve I'll have a splendid light." The fool said: "Yes, you may be wise, But then again, praps not, Only pence had I to buy, one candle's all I got. But then, I bought some matches too And you, the silly goose, Bought none, and so without a light Your candles are no use!" The moral of the story Is simplicity's defence
For even the buffooning clown May have some common sense! The wise man and the village fool, But tell me which is which? The one with only coppers? Or the other very rich? Poet: John McLeod
