Our Stewardship theme for this year is “Enriched in Every Way … Generous in Every Way.” The theme is taken from I Corinthians 9:6-15, particularly verse 11:

As you probably are aware, Eastminster is rising to the challenge of moving on as a renewing congregation after some painful losses of membership. The good news is that historically Eastminster has embraced challenges, and we move forward with an excellent leadership team, as well as highly capable members and worshippers. A request will be made that every worshipper contributes an additional gift to Eastminster along with contributing one’s tithes and offerings. Missions Fair October 4th and 5th Browse through displays representing the many ministries that EPC supports in our community and beyond on Saturday, October 4th, in the CMC center and Sunday, October 5th in the Gathering Area.

Consider signing up to help serve meals at Daily Bread the second Tuesday of each month. We have one team of dedicated EPC members but ideally would like to have two teams and a list of substitutes.

It is not too early to be thinking about Christmas! We have some ideas for your gifts, time and talents this year.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes are here. Please stop by and pick one up. Boxes will need to be filled and will be sent to boys and girls in foreign lands. Instructions are in the reusable plastic boxes.

We need Salvation Army Bell ringers for the three Saturday's following Thanksgiving. EPC members have enjoyed ringing the bells in two hour shifts at our local Walmart for the past several years. Wishing shoppers, friends and neighbors a Merry Christmas is a unique way for EPC to spread the Christmas spirit.

Do you have a hard to shop for a relative or friend? Catalogs from the Heifer Project will be available for you. Someone close to you just might enjoy a gift of chickens or other livestock to help fill a need for the less fortunate around the globe.

Watch for our Angel Trees which will appear in November. We will once again supply wish lists from children as well as seniors.

Come and see us October 4th and 5th! We have much to share.

SESSION MEETING - SEPTEMBER 16, 2014 - SUMMARY

1. Session opened with prayer by moderator, Rev Dr. Tim Rogers-Martin. 2. Welcome to the Session, the new class of Elders 2017. 3. Financials: August 2014 net loss of $34,171, with loss for year from Jan-Aug at $204,252. It was noted that this

month contained three pay periods. 4. Attendance: Average attendance in month of August was 205 per week, showing a large increase over the same

period last year. 5. Committee Highlights.

Personnel: The committee has had to deal with several sensitive issues these past couple of months. Have authorized the posting of the part time position of Sexton with revised job description. Also authorized posting of a new part time Saturday Night Worship Leader to replace Ivy, who is pursuing a new career.

Finance: Working on a 1 page budget for Stewardship Committee which is off to a good start. Increase in attendance is an encouraging note on the budget deficit.

Facilities: Focusing on correcting doors and thresholds problem in preschool. Will then look at new plan of action to improve the classroom floors. Performing a good cleaning of the Memorial Gardens.

Worship & Music: MOTION approved to allow selected church members to serve communion when needed, but only with invitation from the Session.

Missions: Working on displays for the Oct. 5th “Missions Fair” in the gathering area. EPC has a member group attending at each of the Pridmore Center Gala and the Seafarer’s Gala.

Children/Youth: MOTIONS approved for (1) preschool bake sale fundraiser on Nov. 22-23, (2) trunk or treat on Oct. 29th and (3) advent adventures on Dec 6th. Parenting Class had a group of 15 for first meeting. Looking for more volunteers to assist in youth activities.

Congregational Care: Met with Dorcas to address issues and expanded it from the current 3 teams to 4 teams with 3 members on each team.

Outreach: MOTION approved to authorize up to $6000 for the development of a new custom website per a received quote. New website will include ability to see the site on smart phones and mobile devices as well as interface to social media. Ready for “Back to Church Sunday” next week to include open house and church group displays. Continuing to examine future outreach activities to include the Melbourne area communities.

6. Pastor/Moderators Report: Complemented the Stewardship Team already in place and working. Seeking Elders to serve as host for “Home Groups” during Stewardship season Oct. 16th to Nov. 13th.

7. Old Business Reviewed Master Schedule for upcoming events in Sept. to Dec. of this year. Discussed Stewardship preparations and planning.

8. New Business MOTION approved for EPC to host the Central Florida Presbytery Quarterly meeting on September 1,

2015. Next session of Discover Eastminster on Oct. 12th. College of Elders will meet on Sept. 30th to include any and all ordained Elders in the Church for

discussion of the state-of-the-church and provide guidance on the way forward for EPC. The 2015 Draft Budget with numbers reflecting recent staff changes were passed out to Elders. Deficit is

still too large. Consider other ways to increase revenue or reduce expenses to bring it in line with a viable plan. Shows the need for a good Stewardship season.

9. Next session meeting on October 21st. 10. Meeting adjourned with closing circular prayer led by Pastor Tim
