What is the Secular Franciscan Order? Founded by St. Francis of Assisi in the 13th Century, the Secular Franciscan Order is made up of lay people from every walk of life, married or single. The Order has over 400,000 worldwide and 18,000 members in the United States whose goal it is to follow the gospel life as shown to us by Sts. Francis and St. Clare. We work in many ministries within our parishes and communities, bringing with us peace and joy and love of God's creation. Come and see if this is what you are looking for. She will share her vocation with the Franciscan School of Theology, and give us a glimpse of The Master of Theological Studies and Master of Divinity graduate degrees. CURSILLO NEWS
Did you know….that the Women on the current Cursillo Weekend are counting on your prayers. Thirty five Women are on retreat, enjoying their Cursillo experience. We thank you for holding them in your prayers! The Palanca Box is in the Pastoral Center office. Just ask at the desk.
Did you know…..that the people who have made a Cursillo Weekend often gather together to pray, sing, laugh and share a meal…and this is called an Ultreya! We will be planning an Ultreya for the Mission Basilica later this year. Cursillistas, please watch the bulletin for more information!
Did you know…..that people who have made a Cursillo, have name tags that look like a slice of baloney. Throughout Orange County, on the third Sunday of each month, parishioners often wear their “Baloneys” to church. Why? So, that you (who have not yet made a Cursillo Weekend) will stop us and ask– “What is that about?” We can then give you more information about Cursillo and invite you to consider making a Weekend. Watch for it! The next Cursillo Weekends will be in October. Start planning now! Please consider joining us!

Dismissal leaders are needed in RCIA for our young children who are preparing for the sacraments of initiation. If you would be willing to lead a small group of children during the 9 AM mass, one Sunday a month starting in September, 2015 through May 2016, a training meeting will be held in September. Dismissal leaders lead the children to under-stand the story of the Gospel and the message that Jesus brings each Sunday. It is a rewarding ministry with minimal time commitment. Requirements are that the leader has completed all sacraments of initiation, is a registered member of the parish, and will attend a training session, complete mandatory fingerprinting requirements and online safe envi-ronment training. Dismissal leader training session will be held on Thursday, September 3, Room C, 7:30 to 9 PM. CALL NOW TO REGISTER for the training or if you need further information. WHAT IS AN RCIA PARISH SPONSOR?
An RCIA parish sponsor is an active Catholic man or woman who is willing to share their Catholic faith with an adult who is preparing to complete their sacraments of initiation or seeking baptism. Meetings are held on Sunday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 AM. Sponsor qualifications: A Catholic in good standing with the Church (has received all the sacraments of initiation – baptism, confirmation and eucharist, and, if married, must be married in the Catholic Church).
Knitting and Crochet Ministry Thank you ladies for sharing your time and stiches of love. This year we have made baskets filled with beautiful caps, infant blankets and scarves. The caps were shared with the Women’s Wellness Center of Mission Hospital, for women who have been diagnosed with cancer. The infant blankets were given to Birth-Choice, and the scarves were shared with our seniors in the assisted living homes and with our shelter-less community. Ladies, without your gifts, and your desire to share your time and love, there would not be a ministry of love. Thank you. Our Knitting and Crotchet Group has 20 parish members who meet on the first Tuesday of the month from 9:30-11:00 in the Parish office. If you have a willing heart, and a desire to help, we would be happy to show you how to knit or crotchet. Our next meeting will begin September 1st. You are welcome to join us. PREGUNTA DE REFLEXION DE LA SEMANA
MENSAJE DE LA SEMANA: Nos encontramos para Renovar Nuestra Fe en el Señor Jesús y nuestro compromiso de seguir realizando su proyecto, que no es otro que el proyecto del Padre: un Mundo Nuevo, más fraterno, más justo. Éste es el test de nuestra realidad creyente. Hemos venido a alimentarnos de su Palabra y del Pan de la Vida. También en este domingo, la liturgia nos sigue brindando la oportunidad de profundizar en el mensaje del Nuevo Moisés y Maestro, que es Jesús. El domingo pasado se nos presentó como Pan de Vida, capaz de saciar el hambre de cuantos le acogen en sus vidas. Hoy vuelve a insistirnos en el tema, intentando llevarnos a la súplica, confiada y profunda, del relato evangélico: “Señor, danos siempre de ese pan”. Y es que cada uno de nosotros, cada hombre y mujer, busca seguridades en la vida, porque necesita una estabilidad para su caminar de cada día. Jesús se ofrece como aquel que es capaz de responder satisfactoriamente a esas demandas, capaz de saciar el hambre más vital del corazón humano y de ofrecerle esa seguridad que necesita. Éste es el mensaje que se nos ofrece. La imagen del maná en el desierto es prefigura de lo que más tarde el Señor Jesús ofrece a cuantos le acogen, y ofrece a su comunidad. Por eso, el apóstol Pablo nos invitará a “vestiros de la nueva condición humana”, a la imagen de Cristo, renovando para ello la mente y el espíritu, convirtiéndonos en el hombre nuevo que nace del encuentro con el Señor resucitado. Aquí, en este caminar, nos encontramos nosotros, siguiendo las huellas del Señor Jesús, configurándonos con Él, para que llene nuestra vida y la ilumine: “el que viene a mí no pasará hambre, y el que cree en mí no pasará nunca sed”. Ahí está su oferta. ¡Dichoso quien Acoge a Jesús en su vida, porque tendrá el Alimento que perdura!

En Juan 6:26 Jesús es muy directo con las personas que lo buscan: “En verdad, en verdad les digo: ustedes me buscan, no por las señales que han visto, sino porque han comido de los panes y se han saciado”. Los está llamando “interesados”, no amigos. Hay muchas ocasiones en las que actuamos como esas personas a las cuales Jesús llama la atención. No buscamos a Jesús porque es “pan de vida”,
sino porque queremos que nos dé algo. Deseamos que nos ayude, que nos sirva, que nos complazca. Muchos cristianos dicen que si vamos a Jesús él nos hará ricos, nos tendrá siempre en salud, nos ayuda-rá a ganar la lotería, etcétera. Hablan como si Jesús nos hubiera prometido una vida fácil y sin complicacio-nes. Los evangelios dicen lo contrario, la vida cristiana es difícil. Jesús no es un cajero automático que visi-tamos sólo cuando necesitamos algo de él. No podemos tener relación íntima con una máquina. EL TRABAJO QUE DIOS QUIERE
¡Estamos tan ocupados! Muchos de nosotros tenemos más de un trabajo y parecería que nunca tene-mos suficiente tiempo. Somos trabajadores, voluntarios, padres, amigos y la mayoría es más de una cosa a la vez. Pero, ¿cuál de estos es el trabajo que Dios quiere? Rara vez vemos nuestro trabajo común como el trabajo que Dios quiere. Quizás pensamos que debe-mos ser ministros o sacerdotes, misioneros o benefactores, que debemos realizar trabajos de tiempo com-pleto que se consideran como “las obras de Dios”. Pero todo lo que hacemos con un corazón fiel y con amor por el prójimo es una obra de Dios. Cada uno tiene un papel que cumplir en el mundo y muchos dones son necesarios. No siempre podemos ver la relación directa que existe entre nuestro trabajo diario y los designios de Dios. Pero confiamos y tenemos fe en que Dios nos guía a hacer lo que es necesario, cuando es necesario. ¿Cuál es “la obra de Dios?” “La obra de Dios consiste en que crean en aquél a quien él ha enviado” (Juan 6:29).
