MEMORIAL DAY

NOEL’S NOTES

Thank you church family for the support, thoughts, and prayers after the loss of my dad. Mike, Wendy & Ava Ellis Opal Bailey and her entire family would like to express our sincere thank-you for everyone who con-tributed to her drive-by 102nd party on Saturday. It certainly was a highlight for her, and we all appreci-ate your love, care, concern and multiple cards for our special mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. You all are such a blessing to her. We love you all. Opal Bailey and her family

THANK YOU

Many thanks to everyone who continues to join us online each Sunday for our Facebook Live worship at 9:00 a.m. I’m particularly grateful for all the men who have come to the building the past eleven weeks to lead our worship, or to manage the technical side of things. College Church is blessed with gifted individuals who are making a difference during these difficult days. Of course, COVID-19 restrictions forced cancellation of traditional graduation events this year. No banquets, commencement exercises or Senior Sunday at church. So we want to honor our gradu-ates in today’s service and later with a drive-thru celebration (weather permitting) from 2:00-3:30 p.m., during which you can drop off gifts or just say “congratulations.” I certainly want to congratulate our 2020 graduates: Julianne Baker, Caroline Citty, Blane Ea-ken, TJ Hester, Carter Jones, Hayden Koch, Anna Lewis, Rebecca Lynn, Lucy Mackey, Jalen Montgom-ery, David Perkins, Natalie Randolph, Kyle Shanachilubwa, Ben Sloan, Parker Smith, Stone Sheffield, Rachel Story, Josie Thomas, Andrew Strachan and Davis Welch. We are proud of all 20 of our seniors! Congratulations is also in order for some other College Church members: Wil Perkins, who suc-cessfully defended his dissertation in education, and Greg Brooks, Cliff Ganus III, Jake Stewart, Naomi Valentine and Laurie Walker, who received Staff or Teacher Achievement Awards at Harding Universi-ty. Monday, May 25, is Memorial Day, a time to remember those who served in the military, espe-cially those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to defend freedom here and around the world. The free-dom we enjoy did not come without a cost. We should never take for granted the liberties we have. Nor should we ever fail to remember those who fought to secure them. Finally, may we always remember that every blessing we enjoy comes from above. God is the true source of strength for any nation. Without Him, we not only lack the spiritual resources to protect ourselves from our greatest enemy—sin, but fail to gain the greatest freedom—found in Christ. I hope you enjoy Memorial Day, but take a few moments to give thanks for those who fought for freedom and ask God for His continued care and provision, including an end to the pandemic. Our God is able. More than able!

All are welcome to attend a drive-thru bridal shower for Ann-Marie Gurchiek and Billy Sullivan, daughter of Jim & Cindy Gurchiek, Sunday, May 31, at the EAST (Welcome Center) awning of the College church building, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. They are registered at The Boutique, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and Amazon. You are invited to a Cards and Congratulations drive-thru Bridal Shower at the WEST awning of the Col-lege church building for Anna Walker and Levi Bogus on May 31 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Anna is the daughter of Joe & Laurie Walker and the granddaughter of Carolyn Priest. You may drop off cards and gifts early at the church office.
