Tiddler: The Story-Telling Fish – Julia Donaldson Donaldson and Scheffler create another brilliant children’s picture book. Donaldson’s creation of rhyming, along with Scheffler’s dynamic illustrations will ensure readers are always engaged. This brightly coloured tale takes place in the deep blue sea. Tiddler, a pale grey fish, living amongst a glorious vivid coral reef has a small problem; he tells tales to everyone he meets. Everyday Tiddler is always late to school, making up the most elaborate stories to explain his tardiness. One day Tiddler tells his teacher he was captured by a squid and had to wait until a turtle arrived to save him. Believing everyone wants to hear a great “story”, Tiddler continues to make up these adventurous tales. The more elaborate they become the more Tiddler continues to build upon them. As his stories start to spread each fish tells one another. Whilst swimming to school Tiddler is thinking about his tale of the day, when a large fishing net swoops him up and brings him on board a fisherman’s ship. However, being such a small fish, the fisherman throw him back overboard into the sea, where he is now confused and lost in his current location. Scared and lost, Tiddler does not know what to do. How will Tiddler return to his home?

Acros c Poems allows users to learn about and

write acros c poems, a poetry form that uses the

le ers in a word to begin each line of the poem.

All lines of the poem relate to or describe the

main topic word.

It has a simple step by step process that provides

students with the ability to thoroughly brainstorm

ideas around their topic word giving them the

opportunity to enhance their vocabulary in their

acros c poem.  Topic words can be chosen from

any learning area and provide the students with a

way to crea vely display their knowledge.
