IMPORTANT Hospital Information: If you are going to the hospital, please speak to the receptionist at the church and let them know when you will be admitted and what hospital you are going to. It would also be very helpful if we knew your room number. New Music Director is Coming! We are pleased to announce that we have hired James Sorrell from New Jersey for our new music director. James comes with 25 years’ experience of Catholic music and we think he will be a great fit with our staff. James will arrive in late May as he had to give notice to his church up north and we wanted to be in ordinary time to bring someone new aboard. I know you will all welcome James with open arms as we are such a welcoming community. We continue to be thankful for Vanessa, Mary, & Sherri who have played for us during this transition. Discipleship Corner The Offertory part of the Mass is about giving of ourselves in response to God’s love. The collection is taken up at this time which is your treasure you have to offer to God, but also the bread and wine are brought forth. These gifts are what we return to God as a token of our thanksgiving for the love God has shown us in Jesus. We are giving ourselves to the Lord. What gift are you going to give this week? SO THAT YOU MAY BELIEVE It is not often that the author of one of the books of the Bible comes right out and tells us directly why he is writing what he is writing. In this Sunday’s Gospel reading, taken from the conclusion of John’s Gospel, the author tells us that he has chosen to record these events so “that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through this belief you may have life in his name” (20:31). The letter of John echoes this idea by saying that “[e]veryone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is be-gotten by God” (5:1)—what we might refer to as being “born again.” Our reading from the Acts of the Apostles for this Second Sunday of Easter shows us exactly what it looks like when believers are born again through faith. Copyright © J. S.
