Kick the 2018-2019 school year off right! Grab a cup of joe, meet new parents and learn about all things Serrania. This is your opportunity to learn more about our school and ask

questions that are specific to your child’s grade level. Principal Alvarado, the FOS President

DESCRIPTION Our five-star E3 TK/ Kindergarten Enrichment Program is a unique program that provides kindergarteners with

a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience fun, hands-on curriculum. Our program is comprised of

signature monthly themes and activities, resulting in creative exploration and discovery. Your children will

experience the worlds of science, history, art and music by becoming scientists, geographers, artists and

musicians. Children will perform experiments, paint like the masters and be introduced to a variety of musical

instruments. TK/Kindergarten Enrichment is the perfect balance to a child’s academic day!

PROGRAM OPTIONS You can enroll for 1-5 days, on a month-to-month basis. Or enroll for the full year! If your child’s schedule

changes, just call the Administrative Office at the beginning of the month and we will adjust accordingly.

*A minimum of 15 full time students are needed to begin this program. If this requirement is not

met, TK/Kindergarteners will be placed in the E3 after school program for grades 1st-5th

AUGUS T S E P T EMBER

Junior Rangers Academy We start off the year going on an African Safari through the Serengeti

Plains and continue to travel to the tropical rainforests of South America. The African art and animals we see on our journey will be our focus. We

will explore science, and introduce the ecosystems of deserts and the southern rainforests.

Science Academy, inspired by The Fantastic Flying Journey

"Hop aboard our hot air balloon!" We will be traveling in a balloon visiting different countries and continuing to learn about different

ecosystems. We will emphasize the importance of taking care of our planet, and begin to understand ecology.

OC TOB ER NOVEMBER

Exploration Academy Let’s go back in time to learn about cave dwellers, caves, and the

scientists that explore them. We will learn about the animals that live in caves. We’ll also use clay to make a cave and fossil imprints.

*Special Event: Grandparent's Tea/Cave Museum

Me on the Map/Cali fornia, Here I Come America, here I come!! Where do I live? We will learn about early

America, Native Americans and the colonial times. We will elect and hold our own E3 elections. We will share what we are thankful for

with each other.

Our Place in Space / Holiday Tradit ions Around The World

As we become Space Explorers, we will learn about our planet and the solar system in which we live. Then, we will return back to Earth and

take a journey around the world to learn about the many other holiday traditions that others share.

Invention Convention, inspired by Leonardo da Vinci & American Inventors

Let's invent! Our focus this month will be getting ready for our famous Invention Convention. We will be building our own

inventions with recycled items. We will also explore the science of botany and technology and make our own Mona Lisa portrait.

The Age of Discovery, inspired by Ben Franklin

This month, we will be inspired by the things we use everyday and the famous people that invented them. We will learn how these discoveries

advanced our communities, including how the first Post Office has changed communication since the turn of the century. Our Science

focus will be on the natural sciences like the weather.

Getting to Know You/My Anatomy Journey We will be getting to know all about each other and our amazing

human anatomy at E3 Medical School. The activities include building an individual life size model, learning about good

nutrition and healthy snacks. We will research our families and ancestry. In art, we will introduce the line family and create our

self-portrait.

APR I L M A Y / J U N E

Music Academy: Music Through The Ages We will be inspired by different genres of music through the ages and the musicians and their instruments. We will start with ancient Egypt,

learning about early percussion instruments before moving forward in time to understand how music has evolved into what we enjoy today.

Art Academy Throughout the year, we feature different artists each month. During

this month we will learn the science of art and create beautiful masterpieces of our own using different art techniques.

Students will be introduced to some of the most renowned artists of our time and capture their perspectives, portrayals and interpretations of human art. Students will learn how to sculpt a head like Picasso, carve the face of Michelangelo using soap and paint a family portrait on a clay surface like the Egyptians. That’s not all! We will also be taking our time to learn drawing techniques on how to create realistic portraits as well as how to how to create portraits using mixed media!

Students will learn the fundamentals of theatre through lesson and practice. They will learn everything from the origins and structure of drama, how to be a part of the audience, as well as setting the stage. Each day includes a warm-up of the day that targets acting skills such as focusing on energy and using your voice to project. Students will get to learn about each other and work together to create a play production towards the end of the session.

Enrichment Educational Experiences/E3 is offering a new program on your campus, Exciting After-School Experiences (E.A.S.E.). We have created this outdoor after-school program for families who are seeking a safe and free-form environment under the supervision of our trained staff. In addition to the art, music, indoor and outdoor activities, a homework hour will take place Monday-Thursday.

Enrichment Class(es): This option allows you to enroll in one or more enrichment classes for one-hour after school. Class fees are in addition to the E.A.S.E. program.
