The All-Share Index of the NSE also increased by 0.18 percent to close at 42,686.86 from 42,609.75 on Wednesday. The lender’s gross earnings rose to N30.85 billion from the N30.17 billion a year ago. Half-year pretax profit rose 81 percent to N7.89 billion from N4.35 billion. Stanbic IBTC secures N16.3bn for SMEs, energy financing Stanbic IBTC Bank says it has received a $100m (N16.279bn) line of credit from the African Development Bank for on-lending to small and medium-size enterprises in the country. According to the bank, part of the funds will be used for the financing of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Nigeria, in line with the requirements of the Clean Technology Fund. A statement announcing the deals explained that of the total amount, Stanbic IBTC Bank would fund the SME projects in Nigeria with $75m, while $25m would be used for the funding of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. The Chief Executive Officer, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Mr. Yinka Sanni, was quoted as saying the bank would continue to work towards creating avenues for the development of the Nigerian economy. Dow Average Tops 17,000 as Payrolls Rise Amid ECB Plans The Dow Jones Industrial Average (INDU) climbed above 17,000 for the first time as data showed employers added more workers than projected in June and the European Central Bank disclosed details of its stimulus plans. The Dow gained 80.37 points, or 0.5 percent, to 17,056.61 at 11:49 a.m. in New York. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (SPX) rose 0.4 percent to a record 1,982.98. Trading in S&P 500 stocks was in line with with the 30-day average during this time of the day. The market capitalization of the 194 listed equities increased by 0.18 percent to close at N14.095 trillion from N14.070 trillion recorded in the previous trading day. Market Update

Unity Bank records 91.5 percent rise in half-year profit

Unity Bank Plc, in a filing on the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday, said its

half year profit-after- tax increased 91.5 percent to N7.091 billion from the N 3.70

billion recorded same period last year. The lender’s gross earnings rose to N30.85

billion from the N30.17 billion a year ago. Half-year pretax profit rose 81 percent to

N7.89 billion from N4.35 billion.

Stanbic IBTC secures N16.3bn for SMEs, energy financing

Stanbic IBTC Bank says it has received a $100m (N16.279bn) line of credit from the

African Development Bank for on-lending to small and medium-size enterprises in the

country. According to the bank, part of the funds will be used for the financing of

renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Nigeria, in line with the
