Transportation Department

Allen ISD Transportation safely transports approximately 6,000 students who arrive on time and ready to learn each day. The district currently utilizes 126 buses on a daily basis, transporting children who live two miles or more from their assigned school. The transportation staff is committed to the safety of each of our student bus riders. We do not take this great responsibility lightly, as evidenced by our goal of continually improving our excellent safety record, and by our standing challenge to each other: to protect each student as if each child were our own. We feel fortunate to have one of the most experienced and dedicated transportation teams in North Texas.

Maintenance Department

The Maintenance Department provides maintenance, repair, and utility services for facilities through such trades as carpentry, electrical, general maintenance, HVAC, locksmith, and plumbing. Routine maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance, urgent maintenance, and preventive maintenance are all administered by Facilities Maintenance to insure personal safety, operational and structural integrity, as well as the longevity of building components and systems. The term “maintenance” normally applies to both maintenance and repair of existing buildings and building systems. Maintenance includes inspection; adjustment, lubrication, and cleaning (non- custodial) of equipment; painting; resurfacing; and other actions to assure continuing service and to prevent breakdown. Maintenance does not prolong the design service life of the property or equipment, nor does it add to the value of the asset or property. Maintenance is typically preventive in nature and is usually preplanned and scheduled. Repairs include work to restore damaged or worn-out property or equipment to normal operating condition. Repairs are curative and are usually reactive in nature and a response to a service request. The trades respond to both scheduled maintenance and emergency or urgent maintenance issues.

Safe and Secure Schools In Allen ISD, the safety of students, staff and visitors is our top priority and we take this

responsibility very seriously. Our comprehensive security program addresses prevention, intervention, student assistance, preparedness, emergency response and building security. AISD routinely reviews safety and security procedures and makes adjustments when necessary. That means we’re constantly exploring new and creative ways to enhance existing security measures and adopting those policies and protocols proven to be effective in reducing risk. It is a team effort – we rely on the continued support of students, parents and the community to keep our schools safe. We work closely with our local police and fire departments to coordinate prevention and response activities, perform regular security audits and provide frequent training to all employees on security issues.
