Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time ~ XXV Domingo Ordinario

Every year, on the third Sunday of September, the Church celebrates Catechetical Sunday to commission, recognize and pray for those who serve as catechists. This year’s theme is “I received from the Lord what I also handed on to you”. This is a wonderful opportunity to live out the virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. As we experience a new form of evangelization virtually, parents are called to take on the role of being your child’s first catechist in your very own domestic church. Let us take a moment to think about and pray for those people who have been part of forming and strengthening our faith. Who taught you about your faith? Who brought you closer to Jesus? Who taught you how to pray? Who will you share your faith with? Who can you catechize? We would like to thank our catechists who have taken on the challenge to teach virtually, and those journeying with us through prayer in this holy unknown path. And to our wonderful parents for building a new foundation of faith at home. We will continue planting seeds together, even apart, so that when we come together, we will fully enjoy the sweet-ness and goodness of the fruits which we have harvested. A Prayer for Catechists (Usscb.org) Loving Father, we pray today for our catechists. We thank you for their gift of ministry in your Church. Grant them your wisdom that they may grow in the understanding and teaching of your Word. Grant them also your love that they may be fruitful heralds of your Word and lead others to love you. Pour forth your Holy Spirit upon them to grant them wisdom about what is important; knowledge of the truths of faith; understanding of their meaning; right judgement about how to apply them in life; courage to persevere even in the face of adversity; reverence before all that is sacred and holy; and that loving zeal which leads others to a transforming encounter with your Son. We pray this through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Cada año, el tercer domingo de septiembre, la Iglesia cele-bra el Domingo Catequético para encomendar, reconocer y orar por aquellos que sirven como catequistas. El tema de este año es “Lo que yo recibí del Señor, les he transmiti-do”. Esta es una maravillosa oportunidad para vivir la virtud del Bautismo, transmitiendo la fe y siendo un testimonio del Evangelio. A medida que comenzamos una nueva forma de evangelización virtual, los padres de familia están llamados a asumir el papel de ser los primeros catequistas de sus hijos en su propia iglesia doméstica. Tomemos un momento para pensar y orar por aquellas personas que han sido parte de la formación y fortaleci-miento de nuestra fe. ¿Quién te enseñó sobre tu fe? ¿Quién te acercó a Jesús? ¿Quién te enseñó a rezar? ¿Con quién compartirás tu fe? ¿A quién puedes catequizar? Queremos agradecer a nuestros catequistas que han asu-mido el desafío de enseñar virtualmente, y a aquellos que caminan con nosotros a través de la oración en este santo camino desconocido. Y a nuestros maravillosos padres por construir una nueva base de fe en casa. Seguiremos plantando semillas juntos, aunque estemos separados, para que cuando nos unamos, disfrutemos ple-namente de la dulzura y bondad de los frutos que hemos cosechado. Una Oración para los catequistas (Usscb.org) Padre amoroso, hoy oramos por nuestros catequistas. Te damos gracias por su don de ministerio en tu Iglesia. Con-cédeles tu sabiduría para que crezcan en el entendimiento y la enseñanza de tu Palabra. Concédeles también tu amor para que sean fecundos heraldos de tu Palabra y hagan que otros te amen. Derrama tu Espíritu Santo sobre ellos para concederles sabiduría sobre lo que es importante; conocimiento de las verdades de la fe; comprensión de su significado; prudencia correcta sobre cómo aplicarlas en la vida; valor para perseverar incluso ante la adversidad; re-verencia ante todo lo sagrado y santo; y ese celo amoroso que lleva a los demás a un encuentro transformador con tu Hijo. Oramos esto por Cristo, nuestro Señor. Amén.

• Catholic marriage is not simply a legal act; it is a sacred ritual in which the bride and groom, in the presence of the faith community, call upon God to witness and consecrate their love for each other.

• Baptized persons, whether Catholic or of another Christian Church, who marry according to church law create a sacrament of unity which cannot be broken.

• Marriages in which either the bride or groom is Catholic are regulated by church law. Catholic marriages must be celebrated in the presence of a Catholic priest or deacon and two witnesses.

• When two Catholics marry, the celebration of marriage normally takes place during a Mass.

• When a Catholic marries a non-Catholic, the celebration of marriage normally takes place outside of the Eucharistic liturgy, that is, without Mass. Other requirements (mostly paperwork) are also necessary for what is often called a “mixed marriage.”

• A six month period of preparation is required for marriage in the Catholic Church. If either the bride or groom has been previously married and divorced, more time may be necessary.

• Catholic marriage is a celebration of the faith community that ordinarily takes place in the parish church of either the bride or the groom. Permission of the pastor, or even the Archbishop, must be granted for a Catholic marriage to take place elsewhere.

• Neither canon law of the Catholic Church nor the Archdiocese of Santa Fe require that the bride and groom be confirmed. The reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation is strongly encouraged, however, if it can be done without serious inconvenience.

• Engaged couples should contact the parish at least six (6) months prior to their desired wedding date to reserve the date on the parish calendar and begin their marriage preparation.

• El matrimonio católico no es simplemente un acto legal; es un rito sagrado en el cual los novios en la presencia de la comunidad de fe, invocan a Dios para que de testimonio y consagre su amor el uno para el otro.

• Las personas bautizadas, ya sean católicas of de otra iglesia cristiana, que se casan según la ley de la iglesia crean un sacramento de unidad que no se puede romper.

• Los matrimonios, en los cuales uno de los novios es católico(a), son regulados por la ley de la iglesia. Los matrimonios católicos deben celebrarse en la presencia de un sacerdote católico o diacono y dos testigos.

• Cuando dos católicos contraen matrimonio, la celebración normalmente acontece dentro de la misa.

• Cuando un católico se casa con una persona que no es católica, la celebración del matrimonio acontece fuera de la liturgia eucarística, es decir, sin una misa. Otros requisitos (la mayor parte papeleo) también son necesarios para lo que se suele llamar ¨un matrimonio mixto.¨

St. Francis of Assisi Drive thru Blessing and Parade of Pets

Blessing of animals will take place on Sunday, October 4th, at 3pm.

This will be a drive thru blessing. We ask that everyone, pets included,

stay in vehicles. A blessing and gift will be given to all pets.
